Immortality finds creator Sam Barlow building on the found-footage FMV framework of Her Story and Telling Lies in ambitious and surprising new ways. That boldness pays off in the frame-shifting narrative, which encompasses three meticulously crafted feature films, their creation, and the sinister truth of what happened to the woman who starred in them. But the “match cut” system you use to navigate between clips and discover new ones means the actual process of piecing together the story is messier and less satisfying than in his previous work.

Immortality intraprende un sentiero alternativo rispetto a quello percorso da Sam Barlow con Her Story e Telling Lies. Abbandonato il sistema di inserimento di keyword visto nei titoli precedenti, l'autore sceglie di comporre un'avventura esclusivamente visiva. Esaminando i frammenti della carriera cinematografica di Marissa Marcel, i giocatori si muovono in un costante alternarsi tra i due lati della macchina da presa. Un po' registi e un po' spettatori, si è chiamati a squarciare i veli che separano il mito dell'attrice dalla realtà della Settima Arte. Perseverando, ci si troverà a dare risposte ad enigmi inaspettati e completamente imprevedibili, entro i confini di un puzzle che propone diramazioni sempre più ardite. Esperienza intesa e cruda, Immortality segna un eccellente ritorno in scena per Sam Barlow, in un'avventura da vivere rigorosamente con cuffie e controller. Preferibilmente nel corso di una nottata piovosa, in una stanza fiocamente illuminata.

Immortality is a thoroughly mesmerizing mystery and one of the most surprising video game stories I’ve played through this year. Its image-based search tool might make its actual investigating feel noticeably dumbed down compared to that of Her Story and Telling Lies, but the credibility of its faked film productions, the powerful performances of its cast, and its regularly confronting, David Lynchian discoveries kept me captivated for its nine-hour duration. Immortality might not live forever in my mind, but it's likely to linger there for quite a while yet.

Como remake es simplemente correcto, pero, por encima de todo, PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC es la segunda oportunidad de este juego para demostrar que siempre estuvo a la altura de los más grandes. Si os gustan los plataformas 3D con sabor a clásico, es un imprescindible.

Qualcuno, magari, si sarà lanciato in questo commento senza affrontare la lunghissima recensione che abbiamo scritto con fatica e difficoltà, nella speranza di trovare subito la risposta ai due grandi interrogativi che hanno accompagnato questa Parte 1 fin dal suo annuncio: ma quindi è un vero remake? E vale il prezzo richiesto per portarselo a casa? Alla prima domanda abbiamo risposto con un sonoro sì mentre alla seconda potete rispondere soltanto voi in funzione del valore che attribuite alle opere ludiche e al loro carico d'innovazione e novità. Quello che noi possiamo aggiungere è che questo gioco è ancora oggi un capolavoro indiscutibile, un titolo senza rivali che continua a spingere in avanti la componente narrativa del nostro medium preferito. E il lavoro compiuto da Naughty Dog per modernizzare l'opera originale non è soltanto eccellente da un punto di vista tecnico e artistico, ma riesce addirittura a dare una nuova coerenza alla storia in due parti di Ellie, a rendere più credibile e coeso l'universo che fa da sfondo a questa serie. E per questo, e per tutto quello che vi abbiamo raccontato nel pezzo, non possiamo fare a meno che premiare con un voto estremamente positivo The Last of Us Parte 1.

Tinykin revisite brillamment le « Pikmin-like » en l’adaptant avec succès au jeu de plateforme aux penchants puzzle-game. Véritable invitation à l’exploration, on ne peut qu'être fasciné par l’incroyable univers microscopique imaginé par la Splashteam. Généreux, fourmillant de détails, bourré d’humour, l’aventure Tinykin séduira les petits et les grands enfants. On en redemande !

Early on in one’s adventure it’s clear the tone here is one of a passive, laid back approach to challenge and accomplishment, but that direction in no way diminishes what ends up being one of the most delightful and well-curated IPs in this genre for some years. Largely in part due to Splashteam’s attention to detail in the broader scope of level design, but whose strengths are reliant too on how slick the controls feel and how easy they’ll convince you to stick around in its series of levels thereafter. Its lesser-focus on genuine deduction, on top of one’s skill with aiming and group management alike, may put those looking for a meatier sense of difficulty, off from ever setting foot inside the enormity of its setting. But while Tinykin may not be that type of game, it does little to sully this brief but upbeat trek. Because it’s Splashteam’s clear love for the pull and allure of platforming that ultimately delivers. A combination of a streamlined length that doesn’t overstay its welcome, terrific level design, fluid controls and an overall aesthetic that’s both charming and well-integrated, Tinykin is a joy to play and an easy recommendation for any fan of 3D platformers.

The Cowabunga Collection est franchement à la hauteur des attentes placées en lui. Malgré son statut de « simple » compilation, l’œuvre du studio Digital Eclipse est une leçon pour tous les éditeurs qui ressortent les vieilleries du passé. Si les 13 jeux n’affichent pas le même intérêt, on ne peut que s’incliner devant l’avalanche d’options et de bonus intégrés à cette compilation. Certes, certaines productions ont pris de l’âge et la durée de vie n’est pas énorme, mais la convivialité est au rendez-vous et dans le domaine des compil’, ce Cowabunga Collection tient la dragée haute aux ténors du genre. Dans de pareilles conditions, difficile de ne pas être séduit.
