Back in 2012, I called Sleeping Dogs one of the biggest -- and most pleasant -- surprises of the year. Two years later, the surprise has obviously dissipated, but that doesn't take away from what United Front Games achieved here. Playing the Definitive Edition reminded me how much I enjoyed its excellent story and characters, combat, and city, but also made me pine for a true new-gen sequel. The differences here might not be worth paying for a second time, but if you missed out on this great open-world action game the first time, you shouldn’t repeat that mistake.

Deux ans après avoir surpris en bien les joueurs Xbox 360, PS3, et encore un plus sur PC, la version optimale, Sleeping Dogs : Definitive Edition débarque sur PS4, Xbox One et de nouveau sur PC. En technique pure, ceux qui avaient déjà une très bonne configuration pour faire tourner le jeu en 2012 ne noteront certainement pas de différences flagrantes (si ce n'est les 24 DLC présents d'office), contrairement aux joueurs PS4 et One, qui auront ici une version bien plus impressionnante et agréable à jouer. Un titre indispensable à découvrir pour ceux qui n'auraient pas encore écumé les vivantes artères de Hong Kong, où la mort est aussi omniprésente dans Sleeping Dogs.

Square Enix y UFG han querido redondear su excelente franquicia sandbox realizando una conversión realmente sólida y repleta de mejoras para PS4, PC y Xbox One. Visualmente se nota su salto de calidad en comparación con lo registrado en las ediciones de PS3 - Xbox 360, y el hecho de incorporar todos los paquetes DLC de serie (algunos de ellos integrados dentro de la propia aventura) nos parece un gran acierto.

For those who missed out on Sleeping Dogs two years ago, the title is correct: this is the definitive version. Unfortunately, those who already visited the compressed streets of Hong Kong will have almost no incentive to go back. All of the downloadable content that was slowly rolled out post-launch is included here, but they’re not worthy of your time to begin with. The upgraded visual effects add to the overall atmosphere of the fantastic brooding story, and the action packed combat will have you coming back for more, even though the driving mechanics will take some time to get used to. While the landscape for open world action titles has changed drastically over the last two years, somehow Sleeping Dogs remains a diverse and highly impactful experience.

Tout comme lors de sa sortie sur old-gen, Sleeping Dogs est un jeu fort sympathique. Certes, l'IA est à revoir et tous les aspects du gameplay ne sont pas parfaits, mais en dehors de cela, le titre de United Front offre un voyage tout simplement extraordinaire au cœur de l'univers passionnant des triades hongkongaises. Et quand bien même vous ne seriez pas particulièrement attiré par le thème proposé, vous trouveriez là un GTA-like honnête qui, à défaut d'être original, devrait savoir séduire tous les fans du genre. Notons toutefois que si vous disposez déjà du jeu original, cette Definitive Edition ne présente quasiment aucun intérêt.

Die brutalen Nahkämpfe, das doppelte Spiel für Polizei und Gangster sowie die explosive Geschichte sind so unterhaltsam wie vor zwei Jahren. Es fehlt zwar noch immer die enge Verknüpfung des anarchischen Sandkastens mit dem erzählerischen Rahmen und auch in der Definitive Edition hat jeder Baustein – von den Schlägereien über das Fahrverhalten bis hin zur lückenhaften Erzählung – praktisch unveränderte Schwächen. Sleeping Dogs fügt die Elemente aber souverän zusammen und überzeugt mit einem halbwegs bodenständigen Szenario. Die grafische Politur hätte es dafür nicht gebraucht: Das herausgeputzte Spiel sieht besser aus, wird der modernen Hardware aber nicht gerecht. Somit ist die Definitive Edition ein inhaltlich erweitertes, spielerisch und technisch aber nach wie vor nur befriedigendes Abenteuer.

Nonostante due anni sul groppone, Sleeping Dogs è ancora oggi un gioco dal gameplay molto godibile, divertente e variegato con una bella trama. Se fate parte quelli che hanno già giocato al titolo sviluppato da United Front Games non troverete in questa nuova edizione particolari motivi per poter tornare a visitare la città di Hong Kong. Se invece non avete giocato al titolo originale uscito due anni fa, siete possessori di una console di nuova generazione e cercate un free roaming di buona qualità Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition è un prodotto che ci sentiamo di consigliarvi.

Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition llega ya sin el factor sorpresa que tuvo el original para ofrecernos una interesante aventura policiaca que sabe entretener con una propuesta de lo más variada e interesante. Lo hace además ofreciendo en un solo pack todos los contenidos descargables que el título ha tenido. Sin embargo las mejoras no son suficientes para justificar su compra, ya que aparte del lavado de cara visual (que no resulta ni mucho menos profundo), nos encontramos con casi los mismos aciertos y errores. Una vez más, una alternativa a tener en cuenta, si no se ha jugado al título original. No será el mejor remaster del año, ni tampoco el sandbox más rico de 2014, pero merece la pena jugarlo.
