Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town is a beautiful-looking, cosy, and laid-back casual game with enough adventure elements to keep you hooked for hours. The game evokes nostalgia, reminding you of childhood trips to your grandparents’ village, where you’d spend time exploring and soaking in the simplicity of village life. Despite its relaxed pace, the game has an extensive story, with a collection and exploration-based gameplay that is made for a specific audience who don’t mind a repeating gameplay loop. I believe it’s best enjoyed in short bursts, rather than playing through it all at once.
Semplice, divertente, capace di farci vivere - magari a piccoli pezzi - delle atmosfere veramente rare da trovare in un videogioco e così ben trasmesse. La nuova avventura di Shin Chan è un passo in avanti nella composizione di un titolo più rifinito, con tempi più corretti, ritmo e personaggi maggiormente dosati, addirittura un gioco nuovo che intrattiene e fornisce una finestra di crescita. C'è un però? Si, perché Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town è un buon seguito... e lì si ferma, non aggiunge nulla di più, risultando un'esperienza per certi versi meno fresca del suo predecessore e quindi meno capace di risaltare, seppur meglio realizzata. Questo, più che un punto a sfavore, è semplicemente un enorme dato di fatto che non sposterà di una virgola il gioco a chi (come noi) adora questo tipo di gameplay e atmosfere, ma ci sentiamo di doverlo sottolineare in quanto, a livello di struttura ludica, la nuova opera di Ayabe sta ferma lì, nel suo mondo arcadico e agreste, ferma nel tempo, la stessa stasi fantasiosa e colorata in cui è così bello trascorrere ogni tanto il nostro tempo in compagnia di un bimbo sognatore e casinaro.
I honestly think Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town greatly benefits from its new location, adding a unique charm that sets it apart from its predecessors with a charming story that’s personal and melancholic. It still has its issues with overly simplistic gameplay, which could use an extra bit of spice to keep it from dragging, but this game is a definitive and polished way of experiencing Shin chan’s adventures in video game format.

It's a delightful journey for younger gamers but falls a bit short in delivering the depth expected from the cozy genre.
