Simply put, MLB The Show 16 is the best baseball game available on any current-gen console. It looks, plays, and feels amazing, offering many ways to play the great American pastime. Franchise and Road to the Show modes have made incremental but impressive improvements, while Diamond Dynasty offers entirely new ways to play. Not every mode works, but it’s encouraging to see such a radical new mix of gameplay.

While last year's release felt like the series was plateauing, this year, MLB The Show 16 returns better than ever. The gameplay remains consistently solid, and tweaks and additions to Road to the Show and Diamond Dynasty will surely keep people coming back for more.

Another year and another good outing for SCE San Diego Studio. MLB The Show 16 has some great improvements for Road to the Show, but some problems still persist. Baseball lovers will definitely enjoy the game.

Las sensaciones con el juego de este año nos dejan mucho más satisfechos que en campañas anteriores. MLB 16: The Show es un título más que notable en todos y cada uno de sus apartados y aunque no supone una auténtica revolución (al final en juegos de simulación deportiva parece que "está todo ya inventado") sí que aporta mejoras y añadidos que no lo hacen parecer un clon de la edición de 2015. Sigue a años luz de distancia de cualquier intento de competidor, por lo que podríamos decir sin que nos temblara el pulso que es "el mejor juego moderno de béisbol".

Whereas NBA 2K16 found a way to take a step back last year with additions that didn't feel wholly meaningful, MLB The Show 16 is a shining example of exactly how to make a great game even better. It's not without its warts, but when you consider the talent and work ethic present at Sony San Diego, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the menu navigation and server dropping issues ironed out over the course of the next few weeks. Still, technical issues notwithstanding, MLB The Show brings meaningful additions to all of its major modes, with Battle Royale and the quality of life improvements in the addictive Road to the Show being the clear standouts here. A combination of depth and accessibility in all of its modes, with the exceptions of Franchise and Conquest, allows for even the most jaded former baseball fans to enjoy a trip to the virtual diamond, and this is no small feat. Oh, and it goes without saying that, as of this moment, MLB The Show 16 is the premiere way to see the Chicago Cubs emerge victorious in a World Series, so if you're a resident of the South Side, you're going to want to get your hands on this title as soon as possible. Okay, perhaps ending on a cheap Cubs dig wasn't the best way to end this review, but let's face it, your team is probably going to win it all this year, so it can't really be that bad, can it?
