Acabar con decenas de nazis desde la mirilla de nuestro rifle sigue siendo divertido, pero la apuesta por los escenarios abiertos, pese a que parezca algo positivo, termina restando algunos de los elementos más estratégicos que hacían de Sniper Elite una saga única. Un paso atrás para la franquicia.

Chi sceglie di giocare a Sniper Elite non lo fa per il suo sottofondo tattico o per la sua interessante balistica: lo fa per mettere a ferro e fuoco i campi di battaglia del secondo conflitto mondiale e, soprattutto, per far esplodere centinaia di crani nazisti. E in questo Sniper Elite 4 non è certamente secondo a nessuno. Sebbene l'intelligenza artificiale continui a mostrare alcune delle defezioni del passato, il cecchinaggio a raggi X e l'utilizzo delle trappole restano sempre appaganti, soprattutto nel momento in cui si rinuncia integralmente a tutti quegli aiuti che appiattiscono la balistica e l'aggressività dei nemici. Anche tecnicamente, almeno su PC, il titolo si difende alla grande: alcuni scenari sono davvero splendidi (come il Viadotto Regilino e il Monastero di Abrunza) e, in generale, l'immagine ci è parsa più pulita rispetto al precedente episodio, grazie ad effetti di post-processing e particellari di discreta fattura. Ci dispiace solo non aver potuto testare il comparto multigiocatore - corredo comunque secondario di questo Sniper Elite - sul quale però torneremo con uno speciale dedicato non appena il titolo verrà reso disponibile per tutti sullo store di Valve.

Avec ce quatrième volet situé en Italie, ce Sniper Elite 4 est-il finalement un retour gagnant ? Alors oui, le jeu est toujours sympathique à jouer, mais il a de gros défauts c’est clair et net. Si, incontestablement, Sniper Elite 4 repose sur des bases extrêmement solides tout en y ajoutant ce petit soupçon de liberté, puis en approfondissant un peu son côté infiltration, son réalisme indéniable et sa verticalité, la production de Rebellion ressort malheureusement ses défauts que l’on a toujours pointé du doigt. Soit justement le scénario pas vraiment intéressant avec une fin prévisible, quelques déplacements encore un peu rigides sont à signaler, l’I.A. qui est encore à revoir sur certains points, puis l’aspect graphique pas vilain de base, commençant à devenir un peu vieillot. Après très franchement, le jeu est vraiment bon au niveau de son gameplay en globalité, puis l’utilisation du sniper est toujours aussi réaliste. En somme, les néophytes comme les mordus de la licence pourront clairement se laisser tenter une fois encore sur ce nouveau volet, mais ne vous attendez pas à des merveilles graphique ou scénaristique. Puis après tout, jouer à Sniper Elite 4 en pleine guerre dans une Italie dépaysante, ça se laisse tenter et puis le soft reste globalement bon et fun avec ses quelques nouveautés, notamment avec un multijoueur qui pourra prolonger sa durée de vie déjà bonne à la base. La concurrence va devoir mettre la barre assez haute pour rivaliser avec Sniper Elite 4.

Looking down the scope and holding your breath to line up that perfect shot in Sniper Elite 4 is exhilarating, as are the subsequent Kill Cams. It’s just a shame that the poorly delivered story and wooden characters get in the way.
