Flintlock The Siege of Dawn epitomises the 7/10. It's the sort of thing you'll play once and enjoy. Inessential but still worth your time.

Flintlock: Siege of Dawn es un juego interesante ya que presenta un sistema que bebe de las fuentes del soulslike, pero que la diluye para acercarse a una versión con más exploración, verticalidad y plataformas. Tiene ideas llamativas y es visualmente atractivo, pero el combate no está tan pulido como me gustaría. Sencillamente, sin estar mal, no transmite la mejor respuesta a los mandos. Junto a la poca variedad de enemigos y patrones, se queda demasiado en tierra de nadie para ser el núcleo central del juego.

Put into the perspective of its multiple delays and overall unpolish, it’s clear that this is an easy skip to play better options out there. Or at least wait until it's heavily discounted…

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn è un titolo che ne include al suo interno almeno altri dieci, ma senza soffrire per questo motivo di crisi di identità. Compensa l'assenza di protagonista e narrazione pienamente originali con una solidissima impostazione souls-lite, condita da un ottimo equilibrio tra esplorazione di un mondo (semi)aperto e progressione ruolistica. I combattimenti, dinamici e appaganti, si alternano al consolidamento del proprio alter ego, del quale è possibile scegliere la "via" più rispondente al proprio stile di gioco. Forse tra quindici anni non ricorderemo con precisione il nome della protagonista o del semidio che la accompagna, ma certamente, rispolverando il catalogo digitale delle console di attuale generazione, riecheggeranno con un po' di nostalgia quelle venti ore intense in cui ci divertimmo a scaricare una baionetta contro degli scheletri dotati di poteri magici. A conti fatti, l'importante è questo.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is an enjoyable and highly accessible Soulslite. A44 created a great entry point for the genre, not to mention an exciting fantasy setting that mixes black powder, magic, and influences that go beyond the usual European medieval style. The combat is fun and won't cause you to break any controllers. The story is also worth following, although the game perhaps ends up too soon, leaving narrative and gameplay possibilities to be explored by a sequel.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn è un ottimo ritorno sulle scene per A44 Games, che si dimostra nuovamente un team capace nel periglioso genere dei soulslike. Le particolarità del titolo distribuito da Kepler Interactive sono tali da renderlo un consigliato entry level per coloro che vogliono avvicinarsi al genere, grazie anche ad alcune scelte strutturali che lo rendono meno dispersivo e più focalizzato. D'altro canto, lo scotto da pagare nasce da una implementazione a tratti confusionaria e ridondante di meccaniche, che finiscono con il diluire (o addirittura occultare) alcune leggerezze di game design, particolarmente palesi nel paragone con competitor così agguerriti e totalizzanti. Un "Souls-lite" piacevole che vi potrà intrattenere nella canicola estiva. Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition doesn't make a great first impression. It's a downgrade in many ways to NES Remix and there's not as much variety or effort put into the challenges, nor any graphical tweaks to speak of this time around. However, stick with it, get into the competitive mindset, and start collecting up all the pins, icons, and top-ranked times on offer, and you may find yourself fully entertained. It's a slight thing, purely speed-focused, but we expect that'll suit plenty of folk who want a competitive outlet to display their old-school skills. And hey, it also doubles as a handy history of some iconic Nintendo gaming moments and mechanics.

C’est au sein d’un bouquet de références cueillies dans le terreau des meilleurs Metroidvania que la fleur céleste de Squid Shock Studios attire notre attention. Certes, ses senteurs rappellent celles des créations de Team Cherry et de Moon Studios, mais elles n'atteignent ni leur puissance, ni leur finesse. Attention, sous sa corolle avenante se cachent des épines aiguisées qui irriteront à coup sûr les jeunes pousses. Classique mais bien fait, Bō : Path of the Teal Lotus perd quelques pétales à cause de choix discutables dans son design sans que cela n’effeuille notre plaisir.

On aime tout de suite Nobody Wants to Die pour son ambiance film noir cyberpunk maîtrisée et juste sublime. On revient pour les choix fabuleux de mise en scène, l’univers animé et les décors gargantuesques dans lesquels on se perdrait des heures. Le jeu souffre néanmoins d’une poignée de défauts dans sa narration, ses zones d’ombres frustrantes et l’absence d’un journal dans lequel nous aurions pu garder le fil d’affaires alambiquées. Le walking sim reste agréable à parcourir dans son ensemble mais ses quelques mécaniques sont aussi regrettablement trop dirigistes.
