Snoopy Vs. The Red Baron is a decent introductory flight combat title for kids and Peanuts fans. The story pitting Snoopy against the Red Baron and his Flying Circus is an engaging one, and the missions are varied enough to keep your interest. The uselessness of the unlockable "secrets," along with some of the linear levels and non-distinct weapons, may start to turn off some flight fans. But as an intro for kids to the genre, Snoopy Vs. The Red Baron is a good start.

When Activision revealed earlier this year that the next Tony Hawk DS title would be a trick-based racing game, I'll freely admit I was ready to write off the concept right then and there. Tony Hawk has always been about its open worlds and finding the best lines and objects to grind off of, and turning the design into a forward rolling SSX-inspired racing design could potentially stray the series away from what made it so great from the start. Playing it completely squashed my initial fears -- Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam is an extremely fun Nintendo DS racer with all of the familiar Tony Hawk progression and challenge, but presented in a whole new way. The game is fast, furious, and fun as hell, even if the racing focus limits the world exploration. The online component in the game easily makes Tony Hawk one of the deepest multiplayer titles on the system, even if we're still stuck in Nintendo's restrictive network -- it lacks a lobby system to find games easily, but once you're in the game runs great and features an in-game voice chat option that's admittedly a bit limited but still damn cool to use. Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam has enough of the right stuff to continue on as its own franchise, but I'd be lying if I said that it's a better concept than the original open world, go-anywhere Pro Skater/Underground/American Sk8land designs. The racing game is excellent even with its slight restrictions -- the designers have explored the core idea to give it a fantastic amount of variety. It's really great stuff that'll appeal to racing fans and skateboarding nuts.

When a development team cares about the game it's making, it shows in the final product. This is apparent when it comes to Avatar: The Last Airbender. Tose software has made a solid action RPG. It's not as exciting as the show is, but I still had a pretty fun time playing it. I just wish I could be playing it with my friends. I hope that, like Aang, Tose can master their skills and blow me away next time.

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic is an excellent blend of fantasy and hardcore action. The scripted sequences are some of the coolest we’ve witnessed this side of Half-Life 2, and it’s no surprise that the Source engine is responsible for generating some brilliant gravity-gun-free physics joy. The first time you hurtle a barrel at a pair of orcs, one in front of the other, and watch as they both get impaled against a wall of spikes, you’ll squeal your giddy buttocks off. It isn’t perfect, and the graphical shortcuts and occasionally cheap gameplay mechanics prevent it from attaining the elusive ‘instant classic’ status. But there is no denying that Dark Messiah is brilliant fun, beautiful and compelling with enough originality to warrant purchase by fans of the series and gamers looking for a more action-oriented RPG. Captivating stuff.

American Dragon: Jake Long - Attack of the Dark Dragon is a lot more fun that I expected it to be. The different gameplay styles for each level keep the title from being stale, though the platforming parts are not very fun, even in dragon form. The American Dragon license holds a lot of potential, and for Jake Long's first game, it's not a bad try.

The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause is a harmless, forgettable game that isn't particularly good or bad. Anyone older than the target age will find themselves bored by the generic gameplay and repetitive design. At the same time little kids, especially those who are fans of the film, could do worse for a licensed GBA game. It never really rises above its mediocrity, but it's not an awful game either.

That’s always been part of PES’s charm, though. It’s not a goal-fest like FIFA but a much more tactical, realistic game. Its trademark tight gameplay is still intact, although it's not as sharp as the current-gen versions and the analogue stick isn’t quite as direct as a d-pad. Despite this, it still offers a football experience much closer to the real thing that any other football game. Admittedly, the online mode isn’t fantastic and - while it's perfectly playable over Live - it only supports one-on-one matches, which is a huge step backwards considering the online PS2 game is much more substantial. We can’t help but feel a little disappointed with the presentation of the 360 version either, especially in light of the great things EA achieved with FIFA 07. However, there’s no denying PES 6 is still a great – probably the best, in fact – football game on Xbox 360.

It's nice that the developers attempted a true Sims experience for this latest rendition -- the point and click interface and 3D environments clearly work on the Nintendo DS system's touch screen. But the design itself lacks focus in both its Sims model as well as its Pet simulation -- it's just so overwhelmingly bland, boring, tedious, and unrewarding that it fails to hold the interest level that the Sims series has been known for. Though the core of a Sims environment is here, this design has so many missing bells and whistles that it ends up feeling lazy.

WTF: Work Time Fun offers a bizarre mix of challenges. They range from short and fun, to long and dull and everywhere in between. Most of the mini-games fail to conjure smiles, though, and so the package as a whole suffers for it. WTF has plenty of content to uncover, aside from the main challenges, but much of the fun escapes too quickly. It does have a wicked sense of style, so anyone looking for a funky game with pick-up-and-play content may want to check it out.

In fact that pretty much summarises PES 6 – it’s an improved experience rather than a radically new one. The controls are still delightfully responsive and tight, and there’s no doubt it’s still the most accurate football game on PS2 - so much so, anyone who plays or watches football regularly is likely to be a better player because they understand how to create chances. You just won’t be blown away by it, instead feeling happily content that Konami has taken your favourite football game and made it slightly better. In our book that’s definitely a good thing.

Encounters suffers from a dire lack of Star Trek. There's very little point in using the Star Trek license without exploiting its greatest assets. Unfortunately, that's exactly what happens here. Take away the name and there's little here that resembles the long-running franchise at all. And while playing through different eras of the Trek timeline is a great concept, and definitely has its appeal, the actual gameplay doesn't do it justice. It's a bargain title, but even gamers strapped for cash need to know Encounters is Star Trek only in name, not in function.

Even on the highest difficulty setting, Extraction Point is going to take around five hours to beat. Considering only four of the six intervals turn out to be full-featured stages, that's pretty bare bones in terms of price versus gameplay time. The expansion also adds nothing to the multiplayer. It still offers more excellent first-person shooting gameplay, but feels like something that could have been tacked on the end of the original product. While Extraction Point's extra features may look great on paper, playing the game all the way through reveals this expansion is too thin.

If you've never played Max Payne 2, and are looking for some (otherwise) unique 3rd person action, with a lame story and decent controls, then give El Matador a try. It's fun for a short while, but its lack of any multiplayer component really detracts from any potential longevity. The game is a huge rip-off of its aforementioned mentor, so if you can look past the fact that other than the story, it's the same game, then by all means, play your hearts out. I still strongly recommend you pass, as three years later, there are far better options out there.

Scooby-Doo! Who's Watching Who? has a few frustrating features ¿ it could have done more with its storyline's premise, and guiding a 2D character through 3D environments can be annoying. But while this design isn't the most praiseworthy effort from a technical standpoint, the bottom line is that it's still a pleasant ride ¿ the frustrations aren't enough to foil the fun factor. The game holds additional value in its asking price, a budget-friendly tag of just 20 bones. So feel free to take a ride in the Mystery Machine, and find out for yourself just who it is who's watching Doo.
