Starfield is a magnificent game in both size and scope, with intense potential for players to find themselves blissfully lost. When I began my playthrough, I was utterly verklempt when seeing the diverse array of worlds on display, and grateful that my PC, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S were capable of handling them. There are compromises of frame rate for console players (locked at 30FPS), but you’ll still find a shockingly stable, layered experience with so much to do it boggles the mind. Starfield is the most potent value proposition for Game Pass, being the killer app for the subscription service. It is also the best, most ambitious game in the Xbox Game Studios library to date. It would not be a stretch to say this could be one of the most ambitious games ever made, and that it followed through with many of those goals with relatively low compromise. For those fearing this game was Bethesda flying too close to the sun, this is a reminder that this same ambition, mixed with lots of caution and expertise, is also what put us on the moon.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is an incredible game full of player-driven choices and expressive combat. I think Baldur’s Gate 3 could easily be GOTY for RPG lovers and people familiar with Larian Studios’ games and D&D. I also think people unfamiliar with either Larian Studios’ or D&D could struggle to find their groove with Baldur’s Gate and consider it more of a four stars out of five kind of game. If you have three solid friends, the best way to experience Baldur’s Gate 3 is through weekly gaming sessions. It’s so much fun and I look forward to every Tuesday and Thursday night to play more Baldur’s Gate 3 with my parties. There are a few things like poor performance in Act 3 and the lack of a tutorial that keep Baldur’s Gate 3 from being perfect. That said, no game is perfect, and what Baldur’s Gate 3 does bring to the table is innovative, imaginative, and extremely fun. I absolutely love Baldur’s Gate 3; the more progress I make, the more hooked I become. Every moment I’m not playing Baldur’s Gate 3, I wish I was… so let me wrap this up — go play Baldur’s Gate 3! It’s a defining RPG that masterfully blends all that’s brilliant about D&D into an equally convenient and engaging video game best suited for four wide-eyed adventurers.

In no way is Redfall groundbreaking — but sometimes all a game needs to be is fun to play, and Arkane has created an experience that is a hell of a good time. Is it Arkane’s best game? Probably not. But there is so much to love here as the gameplay is addicting, intense, and will pull you back for another session. While the game could have benefited from the ability to upgrade weapons, more sidequests, and quality in-depth cutscenes for storytelling, what the game does right, it does with flying colors.

The worst thing that can be said about Kirby and the Forgotten Land is simply that there isn’t more of it. Previous experiments with a 3D Kirby might have missed the mark, but this title makes up for any shortcomings with its new additions and altered mechanics. Forgotten Land is both a truly fantastic Kirby game and one of the best games anyone can find on the Switch. With enough time and polish, a new title building off of Forgotten Land’s ambitions could make for a truly perfect game.
