So, Resident Evil 0 HD is finally upon us. Sure, the game has some downsides, as we noted above, but that doesn’t mean this is a game to skip. In fact, I would personally recommend it to anyone who enjoys survival horror or zombie games in general. It is a fantastic ride into nostalgia.

Resident Evil Zero HD bebe de las fuentes clásicas de la saga y lo expresa en forma de uno de los mejores survival horror de la historia, nuevamente. Pese a que incluye alternativas de control, quizás el manejo es lo que peor resiste el paso del tiempo y complica en cierta manera el deleite de esta pesadilla en forma de videojuego. Si no tuviste ocasión de disfrutarlo en su día y te gusta el género o la franquicia, no lo dudes y hazte con él, pues te has estado perdiendo todo un imprescindible. Para aquellos que sí lo hicieron, a la posibilidad de rescatar un clásico se une el nuevo modo Wesker que realmente engancha y sabe aportar un soplo de aire fresco nuevo en una fórmula que parecía demasiado encorsetada para albergar novedades.

La note s’applique tant bien au jeu qu’à la qualité de la remasterisation. Resident Evil 0 HD, c’est un classique à refaire les yeux fermés si vous n’avez pas pu y reposer la main depuis sa sortie. 2003, ça remonte pas mal mine de rien, et Capcom a fourni un super boulot une nouvelle fois. On regrettera cependant qu’il n’y ai pas de raccourcis pour passer notre partenaire d’attaque à retrait, ou que les temps de changement de personnages restent un peu long. Et puis, pourquoi ne pas avoir fait profiter des 60 FPS sur consoles aussi ? Mis à part ces petits défauts, nous sommes en droit d’applaudir Capcom sur la retouche graphique de cette remasterisation, et attendons maintenant vivement le remake du deuxième opus tant attendu. En attendant, n’hésitez pas à franchir le cap, vous pouvez céder à la touche 2016 de ce Resident Evil 0 sans soucis si vous vous sentez prêt !

Un peu plus de 13 ans après sa sortie initiale, Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster continue à faire largement le job. Pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas le titre, c'est l'occasion rêvée de découvrir un jeu culte vêtu de ses plus beaux atours, car cet affinage HD s'illustre par son élégance ! Pour les autres, vous serez heureux de retrouver Billy et Rebecca même si nous aurions souhaité plus de nouveautés et plus de folie notamment en ce qui concerne le mode Wesker. Quoi qu'il en soit, cela reste toujours un plaisir de jouer à un "vrai" Resident Evil ! Pas le meilleur certes, mais un épisode attachant et à part dans la saga.

Resident Evil 0 HD Remaster is a fantastic reworking of a solid entry into the mainline series. While there are still glaring issues with its narrative and repetitive progression formula, it’s not as if Capcom was aiming to completely remake the game from the ground up. The visuals have been cleaned up nicely, giving stronger atmosphere to the already tense set of events. Capcom has even gone as far as to create an additional mode that adds not only an aesthetic change for Billy and Rebecca, but establishes a couple of new abilities at the same time. The new control scheme works great in the remaster, as well, although it can get finicky with some of the unfortunate camera angles. With all the enhancements in visuals and gameplay elements, Capcom has not only set a precedent for how remasters should be done, but helped excel Resident Evil 0 into being a far more enjoyable horror experience.

fter all is said and done, it sounds like I’m being extremely rough on Resident Evil Zero but it’s still a pretty competent classic Resident Evil game. It’s got all the hallmarks of a good Resident Evil game – the foreboding and ominous atmosphere, the creepy yet maniacal villain and the sense of survival and item management. But it just goes a little bit too off the deep end and is thus taken less seriously than other games in the franchise. But make no mistakes, Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster is a strong remaster in every sense of the word. The visuals are beautiful, the environments are polished and everything is a visual feast whether it be the characters or the locales themselves. It’s just a fantastic looking game that can now appeal to newcomers and series veterans alike – and allowing more people to experience Resident Evil’s storied (and colourful) history is hardly a bad thing.

Resident Evil 0 HD Remaster est destiné aux fans de la saga passés à côté du titre il y a de cela 12 ans et autres adeptes désireux de profiter d’une refonte avant tout graphique. Les joueurs allergiques aux expressions “à l’ancienne”, “old school”, “d’antan”... s’abstiendront tandis que les puristes pourront se ruer sur cette madeleine de Proust zombifiée. D’un point de vue gameplay, ce remaster HD conserve toutes les forces et les faiblesses de la version d’origine avec en premier lieu un inventaire récalcitrant et un scénario abscons. Côté gameplay, seuls les contrôles ont été modifiés à l’occasion du passage en HD. Ces derniers goûtent désormais aux joies des déplacements libres pour un confort de jeu accru. Quant à la refonte graphique, les images parlent d’elles-mêmes avec un résultat affiché des plus probant. Resident Evil 0 HD Remaster s’apparente à une simple restauration d’une oeuvre vieillissante mais insuffle finalement un second souffle mérité à Resident Evil 0, le sortant de sa torpeur pour un baroud d’honneur.

Resident Evil 0 isn't a bad game. But compared to the original remake, it certainly is a step down. I can understand Capcom trying new things and increasing the tension, but it becomes tedious more than anything. Either way, it's still a good game and still worth playing if you have never played it before or want to replay it again after so many years.

Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster has the look and feel of a modern game, but its real problems started in 2002 and were never solved. It’s a forgettable entry in an outstanding series that just doesn’t measure up because of its story problems, overwhelming inventory management, and horrible predictability. Reanimating this limp corpse of a survival game in high definition only brings back the disappointment I felt when I played it the first time.
