Despite being somewhat shallow, it’s apparent that a lot of polish went into the making of PokePark 2: Wonders Beyond. The world and the characters within are amazingly well done - if only the game itself was more engaging. But too much repetition and too little depth hold it back from reaching the larger audience the core Pokemon games have enjoyed for years. As it stands, only very young kids - or those desperate to run around as Pikachu - will really get anything out of this game. That’s clearly what the intended audience was, and the developers succeeded at making a game that will appeal to that market. But as for everyone else, especially those who’ve already played the original, very similar PokePark Wii, we’d all do better to hold off for the next true Pokemon title.
