With a sports-like feel dripping from its commentary and team-based play, RIGS is a fantastic first-person shooter that works in either short bursts or for longer play sessions when you get in the zone. It gives you a sense of awe that no other game in the PlayStation VR launch lineup can rival, offering the most rewarding gameplay as well. There's a lot to learn and quite a bit of nuance to the gameplay -- but it's all fun and rewarding. If you want to see what PlayStation VR is capable of in terms of providing a top-notch gaming experience, check out RIGS as soon as you can.

Driveclub VR is an outstanding showcase for PlayStation VR. As the lone racing game available for it, it stands atop a short mountain -- but its core foundation being so well-crafted bodes well for it working as a showpiece for quite some time. Anyone who loved the original game should check it out, while those who always wondered what was so good about it will find out in the best way possible by experiencing it in VR.

It’s impossible to deny the allure of Rez Infinite. Those who were previously fans are set to have a sublime experience within the PSVR headset. Sure, there’s no Trance Vibrator attachment, but being immersed entirely in Rez’s world is an almost religious experience in and of itself. Anyone brand new to the game is still likely to enjoy their time thanks to the resplendent visuals and magnificent soundtrack. Gameplay was never too difficult, but now it’s even easier to keep pace with swarms of enemies thanks to motion-controlled targeting in the VR edition. Rez Infinite stands as one of the best games of the PSVR launch lineup and absolutely deserves a spot in your PS4 library.

100ft Robot Golf is fun to play, but it’s not all due to the core gameplay — the announcers add a ton of personality. They crack jokes while also lamenting that in order to make this competition, the moon was in fact destroyed. The dark humor throughout works wonderfully and the anime-style cinematics are out of left field given that this is a golf game, but work towards making this bizarre concept even funnier. Everything about this game clicks, even though it probably shouldn’t work in theory. Anyone who loves a casual golf game should check it out.

Gurumin not only offers a great challenge, but makes players want to go back and find every last hidden secret and collectible. The graphics, sound and music all look and sound great on the 3DS. If there is even the tiniest bit of interest in Gurumin, it is absolutely worth picking up. While it may appear to be aimed mainly at younger audiences because of it's cute style, all ages will be able to enjoy it to the fullest. It is easily one of the best 3D action platformers available on the 3DS and is more than worth the price. While it may seem cute and easygoing, there is quite the monstrous adventure waiting in Gurumin 3D.

Batman: Arkham VR doesn't do as much as prior Arkham games -- but what it does is done exceptionally well. Controlling Batman with either a DualShock 4 or Move controllers takes very little getting used to, while the first-person perspective is eased into perfectly. The game does have a limited scope that won't be for everyone, but if you come into it wanting to play as the world's greatest detective and not just as the world's best martial artist, you'll find a memorable adventure. Rocksteady's latest romp through Gotham City is a brief one, but something that fans of the franchise will enjoy a great deal.

Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky mends Metroidvania style platforming and exploring with a traditional JRPG with turn-based battles to surprisingly good effect. The UI leaves something to be desired and backtracking to previously explored areas is not terribly exciting, but neither of these issues ruin the game and there are more than enough positives to offset those imperfections. The story taking place in a world that may be a distant planet or the afterlife is an interesting concept. The pacing does take a few hours for the story to really pick up steam, but that can be forgiven when we are discussing a game that can take an excess of fifty hours to complete. Overall this is a solid game that blends standard RPG conventions with some more unusual elements. It has enough familiarity for RPG fans to feel right at home, but goes outside of the box enough to offer a slightly different experience.

With other toys-to-life franchises seemingly folding by the day, it’s amazing that Skylanders has managed to stay not only wildly successful, but also so fresh and entertaining year after year. Last year’s iteration attempted to change the genre of the series, but Imaginators grounds it in platforming again, this time simply crafting the best gameplay experience possible. Considering how often character creation is simply an afterthought in games, it seems hard to believe that it’s such an appealing and masterful feature here, but it truly makes Skylanders the game it always had the potential to be. Being able to sit back and create strange creature after stranger creature and then having the option to play as it, send it to your phone, trap it in a crystal or turn it into a physical collectible is unique and unparalleled experience in gaming that will surely not only become a mainstay in the Skylanders franchise, but also cribbed by countless other games in the years to come. All the more reason to hop into Imaginators and live the future today.

After such a long wait, PlayStation 4 users finally get to experience Rise of the Tomb Raider in all its glory, and then some. While most of the downloadable content added to the experience since the PC version’s arrival hasn’t been fantastic, Blood Ties adds a much deserved look at Lara Croft’s state of affairs within her family. While it was just an afterthought in past games, or even non-existent in some, it has been expanded up great to give players a better understanding of the Croft name, along with her mother’s side of the tree. Lara’s Nightmare is a little disappointing, being a short experience that takes some of the worst elements of Cold Darkness and brings it to the Croft Manor, but there’s still some classic unlockable skins that should please long running fans. Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration is a joyous occasion that properly commemorates the evolution of Lara Croft and her franchise.

It wouldn't be surprising for Mafia III to emerge as the AAA game with the best story of 2016 as Lincoln Clay's revenge tale, and its wonderful documentary-style presentation, are engrossing from beginning to end, with a host of unique characters that make New Bordeaux feel unlike anywhere else in video games. You'd be hard pressed to find a game that presents some of the most shameful times in our nation's history in a more elegant way, though the realism that comes from being so on the nose is shocking. If you're seeking a sandbox experience on par with Grand Theft Auto V, you're not going to find it here, as Mafia III's side content feels a bit sparse. However, if you're looking for a title that will take you to places that you're not used to going, then this is definitely worth your while.

Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 doesn't radically change the formula of the first game beyond adding a new character. Fortunately, Copen plays slightly differently and does offer up a fresher experience. Anyone who loved the original game will find a lot to enjoy here, although the decreased default difficulty may annoy some who loved being thoroughly challenged by the first. Newcomers to the series who enjoyed Mega Man X-style games in the past will be right at home. The physical version with both Gunvolt games is a fantastic starting point for newbies, while those with the first game should snag this on the eShop as soon as possible.

It might sound like Wheels of Aurelia is a slog, and although it can feel that way on occasion, it is still an enjoyable jaunt across the Via Aurelia. The best suggestion is simply to not attempt to beat it all in one sitting. It’s only after a fourth or fifth replay in one setting that the grinding nature becomes apparent. Playing the game in small chunks and picking it up another day seems the best way to enjoy all that Wheels of Aurelia has to offer. Finally obtaining all endings might be a bit of work, but in the end it’s worth it. Lella’s journey is compelling, and the game itself is unlike anything we’ve seen before.

Destiny: Rise of Iron is a big step back from The Taken King. While The Taken King was willing to push Destiny forward with brand new ideas, features, and a ton of new content, Rise of Iron is perfectly fine with recycling what has been run into the ground. Whether that be the mission design that turned so many people against the game back in 2014, the reskinned enemies, or the lack of new Strikes, Rise of Iron feels more like a recycled experience than an entirely new one. That’s not to say Rise of Iron isn’t fun, as the underlying game mechanics that convinced people to stick around for so long are still there, and new Raid is superb enough to keep players going. Those that are already in love with Destiny will no doubt forgive Rise of Iron’s shortcomings and dig into the content, but for those on the sidelines, or are waiting for the right opportunity to fall in love with Destiny, Rise of Iron is a skippable experience that can be overlooked until the inevitable full-on sequel.

Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters Daybreak: Special Gigs is an enhanced version of a game that is, objectively speaking, a sub-par experiment at niche game design. The newly-added characters, uniforms, animations, tutorials and so on add to what was present originally in a highly beneficial fashion. In fact, many of these things should have been considered and added before the original released. The problem is that the original formula wasn’t great originally. Adding honey mustard to a wilted lettuce wrap might make it taste better, but it’s still not good. For the people who managed to get sucked in before, yes, there is enough here to warrant a double dip, including a mystery item gained from importing a save. For everyone else who were curious before but didn’t try it for various reasons, it’s wise to continue following that instinct.
