I polacchi di Bloober Team tentano finalmente il salto di qualità, con un horror piuttosto coinvolgente ed a tratti terrificante, che strizza l’occhio ai classici di Edgar Allan Poe. Layers of Fear esagera a più riprese con i jumpscare, inciampa una volta di troppo in errori da principiante e si lascia sfuggire anche qualche incertezza tecnica, ma riesce a mantenere un livello qualitativo piuttosto alto, grazie ad alcune ottime trovate nel level design e ad un’imponente colonna sonora.

Layers of Fear è un'esperienza horror coinvolgente, capace di immedesimarci all'interno di un loop sempre più disturbato e raccapricciante. L'obiettivo di suscitare tensione e infondere spavento è riuscito a meraviglia, ciò nondimeno l'approccio scelto da Bloober ha tolto qualcosa in chiave interattiva, rendendo il fluire dei livelli molto lineare e per niente plasmabile da parte del giocatore. Gli enigmi avrebbero potuto sopperire a questa esigenza, donando un maggior bilanciamento complessivo, ma appare evidente che non si sia voluto osare più del dovuto. Il gioco rimane comunque caldamente consigliato a tutti gli estimatori di P.T. e a chi sia alla ricerca di una deriva horror un po' diversa dai grandi classici.

Layers of Fear entführt euch in einen Alptraum, in dem man zunehmend seinen Verstand verliert! Dieser Horror-Trip überrascht immer wieder mit verstörenden Situationen, erschreckt mit clever platzierten Schockeffekten und zeigt eine surreale Welt des Grauens. Das Bedrohungsgefühl ist zunächst enorm, aber man vermisst irgendwann Konsequenzen. Die vermeintliche Gefahr entpuppt sich zu schnell als Illusion und man weiß, dass man um sein virtuelles Leben nicht bangen muss. Zusammen mit den kaum vorhandenen Rätseln und der mitunter mühseligen Suche nach Hinweisen lässt der Angst-Faktor zu früh zu wünschen übrig. So ist es in erster Linie den einfallsreichen Psycho-Spielchen in Kombination mit der gelungenen audiovisuellen Präsentation zu verdanken, dass dieser Abstieg in den Wahnsinn doch noch bis zum Ende gut unterhalten kann. Auf den Konsolen muss man allerdings eine schwächelnde Unity-Engine sowie weitere technische Abstriche in Kauf nehmen, die sich leicht auf die Wertung auswirken.

Si os gustó Layers of Fear, esta expansión Inheritance es un buen cierre para la historia de esta pobre familia. Tiene en esencia todo lo bueno y malo del original, pero condensado en un paquete menor a un precio bastante asequible de unos 5 euros. Si no os gustó el original o no os convenció en exceso al ser más walking simulator que título de terror, este DLC no os hará cambiar de opinión. Si por el contrario os gustó, tendréis más escenarios de locura, una gran ambientación y una historia atractiva pero que podría haber sido contada mejor.

It makes a strong first impression, but quickly exhausts its best ideas, making it hard for them to really shine as scary or meaningful moments. It’s hard to be terrified when you can see what’s coming at the end of every long dark hallway.
