The F1 games by Codemaster have been quite a roller-coaster ride, from the highs of the early 2010s to the dismal 2014-2015 games and now we come towards the turning point of the series. F1 2020 is one of the best simcade racers on the market as usual. But with some of the kinks from the past games still haunt the current edition. Hopefully, they could fix it by the time the next-gen hits the ground.

It’s no masterpiece, but in it’s particularly niche genre of GIANT CRAB BATTLE GAMES it shines as an example of a water-cooler idea turned into a silly smash-up of epic proportions. Explaining its concept to your mates may return a cocked head and a concerned expression – but get them at the helm of one of the crabs and they are extremely likely to have a good time. While Fight Crab may not earn a spot at EVO or garner its own esport league (a crime, really), it definitely fits into that ideal spot of being a great time with friends, and will likely generate tons of amazing Twitch streams and YouTube highlight videos.

Destroy All Humans! is vooral grafisch een erg indrukwekkende remake. De effecten van de ontploffingen, de rondzwevende koeien en de burgers die je probeert te manipuleren; het ziet er allemaal erg scherp uit. De gameplay is voor het grootste gedeelte goed, zolang je niet achter het stuur van het ruimteschip kruipt. Verder zijn alle negatieve aspecten te wijten aan de oorspronkelijke release in 2005. Toen waren escortmissies en kortere levels nu eenmaal mainstream. Dat is uiteraard geen excuus, er waren opties genoeg om het spel in zijn waarde te laten en deze minpunten op te kuisen. We kunnen Destroy All Humans! aanbevelen, maar pas wanneer ze met hun schip in de budgetbak zijn geland.

Rock of Ages 3: Make and Break manages to provide some good, old school style arcade fun with it’s core game mechanics. Rolling the balls down the nicely designed tracks, smashing buildings and people along the way is great fun. It’s let down by some fiddly, tedious tower defence-style missions, and a creative suite that, while deep in options, only seems to serve as a gateway to online play.
