When EA showed off what Madden NFL 26 would be this year, I wasn’t sure I believed it. Not because I didn’t want to, or because I thought I was being lied to. But because it almost felt too good to be true. It promised improvements and changes I have wanted for years, and, well… they are all here. EA pulled it off. This is simply a straight up better game than Madden 25, both on the field and off of it. There’s still room for improvement – there always is – but it’s hard to overstate what a leap this feels like in terms of presentation, the in-game action, and Franchise as a mode. There’s more to do for Superstar, and MUT is MUT, but this is a big step forward for Madden overall. As for the other stuff, well… there’s always next year, right? Turns out, sometimes you just gotta believe.

Drag x Drive controls like nothing else I’ve ever played, and it asks a lot of you in order to get used to its complicated mouse and motion mechanics. Obviously, if you don't like (or literally can’t use) forced motion controls like this, then you should steer clear. But once I put in the time to "get good," I really enjoyed the surprisingly deep fundamentals of Nintendo's unique take on wheelchair basketball. Its online three-on-three matches are a lot of fun, and it has some good ideas for provoking friendly competition between rounds that I wish were fleshed out a little bit more. That lack of substance is the most disappointing part about Drag x Drive, with little in the way of unlockables, customization, personality, and variety. I imagine a hardcore group of fans could rally around it, because its movement is very cool and there is a ton of potential to discover in its exciting trick system – but with a high initial barrier to entry and not enough reasons to stick around for the long haul once you’ve cleared it, it’s hard to see Drag x Drive establishing itself among an already crowded field of online multiplayer options.

Drag x Drive propose des mécaniques d’une précision redoutable induisant une profondeur de gameplay qui fait plaisir. Si faire glisser les Joy-Con 2 peut physiquement être fatiguant à la longue, le tout répond au doigt et à l’œil dès lors qu’on maîtrise l’ensemble. Si la communauté répond présente, on a là un jeu dont le potentiel compétitif est indéniable. Cependant, on a l’impression que Nintendo n’y croyait pas trop, et que le contenu n’est pas à la hauteur du gameplay. On ne peut pas faire de tournoi contre les bots ou les autres joueurs, le contenu solo est composé de défis dont on fait vite le tour et la direction artistique peine un peu à attirer l’œil. Avec plus de modes, plus de personnalisation et la possibilité d’organiser des compétitions, Drag x Drive aurait été une merveilleuse surprise. C’est un peu chiche pour l’instant, mais un bon suivi pourrait faire du jeu un titre multi assez unique dans le paysage et particulièrement attractif.

El sistema de control y el propio concepto hacen que no puedas resistirte a probarlo... ¡Y lo cierto es que funciona muy bien! Eso sí, tenemos dudas sobre su "atractivo" en el largo a plazo: pide a gritos más entornos, torneos y un multijugador local.

Drag x Drive è un progetto confusionario, senza un reale pubblico di riferimento. L'esperimento degli sviluppatori di sfruttare la gimmick garantita dai nuovi Joy-Con, sfruttati in modalità mouse, può dirsi in buona parte fallita. In buona parte, fortunatamente, perché non siamo di fronte ad un titolo disastroso. Il sistema di controllo è sufficientemente preciso e con il gruppo di amici giusti ci si riesce a divertire per qualche partita. Il problema è che siamo di fronte a un gioco con pochissimi contenuti, senza un'infrastruttura online degna di questo nome, pretenziosa, in termini di precisione nel controllo della carrozzina, quel tanto che basta da scoraggiare chi sperava di trovare in Drag x Drive il nuovo Wii Sports. Si può vincere qualche partita anche con scarsa esperienza, ma per potersi sentire davvero padroni dell'azione serve un allenamento più intensivo di quanto ci si possa aspettare sulle prime, un apprendistato che, tra l'altro, non è sostenuto da nessuna modalità single player, né da sufficienti attrattive tali da incentivare costantemente il giocatore. L'idea alla base del gioco è interessante, ma purtroppo la resa è diretta immagine dell'art design della produzione stessa: sterile e poco accattivante. Un titolo che, anche a fronte del prezzo budget, va preso in considerazione solo se si vogliono sfruttare a tutti i costi i Joy-Con 2 in modalità mouse e si è dotati del giusto gruppo di amici affiatati. Solo non sperate di ritrovarvi anche quest'autunno online, carichi per lunghe e intensive sessioni a Drag x Drive: il divertimento scemerà in ogni caso piuttosto in fretta e molto prima.

Drag x Drive è un esperimento curioso, ma incompiuto, che unisce basket in carrozzina e modalità mouse dei Joy-Con 2, offrendo controlli precisi ma un gameplay povero di contenuti e varietà. L’online è il cuore dell’esperienza (i match contro i bot vi stancheranno prestissimo), ma la mancanza di progressione limita la longevità e trovare compagni al proprio livello è un terno al lotto. Estetica e design sottotono penalizzano infine un concept che, con più cura e ambizione, sarebbe potuto diventare una piccola gemma nel neonato catalogo di esclusive per Switch 2.

Drag X Drive pensa solo al gameplay e alla sua missione dimostrativa delle potenzialità dei Joy-Con in versione mouse, dimenticandosi di veicolare la sua indubbia profondità ludica con gli strumenti grafici e artistici che Nintendo solitamente padroneggia, e che sono quasi una firma distintiva. Non è un “gioco gimmick”: l'idea funziona, la tecnica è ben applicata ed è promettente ma avrebbe meritato una serie di accortezze e modalità più ragionate, nutrite e varie.
