Planetfall è, a mani basse, il miglior titolo della serie. Un'ambientazione molto curata, gli aggiustamenti alla componente gestionale e battaglie tattiche sempre divertenti, tutto contribuisce a un'esperienza 4X di prim'ordine. La campagna non esalta, ma le ampie possibilità di personalizzazione degli scenari non ne fanno sentire la mancanza. Il nuovo prodotto di Triumph è, appunto, al suo meglio quando si allontana dai predecessori, ma conserva ancora alcuni limiti di design che sarebbe stato meglio lasciarsi alle spalle. La complessità è relativamente elevata, non a livello dei wargame più coriacei ma superiore a Civilization, e in alcuni frangenti il carico di microgestione imposto al giocatore si fa pesante. Nonostante queste sbavature, però, Planetfall è una gioia da giocare: Triumph e Paradox hanno fatto centro.

Age of Wonders: Planetfall mescola in modo eccellente la serie XCOM con quella Civilization. Triumph è riuscita a compiere un lavoro di sintesi notevole, senza però rinunciare alle caratteristiche peculiari dei capitoli passati della serie, in particolare ai combattimenti tattici che tante soddisfazioni sono in grado di dare. Unica nota negativa viene dallo stile generale, un po' anonimo, ma per il resto c'è davvero poco da lamentarsi. Qualcuno troverà soverchiante il numero di cose da fare inizialmente, ma si tratta di un problema relativo soltanto alle prime ore di gioco. Del resto titoli come Age of Wonders: Planetfall sono pensati per essere giocati centinaia di ore, quindi è normale che possano spaventare se li si approccia in modo superficiale o svogliato.

Age of Wonders: Planetfall is a dazzling, slick, diverse 4X with snappy and exciting turn-based combat and a story I was always eager to discover more of. My biggest concern is that when I finish the last couple faction stories I'll feel like I'm done with it altogether. The randomized maps haven’t convinced me they have enough going on to keep me coming back for hundreds more turns. But even if that's the case, it's an experience I can already recommend highly. I guess you could say I've Planet-fallen for it.

Age of Wonders: Planetfall is an imaginative sci-fi strategy game that adds some interesting new layers to the series’ empire management and combat mechanics, but, ultimately, the game falls just short of greatness. Combat needs to be a touch deeper and standard 4X ingredients like trading, religion, and government policies are missed. Planetfall is certainly worth exploring, but not all strategy fans are going to want to set up permanent residence.

Age of Wonders Planetfall tutto sommato si presenta in un periodo estivo che gli è quasi favorevole: difficile immaginare quale impatto avrà sul mercato console, su cui debutta per la prima volta da quando è nata la saga, ma comunque per gli appassionati degli strategici a turni, la nuova iterazione di Triumph Studios e Paradox Interactive si mostra come un prodotto valido e da tenere in considerazione per un futuro acquisto.

Como conclusión podemos decir que Age of Wonders: Planetfall es un juego de estrategia muy completo, con muchas horas de juego y un gran formato ya probado. Sin duda es una buena primera incursión al espacio y aunque la campaña se haga algo engorrosa es un buen comienzo para explorar la cantidad de información de la que dispone el título. Que a su vez tiene experiencia de juego suficiente para mantenernos durante horas enganchado a la pantalla, con la ayuda de los mods de la comunidad probablemente sea jugado durante años. Además Triumph Studios se ha probado buen oidor de quejas, pues está entrega está completamente traducida al español, una de las quejas recurrentes de su predecesor.

En conclusion, nous pouvons dire qu’Age of Wonders : Planetfall saura ravir les fans de stratégie en 4X, et en solo. En effet, nous avons du mal à conseiller ce titre en multijoueur à cause de la longueur de ses tours et combats. Planetfall peut aussi faire office de porte d’entrée aux joueurs voulant s’essayer à ce type de jeu. Nous espérons cependant que ses principaux défauts seront réglés dans les prochaines mises à jour.
