FIFA 08 on Wii is definitely a solid start for the series. There are areas where it could improve, but that can be said for pretty much every inaugural sports effort on the system. It delivers solid controls that are functional for the majority of the time, and a set of mini-games that is a solid distracter. The online play could be better, but the fact that it’s in the game at all is a bonus for Wii owners. It’s clear that the Wii can deliver solid soccer (football) action, now EA Sports just needs to differentiate Nintendo’s version a bit more from the rest of the pack.

It's pretty amazing that, for a system that's been out for three years now, there have been very few first-person shooters made for it. The Nintendo DS is a prime (no pun intended) system for the genre, what with its touch screen that can easily mimic the precise movement of mouse controls. Dementium: The Ward fills that void nicely - it's appropriately gory (it is a shooter, after all) but also adds an element of mystery to the whole thing. Some design issues do get in the way a tiny bit, but not so much that you'll hate on the game…and unless you've got the expectations of a PC shooter fan, it's hard to not be impressed with what Renegade Kid managed to pull off on the Nintendo DS hardware.

My socks weren't blown off by The Trials of Topoq, but they didn't need to be. Even with its flaws and ho-hum feeling, this is a solid short-attention puzzler, a good looking game and a good implementation of the PlayStation Eye. The game feels kind of flat. Although there are different cities, they all feel and look alike, there's no multiplayer of any kind, and the music is a bit repetitive, but fans of the quirky-game genre should have no qualms about buying and trying this for $4.99.

Which you should, if this style of high-challenge action platformer is your kind of game. Fans of Capcom's Ghouls 'N Ghosts series and the old-school, linear Castlevania adventures would probably be the closest candidates to becoming appreciative players of Magician Lord, along with nostalgic past Neo Geo gamers. But don't invest the 900 Wii Points if that doesn't describe you. Wait, instead, a little longer – for the Neo Geo lineup in the Wii Shop to become still more diverse, and for its offerings to include some games more modern than the four first-wave titles sitting in there now.

Front Mission isn’t a game for the average DS gamer. It’s classically rooted, expects a ton from the player, and is very deep and involved from front to back. Battles can push on well over the hour mark, with one bad move or wasted attack making all the difference in the world. It comes with the territory though, as Front Mission is about as pure of a port as you could want from a game over a decade old, complete with the same classic pixel art, musical composition, story, and content as before. DS players will get a basic local multiplayer mode as well, which lets you pit team against team in one-on-one battles, but unfortunately allows for no online play. If you’re in it only for the multiplayer, skip on this one. If you’re a diehard tactical gamer, however, Front Mission will offer you more options, more depth, and more overall customization than any of its competitors on DS, with a level of detail, strategy, and maturity that isn’t often found on Nintendo’s handheld.

I've played through and beaten both the original and Manhunt 2 multiple times on both difficulty levels, and while it's great to see Rockstar start to make this into a "franchise," it feels as though a number of things went missing in the sequel. The AI doesn't feel as good as the first game, the setting and environments don't feel as menacing, and the story is definitely weaker. That isn't to say that Manhunt 2 isn't a good game, because it is – Danny and Leo's adventure is enjoyable, especially if you've played the first title and have been waiting to eliminate enemies with plastic bags, crowbars or other household items. But as a whole, Manhunt 2 isn't the tour de force title that will grab your attention and keep you there like the first one did.

Soul Nomad & the World Eaters is a good game, with a fantastic amount of depth and the potential for nearly limitless hours of playtime. Unfortunately, there are a number of things that prevent it from reaching the level of quality that we know it could possess. Looking at Soul Nomad, you can see the framework for an astounding game, but the rest of the structure just isn't there. On the bright side, the game that is there is a lot of fun and is sure to win the hearts of the super hardcore, strategy RPG crowd that we know is out there. If you don’t mind the somewhat disappointing lack of overall polish and you just want the game for the raw mechanics and leveling system, you’ll undoubtedly enjoy it. With many more technical issues than the console versions, the Sims 2: Castaway is a highly flawed exploration of island life. While it gives an interesting twist on the standard shipwreck concept, the hampered nature of the guidebooks, strange placement of plans in menus and continual micromanagement does hampers the fun of the title. If you need to get lost or try your inner Gilligan on for size, stick with the PS2 or Wii versions of the game.

Forget the fact that Napoleon Dynamite isn't really a hot commodity anymore. Forget that the game is budget-priced. Forget that it doesn’t even do justice to the license it's based on. The real reason why you should just forget the game in general is that it's simply not fun. There are moments where the mini-games approach mild entertainment, but you can have just as much fun -- if not more -- playing a free Flash game. Gosh.

So, I still can't say that I'm a fan of this take on Spider-Man 3. As a comic book nerd, the liberties taken with the story and the meaningless tasks forced on our superhero frustrate to no end. I never felt like Spider-Man in this game. However, if you're desperate for some Spider-Man on your portable, the quick hit missions might be what you're looking for -- although I'd still avoid it.

There's nothing like Exit on Xbox Live Arcade. It's a smart puzzle game that has a few issues that aren't severe enough to detract too much from the overall design. Though some are certain to complain about having to purchase extra levels via Marketplace, consider that you get the entire PSP game (which also had premium downloads), for only $10. The levels only take a few minutes to beat, if you can do so on the first try. But there are 120 different levels to take on with the initial download. That's a pretty fair amount of time invested in an XBLA title. Though it's not perfect, Exit is worth picking up for any fan of Lemmings or Lode Runner.

It's pretty surprising when you open an incredibly stacked box of extras, including an art book, key chain and buttons and other extras, and find that those are probably better than the overall gameplay experience. With an extremely weak story, annoying battle system and bland visuals, Growlanser: Heritage of War is perhaps the most disappointing chapter in the franchise. Unless you're a hardcore fan of the series, you may want to seriously consider whether or not you need this title in your collection.
