Un "sandbox" de la vieja escuela, que destaca por las posibilidades de destrucción y el enorme mundo abierto de Solís. Exploración y combate resultan muy divertidos, pero las misiones se vuelven repetitivas y el apartado técnico muestra algunos fallos.

Just Cause 4 has everything you expect from a Just Cause game, almost to a fault. Relative to Just Cause 3 the improvements are widespread across its beautiful open world, but generally minor. So while blowing up yet another dictator’s army is the same kind of mindless explosive fun and physics-based comedy the series is built on, it doesn’t do much to incorporate the new weather systems or grapple mods into combat. That leaves me with a distinct “more of the same” feeling.

Avalanche Studios tenta di portare la serie verso vette ancora più alte rispetto al passato, riuscendoci in larga parte, ma fallendo ad un passo dalla meta a causa di uno scarso lavoro di rifinitura dal punto di vista tecnico, che ci è parso piuttosto frettoloso, e ad un intelligenza artificiale dei nemici piuttosto elementare che mina la qualità complessiva dell’esperienza di gioco. Nonostante i difetti sopra citati, tuttavia, questo nuovo capitolo delle avventure di Rico Rodriguez resta assolutamente consigliato a tutti i fan della saga, e a coloro in cerca di un open world nel quale darsi al casinismo più spensierato.

Just Cause 4 è il tipico caso di "more of the same". Di certo è possibile notare un'evoluzione delle meccaniche di gioco se paragonate al capitolo precedente. Non mi sento però in grado di promuovere al 100% il titolo, soprattutto per la delusione provata nel constatare l'impatto marginale, sia nell'ambientazione che nel gameplay, dei fenomeni atmosferici tanto pubblicizzati. Tirando le somme, se siete videogiocatori a cui interessa solamente il gameplay nudo e crudo, sparatorie e devastazione, Just Cause 4 saprà probabilmente soddisfare le vostre esigenze. A tutti gli altri consiglio invece di valutare attentamente l'acquisto, data la ripetitività delle azioni che sarete tenuti a fare per l'intera durata dell'esperienza.

Just Cause 4 es un juego de acción en mundo abierto divertido y repleto de acción/destrucción. Ofrece más posibilidades que sus predecesores en la serie, al permitirnos configurar nuestro gancho de millones de formas distintas, pero fracasa a la hora de dar forma a la propuesta, presentando una historia que no consigue engancharnos, misiones principales simplemente correctas, y opciones secundarias que tampoco consiguen subir el listón. Como decían en el anuncio de TV, 'la potencia sin control no sirve de nada', y algo parecido le ha pasado a Avalanche con esta cuarta entrega: tienen las herramientas, pero no consiguen dar con la tecla para crear un juego que trascienda lo conseguido en anteriores entregas.

Just Cause 4 es, una vez más, un sandbox de los de siempre, que una vez destaca por su principal característica, el caos y la destrucción llevados al límite en un Solís que tiene en su haber un nuevo elemento para la saga, la climatología extrema, que se comporta y luce de forma espectacular que nos llevará aproximadamente 25 horas completar. No obstante, aunque para los fans de la saga Avalanche Studio ha creado un título que ofrece más de lo que gusta, también se siente que necesita algo de renovación en su gameplay, que cuenta con una historia no tan profunda que casi es una mera escusa para ponernos a volar cosas por los aires y no ofrece apenas trasfondo. Técnicamente el juego se comporta de forma soberbia, aunque hay elementos en el diseño de personajes, algunas físicas demasiado exageradas y otros aspectos que en comparación con otros los efectos climatológicos y dadas las posibilidades de Apex Engine, podría haber llegado con algo más de cuidado.

La apabullante extensión terrenal de Solís junto con la espectacularidad de los eventos climáticos cambiantes quedan descompensados con la monotonía de misiones, la ineficaz IA enemiga y los pequeños bugs del juego. Just Cause 4 es la entrega más ambiciosa de Avalanche Studio y Square Enix, y la verdad que consigue entretenernos, pero no consigue profundizar en la historia ni aprovechar los recursos jugables para proporcionar consistencia jugable e intentar que volvamos tras una pausa a jugarlo.

Just Cause 4 è come un giro sull’ottovolante, un titolo divertente e spensierato. Il L’obiettivo principale è quello di scatenare il caos sullo schermo, tra esplosioni, inseguimenti mozzafiato e trovate fuori di testa da inventarsi per eliminare i nemici. Non aspettatevi quindi una trama sofisticata o un sistema di progressione profondo e curato. Piuttosto avrete di fronte un’avventura sparatutto senza fronzoli tutto sommato piacevole, capace di intrattenere per ore e che si spera possa ricevere a breve qualche patch che risolva i piccoli problemi tecnici emersi, migliorandone in particolare la fluidità nei momenti più caotici.

Just Cause 4 est le digne héritier d'une saga débutée en 2006. Il émane de ce TPS en monde ouvert un sentiment de liberté enivrant propre à la série. Le titre d'Avalanche Studios conserve toutes les forces de la franchise, et certaines de ses faiblesses, mais améliore sa formule bac à sable. Les affrontements gagnent en intensité tandis que la carte tient un rôle central dans la progression. Cependant, les changements météorologiques n'impactent que trop peu une expérience au demeurant répétitive. Et si l'île de Solis est bel et bien une source de dépaysement, celle-ci souffre d'une technique ballottée par les intempéries qui ne rend pas justice à cette épopée décomplexée et libertaire incarnée par Rico Rodriguez.

Just Cause 4 delivers a truly astounding open world that lacks much to do beyond “blow up more gas tanks.” A shallow story, an absence of interesting NPCs, and frustrating mission design make for an uninvolving game that sometimes feels like a job to play. There is fun to be had in Just Cause 4, but only if you stage a revolution against what the game wants you to do.

Vous pouvez rajouter un point à la note si vous êtes sur PC, mais la version PS4 (en tournant en plus sous PS4 Pro) est réellement décevante d’un point de vue graphique, et technique sur quelques points. Just Cause 4 a au moins le mérite de proposer un titre ambitieux voulant bousculer un peu les habitudes de la licence. Si le côté sérieux du scénario n’est pas une franche réussite, on note une volonté d’atténuer les gros défauts de Just Cause 3 (c’est loin d’être parfait non plus) tout en renforçant le gameplay bourrin, et l’aspect créatif façon MacGyver. Ce sont surtout pour ces dernières raisons que l’on prend un Just Cause alors globalement, l’ensemble reste positif.

Just Cause 4 still has some of the best sandbox action around, but it’s a game where making your own fun is the best part about it. If the developers could help players along in this regard by tuning missions to actually use these tools more frequently it could help this game feel more engaging. As it stands, Just Cause 4 more often than not feels like an average open world third person shooter than it does the explosion filled bonanza that it should be.

Just Cause 4 is a tale of two games. When left to yourself, the game can be an absolute blast. Calling in powerful weaponry and vehicles to blow up bases of enemies rarely ever gets old. Traversing the distinct biomes while swapping between the wingsuit and parachute remains a fun way to get across the world. On the other hand, the terrible enemy AI quickly turns combat into a real bore and the redundant objectives strip the game of what makes it a blast in the first place. It also doesn’t help that, aside from the supply drops, the game’s signature features never live up to their potential. The new grappling hook options are fun to play with but don’t serve a purpose in the heat of combat. Weather, while cool to look at, doesn’t alter gameplay in meaningful ways. Just Cause 4 delivers on the destruction, but the game never lives up to its massive potential.

Just Cause 4 est le symbole d’une licence qui refuse la remise en question, par peur de perdre son essence et son public. À l’arrivée, il n’est rien de plus qu’une pâle évolution de Just Cause 3, sans ajout réellement majeur pour justifier de changer de point de vue. Autrement dit, les adeptes de défouloirs foutraques sans queue ni tête auront bien quelques heures à perdre dans ce nouveau terrain de jeu qui ne permet pas tout non plus. Il leur faudra quand même fermer les yeux sur des qualités techniques d’un autre âge. Just Cause 4, ou la dictature des acquis.
