Cult of the Lamb is as adorable as it is unsettling, an eclectic mix of genres and themes that come together extremely well. Its combat is immensely satisfying even if its short runs and the relative lack of variety between them doesn’t give it the lasting appeal of other action roguelikes, and building my very own cult base and tending to a flock of followers was just as fun as any swing of the axe. I may not revisit it now that the credits have rolled, but Cult of the Lamb is something altogether different that I had an absolute blast playing.

When it comes right down to it, Two Point Campus is a deep and rewarding management game. And that's what matters most here. Growing my college, hiring and training faculty, adding new courses, spiffing up my dorms, and watching my grades and profits soar in the Sandbox mode is addicting enough that I could keep at it for dozens of hours more, even after having put in almost 40 hours for this review. The art style and quirky humor don't really do it for me most of the time, but they're usually not actively obnoxious, and eventually I sort of just tuned them out. At the end of the semester, I'd pass Two Point Campus with a solid B+.

When you’ve got a group of friends sitting on a couch with controllers in hand, GigaBash is a hell of a good time. The roster of 10 Kaiju-inspired monsters is on the small side, but every character plays so differently and packs so much personality that it ultimately feels like a minor issue. The fun doesn’t translate that well to the solo or even the online experience, but those options are at least present and serviceable, resulting in a game that I don’t see myself playing very often on my own, but one that I’d have on a shortlist of suggestions for when friends come over.

MultiVersus is an entertaining and deep platform fighter, but everything outside of simply jumping into a 1v1 or 2v2 match as any one of the eclectic characters in its cast (who are only related by a common corporate overlord) is tedious. I’ll keep coming back to experiment with my Iron Giant’s perk build for team play or learn how to use Marvin The Martian to his fullest, but I’d be glued to this game if I was given more opportunities to earn memorable variant skins or challenge my skills in increasingly tough PvE battles. Instead, MultiVersus offers days of grinding to earn the opportunity to grind more to attain its most enticing rewards, whether that’s the chance to play as an upcoming character or to swag out your favorite fighter. While it’s a huge boon that the actual fighting is solid and worth the time to dig into, it’s going to take more fun objectives to complete and more fruitful rewards to make me want to return over and over again.

Matchpoint Tennis Championships serves up a smooth-playing and simple-to-control game of tennis – to the point where you have to go out of your way to miss a shot – but saddles it with a career mode that’s so lacking in spectacle and any sense of meaningful progression that it almost made me wish I’d taken a desk job instead. Multiplayer matches are more dynamic but noticeably light on options, and the complete lack of doubles play severely diminishes any appeal it may have had for game night gatherings on the couch. There’s a solid baseline to build on in the future, but Matchpoint Tennis Championships ultimately feels like a tentative first serve for the series.

With its typically deep and rich career mode and its usual class-leading spectrum of assists and difficulty options, F1 22 maintains this series’ run as the most fully-featured and accessible reproduction of a single modern motorsport on the market – and long-awaited tweaks to some of its most reused elements haven’t gone unnoticed, either. It’s not quite as bold as F1 2021, though, and the footwear-and-furniture-focussed F1 Life mode really isn’t a patch to cover the lack of last year’s ambitious story mode.

DNF Duel’s simplified inputs make it a great game for beginners to pick up, press a few buttons, and get right into the action. However, that simplicity doesn’t mean it isn’t also a great game to play online after you really understand the complex mechanics underneath those inputs and how any two characters interact with one another. Getting from that first point to the second may dissolve into a series of frustrating knowledge checks until you learn the hard way what you can and can’t do, but on the other side of the grind is a fun fighting game with enough hidden depth to hopefully sustain a player base that thrives on continued discovery.

The Capcom Fighting Collection has everything it needs to succeed: a collection of great games alongside some rarities, an impressive museum filled with interesting art and music, and a snappy UI linking everything together. Online play has been flawless ahead of launch thanks to easy matchmaking and modern rollback netcode. It’s a bummer that there’s no cross-platform play and Street Fighter III is conspicuously absent, but other than that Capcom truly has a collection worth collecting on its hands.
