Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising does exactly what any good companion game should do. Not only does this RPG set the stage nicely for the upcoming Eiyden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, it’s an enjoyable adventure that stands up on its own merits. It’s true that combat’s a little basic in the opening hours and the optional fetch quests required to unlock some powerful abilities can become rather tedious, but thanks to the dynamic cast of characters, I found myself invested. Its campaign didn’t last terribly long but it left me curious to see where this adventure goes next – and that was its main job.

È davvero incredibile pensare che ad aver realizzato Salt and Sacrifice siano state solo due persone. Il nuovo progetto del piccolo team non propone il livello di bilanciamento delle produzioni più imponenti ma riesce comunque ad andarci vicino. Al netto di una serie di incertezze, Salt and Sacrifice è un gioiellino che saprà fare la gioia di tutti gli amanti dei soulslike desiderosi di dilettarsi con un’avventura capace di metterli alla prova ma di dimensioni decisamente più contenute rispetto a un gigante come Elden Ring. Detto questo, a fronte di un investimento assolutamente commisurato si ottiene l’accesso a un prodotto in grado di intrattenere per ore e ore, vista anche la presenza delle missioni giornaliere e del comparto multigiocatore.

Trek to Yomi is a brief but captivating journey that’s like playing through a monochromatic Japanese movie, and that excellent presentation is enough to carry it even though it falls short in most other respects. Combat is one-note and easily mastered, and exploration and puzzles don’t have much to offer aside from a fleeting distraction. Thankfully, its relatively brief story was one that still drew me in enough to absolutely feel worth my time.
