ESPN NBA 2Night 2002 does not reach the bar set by NBA Live 2002. It's not altogether a dismal title, but the rebounding and passing flaws bring it down pretty far. Which is a shame, because the game looks very good, the sounds of basketball are fairly represented and the color commentator, if you like Stuart Scott, is amusing to a greater degree than it is repetitive. If you have not enjoyed the NBA Live series in the past, give Konami's game a try. Otherwise, may we suggest NBA Inside Drive on Xbox.

When all is said and done Chaos Field is by no means a “Bad Shooter.” Players looking for a quick fix of top-down action will find that Chaos Field holds attention for at least a few hours. While the game consists of only the original Arcade mode and one additional mode, there are still tons of ways to tweak the experience. The three ships are unique in control and special attacks, and the “Field” system makes every experience different depending on the strategy used. The replay value, however, will depend on the player. If you are a diehard shooter fanatic obsessed with breaking high score lists Chaos Field will provide a relatively large playground for you to do your thing. The lack of two-player mode or online ranking simply seals the deal, proving once and for all that Chaos Field is simply outgunned as an arcade port. This isn’t an Ikaruga killer, though I seriously doubt it set out to be, and while it may have high and low points it simply is what it is. If you own only one shooter for the GameCube, make it Ikaruga. For the shooter-obsessed, however, buckle up for this one; it is one heck of a rush.

If you're a sucker for beat-em-ups, you might be able to enjoy this one, though probably not. The fighting system itself has a few interesting features, but almost everything else about the game will either frustrate or annoy. The camera, the enemy A.I., almost every aspect of the graphics, the sound effects and the required mini-games are all decidedly sub-par. So while a decent fighting system may exist, it's lost in the myriad flaws this game possesses. In the end, Streetwise is an update where to play is to suffer.

It’s far from being “too little, too late” for this venerable battle royale to go free-to-play. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds may be a known quantity these days, but its slower paced survival of the fittest struggle still creates memorable shootouts and intense moments in nearly every match. However, console players might find its efforts to render its massive 8x8 km maps in proper detail technically disappointing, and no matter where you play its vehicles are no joyride. Thankfully, PUBG has plenty of life left in it if you can look past the clunky weapons and vehicles to see the much more hectic firefights and interesting, tactics-focused survival that house them.

When Nobody Saves the World is at its best, which it is for a majority of the 15-hour campaign, it's a joy to play. Granted, its transformation menu needs a lot of work to make it useful on the fly, but there’s a wide variety of fun and humorous sidequests, excellent customization options that encourage experimentation between your various forms and the abilities they can equip, and clever dungeon designs that really demand you explore the full depth of that customization. That delicious center is unfortunately bookended by a slow beginning and a drawn-out end, but they’re worth pushing through and past to experience what is truly a unique and charming action-RPG.

Mad Dash won't shock you or surprise you by being the arcade type game you expected it to be, despite talk of huge levels and multiple routes. If there's anything to get disappointed about, it's that once you've figured out your perfect routes, you'll have little interest in the actual act of running through the levels, unlike most racing titles, where it's usually the opposite experience. Unfortunately, what this creates is a racing game with the limited replayability of a platformer. You'll come back to this one, but mainly to play your friends. Mad Dash could use some more depth when it comes to the actual gameplay itself, but as arcade games go it delivers a fun, fast experience that's ultimately more fulfilling than other games of this type, like Cel Damage.
