FIFA 10 on DS is a fun soccer outing for when you’re on the go. It makes good use of the limited control options available to the system and avoids unneeded stylus annoyances by limiting the core gameplay to the face and shoulder buttons. The action suffers from zero framerate hitches thanks to the 60 frames per second that the game maintains. The artificial intelligence could be ramped up a bit as players have a tendency to react without a sense of urgency to some situations and the Be A Pro mode could be better designed, but all in all FIFA 10 on DS is worth the asking price for soccer fans.

Although beginners can get by in Tekken 6 by mashing buttons, the real fun comes from learning the game's intricate sub-systems and developing a sense of the mind games that play out about between two skilled opponents. Tekken 6 has a lot to offer, including a massive roster, refined gameplay, plenty of modes and a smooth Ad Hoc multiplayer experience. If you already own Tekken 6 for consoles, the PSP version is just more of the same. Then again, it is an excellent port and will give you plenty of time to practice while on the road, so it just might be worth that extra investment.

Even with the movie I’m not sure what the fan base for Astro Boy is going to be with kids. But even if you, or your kid, loves the movie, or the manga or anything about Astro Boy, avoid this game. It’s a bad platformer, combined with a bad brawler, combined with a very mediocre flying shooter.

Rainbow Islands is a fun little arcade game that has a couple unusual tricks up its sleeve. Not many games let you zip around the screen firing rainbows with pelvic thrusts. I also like the countdown mechanic that gives you a time limit instead of a set number of lives or chances. While this is a spiritual sequel to Bubble Bobble, Rainbow Islands is a little less memorable and a little less charming. It's still a good time but it doesn't have the fan base that its prequel has and this XBLA release won't change that fact.

FIFA 10 is a solid game of soccer on PSP, even if it doesn’t reinvent the wheel in the same way as its console brethren. The gameplay is solid and there are enough fun little distractions (Soccer IQ and Challenge Mode) to keep things fresh for quite some time. I’m a little disappointed that they weren’t able to switch up the core modes and gameplay all that much, but the small additions here and there are still appreciated. If you didn’t pick up FIFA 09, you owe it to your handheld to fork over the cash for FIFA 10.

Toy Story Mania will make a great souvenir. It'll be on sale in the little gift shop right after Disney park-goers get off the Midway Mania ride, and it'll help them recall the fond memories of their vacation when they take it home and give it a spin in their Wii machines. It'll be fun for them. But a great theme park souvenir isn't necessarily a great game, or even a very good one in this case -- because if you don't have those same nostalgic vacation memories to help fill in for some of this package's failings, you're just going to be left feeling ripped off. Stay away from this one unless you're on your own Disney trip, or want to remember the last time you were. It's not worth it as a standalone game, because though you'll want to like it, you won't. It's just another collection of mini-games.

In an overcrowded genre of music games, DJ Hero resides at the very top with the best of 'em. The original mixes are stunning and scratching the turntable is just as fun as it seems. It's not as full-featured as Rock Band 2 or Guitar Hero 5, but the simpler presentation really works in its favor. Like an '80s arcade, mixmasters will be gunning for those high scores on the leaderboards. A little headroom has been left for improvement with a sequel, particularly in the head-to-head battles and the way leaderboards display scores. But DJ Hero is already the most exciting music game around and is guaranteed to get the party started. To paraphrase Run DMC: gosh darn that DJ made my day.

Way of the Samurai 3 is built upon a solid idea, but the actual implementation isn't carried out nearly as far as it could be. With limited areas to explore, some mediocre combat mechanics and a hit-or-miss impact from your actions, it's hard to recommend it without pause. If you're really into the setting and want to play around with cause and effect, you might find something interesting here. Just don't expect it to be the GTA of feudal Japan.

It's a shame that the game's load times aren't better, because the awkward pauses between matches interrupt the otherwise frantic and heart-pounding pacing of combat. That, coupled with the dry Campaign Scenario, keep Tekken 6 from being the absolute best it could be. With that said, Tekken fans will certainly gobble it up and I think gamers unfamiliar with the franchise should give it a shot. The unique mix of an easy-to-use interface with intensely deep strategies is definitely worth checking out.

Bakugan: Battle Brawlers seems to do things mostly right on paper, though the actual gameplay offers too much build-up to each fight and not enough in the actual battle department. It may serve as a distraction for Bakugan fans for a bit, but it won't replace the real-world game anytime soon.

I like Lips. It’s a solid, fun game that’ll appeal to singing nerds like myself. The problem is that the game doesn’t really do anything spectacularly. The song selection for this disc has some gems, but it’s not amazing. The library menu is better looking than ever, but the lack of art for songs from the original game stinks. The leaderboards and challenges are nice, but an online community or way to play friends would’ve been better. The ability to swap discs is cool, but the process is cumbersome. I could go on like that, but the long and short of it is that Lips is good, but it’s not amazing. Hopefully, when the game gets a true sequel, some of these more nagging issues can be addressed and the title can truly move forward.

Trine is great fun in single-player and it's worth experimenting with the three-player co-op even if the game works best as a solo experience. Players are given a set of tools (three characters with unique abilities) and are presented with problems that can be solved in several ways, resulting in an adventure that feels wide open despite being relegated to a mere two dimensions. The beautiful visuals and sound bring this world to life and there is something new to discover around every corner. A lack of enemy variety, disappointing conclusion, and the wonky multiplayer keep Trine from greatness, but this is still a highly recommended puzzle platformer.
