Destiny 2: Shadowkeep represents Bungie’s first step back into the brave new world of self-publishing since the Marathon and Myth era of the late 90s. And it is an amazing step forward! New gameplay mechanics offer deeper customization for players to fine-tune their Guardians into their ultimate version of a monster hunting machine. Couple the quality of life improvements with its pedigree for some of the tightest gunplay in modern shooters and this is possibly the best version of Destiny yet. The return to the Moon is a step that, while it borrows heavily from the past, creates a sense of revisiting something familiar, but evolving. The story is a bit short and creates more loose ends than it ties up for the overarching narrative, it has some incredibly satisfying moments which are pitch perfect for this expansion, paying off years of waiting. The tone set out of the gate encapsulates the full scope of what Destiny’s story has to deliver: a story of Light versus Darkness, the lure of power ill-gained versus that earned through discipline and devotion, the hopelessness in deep places pieced with even the smallest simmer of hope. We look forward to seeing how they continue to flesh out Destiny as it matures beyond the Season of the Undying. Out of the gate, Destiny 2: Shadowkeep builds on Bungie’s legendary marriage of storytelling and gameplay, improving upon the foundations of the past while looking ahead to its future(s).

Call of Cthulhu è un avventura investigativa in prima persona basata sull'opera di Howard Phillips Lovecraft e sui suoi cicli dell'orrore cosmico: un acquisto imprescindibile per gli amanti sia della sua opera specifica, che più in generale delle tematiche angoscianti, surreali e oniriche. Parole difficili a parte, la conversione per Nintendo Switch dell'opera di Cyanide si mantiene quasi sempre buoni livelli, senza eccellere ma anche senza manifestare vistose problematiche. Il gioco aveva i suoi limiti già su PC e sulle altre console, e chiaramente la console ibrida Nintendo li eredita e vi aggiunge il suo hardware specifico, a generare ulteriori compromessi. Nessuno di loro però arreca danno alla narrazione, al gameplay e in generale alla fruizione del titolo. Se non avete ancora acquistato Call of Cthulhu, dunque, Nintendo Switch potrebbe rappresentare una valida scelta.

L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files arriva su PlayStation VR come se fosse nato per questo. Interrogatori straordinari, sparatorie ed altri extra non fanno che aumentare il valore di questo progetto. Non posso che consigliarne l'acquisto a tutti gli appassionati dell'opera e del genere, sperando che Rockstar introduca altre IP alla magia della realtà virtuale.

El cambio de género, de"sandbox" a RPG hace que se pierda la esencia de Wildlands, pero eso no es necesariamente malo. Breakpoint es un juego de acción militar gigantesco, que da lo mejor de sí en el modo online cooperativo, y que está cargado de grandes momentos, especialmente al combatir contra los Wolves.

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is an excellent 2D platformer full of surprises and delights for fans nostalgic for the glory days of the genre. With some clever approaches to the final boss fight, the overworld map, and refreshing levels for repeat playthroughs, this one sits in the top tier of platformers just below the likes of modern classics like Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.

Bingo ! Après un premier essai en demi-teinte sous forme de lettre d'amour nostalgique à Banjo-Kazooie, le studio Playtonic signe ici une suite bien plus maîtrisée. Car en plus d'être un bon hommage à la série des Donkey Kong Country, Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair parvient aussi à battre de ses propres ailes pour nous offrir un très bon jeu de plateforme. Articulé autour de plusieurs bonnes idées, comme une progression ouverte où tout débute par la fin et une world map pensée comme un niveau à part entière, l'aventure se montre à la fois familière et rafraîchissante pour les habitués du genre.

GRID in versione 2019 non è un titolo semplice da valutare. In un mercato coccolato da anni di produzioni mastodontiche, il reboot della storica serie Codemasters rischia di passare inosservato al grande pubblico. Sarebbe un peccato. Piuttosto che concentrarsi sul contorno, GRID punta tutto sulla gara, sull’evento, su quelle sensazioni di guida intelligentemente arcade che rendono ogni competizione unica, diversa dall’altra. D’altro canto, il gran lavoro infuso nello sviluppo dell’intelligenza artificiale pone il racing inglese su un gradino diverso rispetto all’offerta attuale, segnando un piccolo step evolutivo che, in futuro, non potrà essere ignorato.
