Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart feels like a new revival episode of a long-dormant Saturday morning cartoon show. It sticks to its guns to placate to existing fans and offer just enough of newness to try and court new fans. Rift Apart is also a big tech demo to show off the power of the PS5. And depending on how your PC specs are measured, it may convince you to get a PS5 by the few little things the PC port doesn’t get right, or make you content in waiting a couple of years before being able to sample the PlayStation Studios catalogue with your beefed-up setup. Whatever dimension the duo may land in, on whatever platform you may be playing Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, I can guarantee that it’s going to be a jolly good time. (And that’s the cue for you, the readers that are in agreement with my review to say “You said it, pal”)

Park Beyond set out with a strong premise: be another 3D theme park builder but with more imaginative rides and embrace the wild tendencies players have in designing roller coasters by making it a feature. The Impossify gimmick is fun and has surely been crafted with love, but it’s built on shaky foundations. A litany of bugs and some uneven balance in the economy that forces you into micromanaging every little aspect takes away the fun of building impossible attractions. Park Beyond is neat for veterans of the genre to play around with the rollercoaster builder and push it beyond its limits. As a theme park builder and management sim for more casual fans of the genre, it’s hard to enjoy most of what it offers right now. The game could use a couple more months of polishing still.

F1 ‘23 is another year that feels like a mixed bag. The kinks have been fixed and patched but the addition of F1 World has made it weird to play for someone who has put hours in this game, along with that graphics issue as well. Perhaps, the wisest choice is to wait for the year-end sale or even use EA Play Game Trials to try out this new F1 game.

Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance Of The Slayer is a competent shooter that successfully evokes the good and bad of a first-person shooter made in the late 90s. Its dated presentation is backed up by great moment-to-moment gunplay and fascinating levels. It’s not an easy recommendation to anyone, but if you stumble upon this game on Game Pass and decide to give it a shot, you might be pleasantly surprised by how high-quality this low-quality-looking shooter is. You can’t polish a turd. But what if underneath the turd is a polished gem? That’s Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance Of The Slayer.

Miasma Chronicles builds upon the success of Mutant Year Zero: Road To Eden, but maybe have taken the wrong lessons from Corruption 2029. The world-building and story are interesting for those who enjoy a good post-apocalypse setting. But the combat system, despite its solid foundation and brilliant use of stealth, is hampered by its weak choice of arsenal and undercooked UI. There’s still a decent game in there if you can brush off the shortcomings. If you don’t mind playing on an easier difficulty, Miasma Chronicles is a decent RPG-tactical-strategy romp.

It is such a pleasure to get a story experience such as A Space For The Unbound, with how welcoming its world is, with all of its intrigue and suspense that delivers well on the hype. And being a small team working on it like Toge Production is, they deserve all the plaudits. Get this game now, at full price, and you won’t be disappointed at all.

Return To Monkey Island is the unexpected comeback of a classic, well-loved franchise. And it earned its return. It’s a modernised, streamlined point-and-click adventure that channels the evergreen charm of the series into a new age with a balanced mix of new and old. The fantastic writing is maybe geared towards the old fans more, but newcomers to the series can see through all that Monkey Island has to offer, thanks to the thoughtful in-game hints. For fans of the good old days, make some time to Return To Monkey Island. It’s an amazing adventure, and you will rediscover why you love the series so much in the first place.

You Suck At Parking rocks. It can be difficult and downright evil when you go deeper into this physics-based driving game puzzler, but the journey to get there will be full of laughs.

Rollerdrome is an amazing title and I highly recommend anyone to try out this one. It just clicks when you start chaining combos and eliminating enemies flawlessly. It’s one of those fun-to-play, hard-to-master types of games that I think will get a shot of either the best indie Game of The Year or even GOTY. We shall see.

GigaBash’s onslaught of chaotic fun is easy to get into and has enough depth to keep fighting game fans playing for longer. With fun and charming original characters, a striking presentation of amazing visual design and audio delight, GigaBash will make you want to get a group of people together for a bash and have a good time bashing kaijus and buildings. GigaBash is the MegaHit debut for Passion Republic Games, and hopefully, their future titles continue to wow and impress as good as this.

MotoGP 22 is a great alternative to the current racing game meta with its cheap price point and fast and furious action within the motorcycle genre. A neat little way to enjoy some racing and even learn their history as well.

Rogue Legacy 2 is everything you know and love from Rogue Legacy, but more. It’s not trying to reinvent the series, but rather to continue the legacy of its predecessor by expanding and improving the core formula in almost every way. The sequel also provides options to cater to both beginners and veterans. That two years of Early Access, developing the game with the feedback from the community, has worked out well. Rogue Legacy 2, the heir to the rougelite king, is one that should not go unnoticed. It’s a good indie game.

I highly rate Chinatown Detective Agency for bringing me back to the Point & Click genre with practice bravado. A great game for both beginners or even veterans of this niche corner with the gaming Venn diagram. A bit calculated at times but that’s the beauty of this game, honestly.

Submerged: Hidden Depths is a beautiful game that does exactly what it promises. It doesn’t live up to its subtitle, its gameplay and story offering are shallow, but the chill vibes and simple and friendly exploration is worth a look for those looking to find enjoyment in games with no violence-based gameplay.

A game banking on Gamepass and nostalgia goes a bit wrong, Crossfire X could be a cheaper alternative to the big three of the console shooters but besides its bonkers campaign story that goes too fast, nothing really captivates the player-base to stick around after playing it for a few hours. Smilegate should work on it to make it better.
