Like DDR? You're probably going to dig Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA 2. You've got 70 new songs to play through, a tried-and-true stable of game modes and a lagless -- at least in our play tests -- online experience to hook you up with fans as obsessive as you are. However, make no mistake about it -- this is the same ol' DDR with a new mode and a new track list. When my time on the mat was done, I felt like I had just gotten done with one of the 173 other versions of the game. There's nothing that makes this one stand out.

Despite including an attractive screensaver, and maintaining the fun factor inherent in almost any iteration of Alexey Pajitnov's classic puzzler, Tetris Splash is dead in the water for those who already own any of the dozens of versions of Tetris available on almost every system. Unless 360 owners don't own a version of Tetris, or have a burning need to play against other XBLA gamers, there's simply no reason to spend $10US to wade into Tetris Splash.

It's been said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but this is practically a slap in the face of a title that works really well. Hot Pixel tries to copy the WarioWare formula, but tedious mini-games, extremely basic presentation and repetitive gameplay without any kind of unified theme or reason for playing the mini-games sucks a large amount of fun out of the title. Mini-games might be addictive fun, but you're not going to find it within Hot Pixel.

Dark Mirror was an incredible title that showed off the PSP, but Logan's Shadow elevates the story, gameplay and multiplayer elements to new heights. Not only does it keep the formula that made the first game so good, it smoothly improves on it. The tense action and incredible gun battles are strengthened with the addition of underwater combat and new combat abilities that fit seamlessly into the control scheme. Multiplayer has been bolstered with new modes and re-imagined maps, along with a number of balancing aspects. Logan's Shadow is easily one of the best titles to come out on the system this year.

In many ways, NBA 2K8 is an improved game on the court. But there are a lot of minor issues that really drag it down. Over the course of my first dozen games, I was in love. But as the season wore on, the issues began piling up to a point that it became a source of frustration. The Lock-on D gaff is inexcusable and the lackluster defensive AI allows decent players to tear it up on offense. Jason Williams should not be dropping 30 points a game. Yet he won the MVP in year two of my franchise. Still, any hoops fan should give NBA 2K8 a look. It's certainly the best basketball game on any system this year. The Association is a solid franchise mode and, if VC can iron out its AI and gameplay issues, next year's model could be something very special.

We dig the Dragon Blade concept, and it's one of the reasons we've been following the game so close since its first showing during pre-E3 showings. Wii needs more games like Dragon Blade, not only on the "original IP" train of thought, but as far as beat-em-ups go. The game simply suffers from what looks like a fast development time, not a ton of experience with the hardware yet, and a full retail pricing. As a $40 game (still better than $50) Dragon Blade lacks in far too many areas to be worth the cash, as the combat is simple, the design is entirely one-dimensional, and the simplistic enemy AI and gameplay bugs get in the way of an otherwise straightforward design. For fans of beat-em-up games, or for those that just want to try something new on Wii, give this one a rental, or wait until it drops a bit more before purchasing. Everyone else is free to join us on the wait for a more polished, focused, and ambitious effort in a sequel. The concept is there, but the execution isn't.

Sony has managed to get the balance between mini-games and basketball right for a second year in a row, which is truly incredible. The addition of four new and amusing mini-games are a lot of fun, and the additional depth that was added to Conquest mode makes the feature more engaging than ever before. The new focus on downloadable content, particularly with additional pinball boards is pretty cool as well. While there haven't been a lot of fixes to the gameplay, the added player chemistry does strengthen the traditionally weaker court action. Overall, NBA 08 is a nice follow up to last year's impressive title.

Did you give in? Did you give up hope? Are you one of the loyal fans from seven years ago who got fed up with waiting and just bit the bullet, paying to import an actual N64 cartridge of the Japanese version of Sin & Punishment? If you did, and that's you, well – well done. We're not going to fault you for that, as you likely had a blast experiencing the game in its original edition. But for you, along with all the other gamers who've never yet experienced S&P, we're still going to recommend an immediate download. Invest 1200 Wii Points here, and do it quickly. Because Sin & Punishment is an N64 masterpiece, the hardware swansong that Americans never got to hear. And because here on the Virtual Console it looks better and is more accessible than ever before – its newly translated menus and training modes are the first sign of Nintendo taking the time to make a positive revision to an existing retro title before making it available in the Wii Shop, and that it's even been made available at all speaks volumes for the potential of countless other games in the Big N's back catalog that never got the chance to come to the States. Download Sin & Punishment not just because you'll be getting an outstanding game, but also because you'll be voicing your support for the addition of more import titles to the Virtual Console in the future. Nintendo's made a wise decision in offering this product to American gamers, finally, after such a long time. Let's just hope they keep it up, and that we don't have to wait for the next major import release for another seven years.

Step away from the budget title. Slowly turn around, and make for the exit. There are nine levels in the game, but why you'd want to play past the first few steps of the first stage is a question only a neurologist and an expert team of psychologists could answer. The only way this game could possibly be recommended, is that if the purchase is intended for anyone under the age of four, and boasts the intelligence of an M&M (no offense to you, personally, if your child is a moron). The notion that publishers have the balls to (re-)release such trash is beyond human comprehension. Save your money, or be prepared to spend tenfold on intensive psychotherapy.

Despite being the best game in the series because of some lovely visuals and good gameplay enhancements, The Settlers: Rise of an Empire still manages to screw enough things up to be aggravating. The game is decent to be sure and borders on being a truly good game, but a lack of trade and diplomatic functionality are absolutely frustrating on top of a very basic combat design that isn’t good enough for the amount of combat forced upon players. The huge problem, of course, is the save and crash bugs that can keep you from finishing some of the long missions. If you’re willing to deal with the bugs and like charming town building games like this one, it’s definitely worth a try. We at least recommend giving the demo a look.

Unfortunately, this game isn't for Grandma and little Jane, which is unfortunate, since this could have been the ultimate party game. Sure, getting another few people around the TV is infinitely more enjoyable than the single-player experience, but figuring out the precise hook patterns to overcome the dynamic lane conditions can be overly intimidating. With a little bit of patience, and general ignorance of the laughable presentation, graphics, and sound, there is a fairly deep bowling simulation under the surface of it all. Just don't expect the same experience as the arcade-ish Wii Sports and it will be harder to get disappointed – but not impossible.
