The Outer Worlds might not be exactly what you think it’s going to be. It’s a smaller game, one that focuses on replay value and role play fantasy to really get the most out of the experience. It’s a dense game though, where there’s plenty of lore packed into smaller sandbox style areas. It’s up to you to poke around in the corners of these areas to get the most out of it.

While it may not add anything to make it worth double dipping outside of some previous additional content, Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Complete Edition gains the element of portability on the Nintendo Switch that makes the game more accessible than ever to play as you aim to collect the more than 300 available Digimon and save the real and digital worlds.

Overall, Scarlet Nexus is a simple, yet great and enjoyable experience for any fan of the genre out there. You hunt monsters, make yourself and your allies stronger, gather resources for making new cosmetics and gear, constantly unlock new features for inside and outside of combat, all that while you watch an interesting story materialize in front of your eyes. It really is a modernized, old-school adventure which will satisfy anyone, even with the few drawbacks it has and the rather slow beginning.

Frostpunk: Console Edition is a fantastic port: it overhauled its UI and controls intelligently, it runs well, and its priced fairly. At times it doesn’t even feel like a port, but like a version of the game that was developed alongside the PC version. Nothing about the brutal Frostpunk experience has been lost in the translation, and for those who heard all the praise last year but lacked the requisite PC they can now sit down and play 11 Bit’s masterpiece on the platform of their choice (well, barring the Switch it sounds like: sorry Nintendo fans). If you have yet to play Frostpunk and enjoy city-builders you should absolutely give the console edition a look. It’s a worthy port of a phenomenal game, and I hope to see more games brought over from PC given this sort of love and attention in the future.

Ultimately, Codemasters plays it safe with GRID, for better and worse. There's certainly a lack of features, less modes, and a lesser number of cars and tracks than other contemporary racers. This is a no-frills arcade racer, but a very good one. If solid racing action is the only thing you care about, GRID has it in spades.

Feeling like an attempt at a best of experience for recent Ubisoft games, Ghost Recon Breakpoint fails to capture what has made the series special in the past in all of the important areas.

If you go into Code Vein thinking that you’re going to get something on the level of any of the Souls games (or Bloodborne) you’re going to be a little bit disappointed. The lackluster combat is at odds with an interesting premise, great presentation, and deep character customization. It’s hard to pass up on it as a God Eater fan, but you’ll have to wade through a ton of mediocre combat to get to the good stuff here.

Mecha genre fans will find a lot to love in Daemon X Machina, but those hoping for more mainstream appeal might want to stay away. The game features an overabundance of options, mechanics, and customizations that will give it longevity, but only if you clear the initial hurdle set in front of you. Once you do though, there’s quite a bit here to enjoy even if it isn’t wholly new or unique beyond its style.

Final Fantasy VIII may not be getting the full remake treatment like its predecessor, but Square Enix definitely proves they haven’t forgotten about the game with the graphically improved and definitive Final Fantasy VIII Remastered. As long as you can get the hang of the unique and intricate combat system, Final Fantasy VIII Remastered delivers one of the most enthralling narratives in the long running franchise that still holds up 20 years later.
