With its setting and story, Steelrising could have been the Bloodborne-inspired Soulslike that many have been waiting for since the release of From Software's masterpiece. Unfortunately, the game developed by Spiders doesn't manage to be anything more than a middling game, with its gameplay issues making it hard to recommend to those who are not die-hard fans of the genre.

Steelrising souffle le chaud et le froid. Le gameplay est complet mais conventionnel, il n'apporte rien de nouveau comme a pu le faire Sekiro. L'univers est sympa mais reste trop timide : un peu plus d'audace et d'originalité auraient aidé le jeu à se démarquer de la concurrence, surtout l'année de sortie d'Elden Ring. Le jeu n'est pas assez difficile pour le genre et ne vous pousse pas dans vos retranchements comme un Nioh 2. Bref, Steelrising s'inspire de ses prédécesseurs sans jamais dépasser ni faire aussi bien qu'eux. L'expérience reste plaisante et a le mérite de vous faire parcourir un monde différent de ce qui existait précédemment. Pourquoi donc ne pas céder aux appels à la Révolution en attendant une éventuelle suite qui sera assurément plus fignolée et plus réussie... ?

Splatoon 3 evolve ulteriormente una formula già solida dalla sua prima iterazione. Al cuore pulsante d’inchiostro del multiplayer online, ancora più raffinato e profondo del solito, si unisce anche una modalità single player divertente e degna di questo nome. Pur non particolarmente ispirata dal punto di vista artistico, è un buon modo per giocare ulteriormente con l’impianto ludico e prendere confidenza con i tanti equipaggiamenti nuovi. Splatoon 3 si riconferma quindi uno dei migliori franchise nel portfolio di Nintendo, o almeno uno di quelli più… in gambero.

Adesso è arrivato finalmente il punto della nostra recensione in cui tiriamo le somme su search Steelrising. Il nuovo titolo di Spiders riesce a prendere una formula collaudata come quella dei soulslike e ad inserirla all’interno di un contesto completamente originale, aggiungendo allo stesso tempo dei nuovi elementi molto interessanti. I combattimenti del gioco sono davvero molto divertenti e, grazie alla meccanica del raffreddamento, risultano anche molto più intensi e soddisfacenti. Inoltre anche il level design è davvero molto curato e questo, unito alla qualità artistica delle ambientazioni, rende davvero piacevole esplorare le strade di Parigi. Purtroppo il gioco soffre a causa di qualche problema tecnico e di una certa mancanza di varietà e ispirazione per quanto riguarda i nemici, ma nonostante ciò resta un ottimo titolo che può essere apprezzato da tutti gli amanti degli action RPG.

Splatoon 3 is more of the same, but refined to borderline mechanical perfection. It's the most fun we’ve had with an online shooter in years, and for series veterans it makes Splatoon 2 feel entirely redundant for all but its unique single-player content. It feels like the development team has solved every problem the Splatoon community was bleating on about, and then fixed some more that we didn’t even realise were problems until they were fixed. There's nothing revolutionary about it compared to its predecessors, and it's perhaps missing a Big New Idea™ that you might expect after five years, but Splatoon 3 is the pinnacle of the series, and the pinnacle of shooters on Switch.
