Ultimately, Age of Wonders 4 is a very solid and positively addictive entry in the strategy genre. Not only it lives up well to the legacy of the franchise, but I'd say that the influence of Paradox's own design philosophy and resources has contributed to making Triumph's offering stronger. Fetching visuals, well-explained concepts, deep strategic gameplay, tons of room for personalization, and great replayability make this a game that is easy to recommend to those who love building their own magical empire. Just, please be sure to eat, properly hydrate, and sleep.

Complaints aside, the talented developers of Aurogon Shanghai and Netera Entertainment should be proud of what they have accomplished with Afterimage. It nails the inherent excitement of exploration and discovery that fuels a Metroidvania and it does so with its own distinct visual identity. If you are a fan of the new wave of Metroidvanias, this is a title to watch out for. Do not miss it.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is a solid successor to the Nioh series that manages to carve out its own identity, but it’s not without flaws. Parrying is satisfying and combat in general is a high point, but linearity and some poor bosses hold it back from being truly memorable. However, you’ll still have a good time if you go into this with the right expectations — and the PC version gets the fixes it needs.

Although the difference between the first installment and the second one isn’t exactly day and night (hah), Octopath Traveler II outdoes its predecessor and adds a lot of things that were missing in the first one. It feels a lot more of a grander journey, especially with all the characters having a bit more camaraderie between them. There’s twice as much to explore now, and you’ll find that you’ve just barely scratched the surface within 15 hours of the game. A demo is also available to play up to the first three hours for a single character.

Wild Hearts has everything you need for a competent Hunting style game. The weapons are fun to use and the upgrades go a long way to make you feel powerful. It's the Karakuri system that will be what draws new players to it adding a new level of depth to gameplay.
