Corvette Evolution GT was well on its way to becoming an all-right racer. Nothing fancy, but a decent ride for the bargain price. But with all the nonsense tacked on it becomes a joke with itself as the punch line. For some reason, the simulation of the psychological effects was given plenty of influence when they really should have been ignored. Much like this game itself.

Bionicle Heroes is an impressive title in both graphical presentation and sound design. It's got a great sense of humor, too, that makes the overall experience even more fun. The only thing holding it back is a lack of variety in the core gameplay. The endless blasting is just a bit too mindless, even when new weapons and masks are discovered. It is what it is – relentless, high energy shooting. If you don't mind that simplicity, jump right in.

When LEGO Star Wars hit our consoles last year, most of us were pretty amazed that a tiny licensed game could hold so much replay value. When we got a second dose of it just a few months ago with the sequel, we were again amazed at how much fun the series could be. Now we’ve got Bionicle Heroes, a game that takes what was good about LEGO Star Wars and tries to transition it to a more robust single player experience, and despite a few quirks it manages to work out. The game has a few gameplay quirks worth mentioning, such as a troublesome camera, some targeting issues during combat and an overall A.D.D. over-stimulated feel, but it’s still a ton of fun. We can tell that that series takes inspiration from titles like Resident Evil 4, Unreal Tournament, and a dash of Halo, and for the most part the game does a decent job of simplifying its inspiration, converting down to a younger level, and keeping some of the magic and core gameplay that comes with those designs. In the end the game is a solid holiday buy for younger gamers, but it isn’t going to be captivating gamers of all ages like LEGO Star Wars has dome time and time again. Bionicle Heroes is a very entertaining licensed game, it has a ton of replay value, and it’s a no-brainer for younger action/adventure fans. In that way, it’s a success.

While fun in short burts, Eragon lacks the wings to really soar. Much of the experience is hampered by shoddy control, and the mission objectives could use more variety. The multiplayer aspect provides plenty of entertainment, though. Plus, torching hordes of enemies and eating goats for health is always fun.

Eragon is an interesting game. The combat and attribute systems aren't revolutionary, but they're far more developed than one might expect from a licensed movie title. The story is engaging and the quests are enjoyable. This isn't the kind of broad-appeal RPG that will convert fans like Summon Night did. But fans of the movie will definitely be getting their money's worth, and handheld RPG fanatics should feel right at home.

Games based on movies are notorious for not living up to their big screen cousins, but all of the elements for creating a good action game of this nature have been laid out in the past so there isn't any excuse. Even if you're a huge fan of the fiction, a rental is the most time you'll want to spend with this game. Even that might be pushing it.

Made Man's combat is as boring as daytime television, and all you do is fight. There's a notable narrative structure to house the flat storyline, but it's nothing to get excited about. Poor graphics, banal sound effects, and frequently absurd voice acting wrap up this bomb of a game in a rotten bow. Avoid at all costs.

And that's where Winx Club: Quest for the Codex leaves you in the end ¿ fairly satisfied in a few areas, but disappointed in the rest. This mini-game collection is strung together too loosely. Its plot doesn't make much sense, and its look leaves a lot to be desired. It's no wonder Bloom and her friends spend all their free time chasing young men ¿ they're doing whatever they can to put the reality of their lives out of their boy-crazy minds.

The preview builds for Double Agent were tough to get a good read on because so many little things hadn't gelled yet. But the final retail versions, which we played, show its full promise. The game came together. The layers of animation boast an excellent looking and moving Sam Fisher. Ubisoft uses an array of color schemes and shows them off in all sorts of beautiful-looking levels. The Shanghai team perhaps uses too much high-dynamic range and bloom lighting, but the game still offers stunning visuals as exemplified in the icy underwater passages of Okhotsk, the scenic views of Shanghai, and the war-torn streets of Kinshasa. All sorts of improvements have been made to level design, AI, gameplay mechanics (which are simplified yet still require skill), and a meaningful storyline punctuated with directed moments. While some may argue the point, the new Mercs Vs. Spies mode is good fun and should prove to have legs online. The game still loads slowly and it slips below 30 FPS in both single and multiplayer, but of course the framerate depends on the type and power of your PC, so it will vary. The PC version of Double Agent is essentially a straight port of the Xbox 360 version, sharing all the content, A.I., campaigns, and levels online and off. Fisher animates and moves well on the PC, and the excellent lighting and miniscule details all show up well. With the exception of little graphic artifacts and tiny visual glitches here and there, which detract a little from the game's good looks, the PC version, even on the hightest setting, is slightly inferior to the 360 version. The loading times are longer. Multiplayer is, content-wise, the same as on Live, though it's far more difficult to get online and find a match, though there aren't any friends lists or achievements.

Tony Hawk's Project 8 is a big letdown after the success of THUG 2. The level design is mediocre and the new Nail the Trick feature is no fun at all. Worst of all is the changes to manuals, which is completely unwarranted. If this is representative of the future of Tony Hawk, the series is in serious trouble.

Barbie in The 12 Dancing Princesses is a refreshing surprise, offering much more innovation and fun that you'd expect to find in a product brought to you by Mattel. Its challenge is low, making it a great choice for younger gamers just starting to discover platformers. The only thing holding the title back is its limited use of the DS's power ¿ the graphics, sound and overall feel of the game are still solidly Game Boy.

Uno Skip-Bo is a solid pairing of two enjoyable games on the Game Boy Advance. It's a little ridiculous that DSI chose to spread its four portable Uno games across three different releases, instead of combining them into one must-buy package. But each game plays great and exhibits a level of polish not often seen on Nintendo's handheld. Of the three DSI Uno releases on GBA, this is the one to pick up.
