Bravely Second might not take as many risks as a sequel should, but that doesn't matter so much when you experience the great character interaction, impressive graphics, outstanding soundtrack and addictive gameplay of this wonderful RPG.

To make a fittingly Nintendo-affiliated comparison, Bravely Second: End Layer is to the 3DS what Bayonetta 2 was to the Wii U: a sequel with its own respectable amount of anticipation that, while offering little by way of drastic change, delivers more than enough fresh and returning moments to remind us all (new and veteran players alike) why such a release struck an immeasurable chord in the first place. Bravely Second is without question another memorable, worthwhile and undeniably essential play for anyone striving to get their latest RPG fix. And what better way to do it with a game (and a series) that takes from the glory days of the SNES and gels it wonderfully with a continually-enticing and fully-rewarding battle system that rarely gets old or falls victim to stagnation. But with the return of its elegantly-drawn art-style, its humble aesthetic and joyfully self-aware attitude, Bravely Second marks itself a perfect follow-up to one of handheld gaming's most beloved debuts -- the sequel now standing proudly as another rightly-billed "essential" in the 3DS library.

As a sequel, Bravely Second: End Layer does everything right. It improves on its predecessor in nearly every way, shakes things up enough to still be exciting for players who may have recently poured sixty hours into the first game, and offers a meaningful chance to reconnect with beloved characters. Even better, it's a nearly-perfect JRPG in its own right. Beautiful, well-written, and endlessly engaging in gameplay and story, this is a wonderful example of why people fall in love with the genre. Simply put, Bravely Second is a must-play for JRPG fans, and one of the 3DS' finest games to date.

Bravely Second is exactly what a sequel should be, improving upon the foundation of the original while adding in its own ideas to further enhance the experience. The 60+ hour adventure is more consistent than the first game, and the main plot and side quests are more elaborate and engaging. Turn-based RPGs may not be the talk of the town as they once were, but Bravely Second stands near the top of the genre’s catalog and will hopefully be a wake up call to developers that turn-based RPGs still have plenty of life left in them.

Giocare Bravely Second è stato come rivedere un caro amico che ci mancava da qualche anno: un po' è cambiato, ma fondamentalmente è rimasto lo stesso e gli vogliamo bene proprio per questo. È innegabile, però, che per essere un gioco che ne parla fin dal titolo, di coraggio Bravely Second non ne dimostri poi molto. In certi momenti ci è sembrato quasi di giocare a un'espansione, un Bravely Default 2.0 più ricco e più divertente, ma comunque troppo simile all'originale, dall'interfaccia assolutamente identica ai contenuti totalmente riciclati nelle missioni secondarie. Questo ovviamente significa che i fan del prequel ameranno questo seguito alla follia, mentre i giocatori che non hanno apprezzato Bravely Default per qualsivoglia motivo farebbero bene a starne alla larga.

Bravely Second constitue bel et bien une parodie de suite, mais dans le bon sens du terme. Ainsi, la narration tourne en dérision le classicisme de l'intrigue et le recyclage des éléments du précédent épisode, assumant la démarche par la même occasion. En outre, ce second degré cache un propos autrement plus sérieux et ambitieux. Les évolutions du gameplay en bouleversent les principes pour repousser ses limites que l'on croyait déjà paroxysmiques, tandis que le scénario s'aventure dans une expérience "métaludique" qui implique plus que jamais le joueur. Alors on a beau dire que les meilleures plaisanteries sont les plus courtes, cet adage ne s'applique pas à End Layer, qui mérite qu'on lui consacre beaucoup plus de temps qu'une seconde.

Bravely Second : End Layer plaira incontestablement aux joueurs de Bravely Default : Flying Fairies. Le plaisir de connaitre le devenir des anciens et de suivre les nouveaux est présent de même que son gameplay très riche avec tout un tas de nouvelles classes à se mettre sous la dent. Malgré tout, on assiste à du réchauffé pur et dur. N’espérer pas un renouveau quelconque, seulement des améliorations mineures. Malgré tout, le J-RPG de Square Enix et Silicon Studio reste incontestablement l’un des meilleurs de la 3DS.

La brillantez de su sistema de combate y la variedad de profesiones en las que te puedes especializar hacen de Bravely Second una gran aventura de rol japonés, pero no es la secuela que esperábamos. Echamos en falta novedades y sobre todo, un mejor argumento que ayudara a minimizar la sensación de déjà vu que supone recorrer una vez más las mismas localizaciones que en el juego original. Le ha faltado valentía al equipo de Silicon Studio, que se ha limitado a cumplir el trámite con un buen juego, adictivo y emocionante por momentos, pero también algo lejos de la calidad esperada.

Mit Bravely Second: End Layer setzen die 3D-Dot-Game-Heroes-Macher ihr charmantes 3DS-Rollenspiel im Stil japanischer 16-Bit-Klassiker à la Final Fantasy oder Dragon Quest routiniert fort. Trotz frischer Story, Figuren und Charakterklassen werden sich Bravely-Default-Veteranen sofort heimisch fühlen und viele vertraute Orte, Gesichter und Spielelemente entdecken. An den Abläufen und Systemen hat man so gut wie nichts verändert, so dass die Symbiose aus Zufallskämpfen und freier Spielanpassung, Rundentaktik und Zeitmanipulation sowie Soloabenteuer und Koop-Vernetzung nach wie vor gut harmoniert. Allerdings sind auch fast alle Laster wieder mit an Bord. Neben fragwürdigen Mikrotransaktionen und durchwachsenem Charakterdesign fällt vor allem der zähe und wiederholungsintensive Spielfluss wieder negativ auf. So episch und wendungsreich die Handlung auch sein mag, Dramaturgie und Inszenierung lassen trotz üppiger Vertonung und gelungener Effekte erneut zu wünschen übrig. Dennoch: Wer dies schon dem Vorgänger verzeihen konnte, wird auch mit der Fortsetzung glücklich; Fans klassisch geprägter Japan-Rollenspiele sowieso.

Pris seul, Bravely Second est un excellent JRPG qui dispose de combats efficaces et techniques, d'un système de job ultra permissif, d'une patte artistique indéniable (visuelle et sonore) et de personnages attachants qui forment rapidement un vrai groupe. La seule chose qu'on peut vraiment lui reprocher, c'est de rester sur les acquis de son prédecesseur, à tel point qu'il n'arrive pas vraiment à nous surprendre. Quoi qu'il en soit, il reste un très bon titre à posséder.

Bravely Second: End Layer non è brutto, tutt'altro. Sconta però il suo essere un seguito diretto di Bravely Default. Scegliendo di riallacciare i fili della narrazione, lo sviluppatore è stato costretto a un'infinita serie di rimandi che affievoliscono il trasporto emotivo e l'identificazione con i personaggi. Fatte salve le sfumature descritte nel corpo della recensione, si rivive una seconda volta la stessa esperienza. I punti interrogativi sollevati dall'analisi di Bravely Default non hanno trovato piena risposta. Molti elementi sono stati rifiniti, i menu scorrono bene, ci sono tantissime possibilità di configurazione, tutto è pratico e comprensibile, ma l'equilibrio tra scontri casuali, indice della frequenza e istanze di esplorazione non convince. L'incedere è guidato, lineare alla massima potenza. La mappa del mondo è di per sé vuota, inutile. Tra un aspetto pretestuoso e l'altro, buono solo per portare avanti la vicenda, si trova conforto nel sistema di combattimento, ancora molto valido benché non più fresco e innovativo, e nell'eccellente sistema delle classi, anche se qui un filo esuberante. Nel complesso ci si diverte e si gioca con gusto. Non c'è quindi grandissima differenza qualitativa tra Bravely Second: End Layer e il suo predecessore. Quest'ultimo era giusto più ispirato e originale. Svanito l'effetto sorpresa, resta un gioco più che discreto, con tanti aspetti positivi ma anche una serie di problematiche da risolvere in un nuovo capitolo che sia veramente tale.

El problema de Bravely Second: End Layer es que no parece un juego nuevo, sino un capítulo adicional en la historia de Bravely Default. Repite escenarios, repite trabajos, repite mazmorras y personajes secundarios... Es una constante repetición de los elementos, situaciones y lugares de la primera parte y tienes todo el rato la sensación de estar rejugándolo. Square Enix ha pasado de innovar en cualquier sentido y no sólo ha creado una secuela, sino una secuela idéntica.
