Despite an occasionally frustrating early game, Cookie Cutter is a thoughtful, creative, and (mostly) approachable metroidvania that embodies all the things you'd expect from the genre with its own distinctive style. If this type of game isn't usually your thing, then its fairly standard structure probably won't do much to win you over, especially when its map can sometimes feel a little less open than it first appears. But as a fast, frantic action game to keep you busy, you could do a lot worse than spending a little quality time with Cherry and her gruesome friends.

MaxMedia manages to create an enjoyable experience near the end of Hand in Hand, but its simplicity and gameplay contradictions in split-screen co-op make it hard to recommend it confidently.

House Flipper 2 takes the tedium of everyday chores and successfully turns it into a fun and deeply satisfying experience, with enough variety and modes to make it the ideal game for when you just need to kick back and relax.

Asgard’s Wrath 2 is the full-fledged VR open-world RPG I’ve always wanted to play, and for that matter it’s one of the best RPGs in any perspective I’ve played in years. With four unique characters and stories, fantastic and satisfying combat, intricate and rewarding RPG systems, a great story, and an entire roguelite dungeon-crawling mode thrown in just to show off, this masterpiece completely nails almost everything it tries – much of which has never been pulled off in VR. The Meta Quest 3’s killer app has arrived, and even after more than 90 hours throwing squids at gloriously shredded lizards and whipping across gaps, I’m still eager to jump back in.

Whilst feeling more like an upgrade than a true sequel, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is nonetheless a deep, engaging fighter that is widely accessible for all skill levels.

Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising is a perfect way to expand on the things that already made the original game great. The introduction of rollback netcode nearly guarantees smooth matches regardless of the connection and the game's free-to-play focus also allows players to easily pick up and play the game. While it doesn't do anything beyond those improvements, they are welcomed nonetheless. The game is almost guaranteed to keep a very healthy playerbase in the long run and the game's wide variety of modes available for both the free and paid versions of the game offer a great deal of content that players are sure to enjoy.

Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is a small step forward from the original, but all those tiny tweaks make it feel that much better. Online matches feel seamless, the new and changed characters have a lot of variety, and the story is a fun if incomprehensible ride. However, it takes a bit too much of the first game out including offline unlockables or even getting kicked back to the main menu in single player if you lose your connection. Still, its strengths outweigh its weaknesses by a wide margin and is an absolute blast to play.

GranBlue Fantasy Versus Rising è un’espansione... non proprio trattata come tale. Le sue modifiche al sistema di gioco sono sostanziali e riescono ad alterare notevolmente il ritmo di gioco e il modo in cui le battaglie vengono combattute, aprendo a combo più lunghe, aumentando il numero di tecniche attive dedicate alle fasi di attacco e difesa – il tutto prendendo anche una posizione netta a favore degli input semplificati, ormai diventati lo standard. Il quarto capitolo della modalità storia è coinvolgente ma non particolarmente lungo: purtroppo i giocatori appassionati di modalità offline non troveranno molto più di quanto già visto nel gioco base e nei successivi DLC. Detto questo, i personaggi nuovi, in larga parte, funzionano e hanno carattere e, se siete tipi da lotte online, il netcode rimesso a nuovo saprà sicuramente rendervi felici.

Più armi, un cane come alleato, strumenti contundenti, splatter a volontà, co-op, una maggior varietà di ambientazioni, 6-7 ore di longevità media, comparto grafico solido. Arizona Sunshine II è un sequel migliore in tutto rispetto al pur valido predecessore del 2016 e, pur non essendo perfetto (qualche problema nei controlli, livelli molto lineari, varietà di nemici solo discreta, scalate evitabili), è senza dubbio il miglior sparatutto zombesco in VR oggi in circolazione.

Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising è la versione aggiornata, migliorata e con nuovi contenuti del precedente Granblue Fantasy Versus uscito nel lontano 2020. Sviluppato ancora una volta dall’eccelso team Arc System Works ed edito da Cygames, propone un gameplay immediato e semplice, ma allo stesso tempo molto profondo e ricco di contenuti. Lo studio, come di consueto, è riuscito a creare uno stile di combattimento unico per ogni combattente, che vanta un elevato numero di personaggi presenti nel roster: ben 28 combattenti. Il sistema di combo Gatling Combo può far storcere il naso a chi è abituato ad altri titoli picchiaduro, dove la diversa combinazione di tasti può far creare delle combo più potenti. Il titolo presenta diverse modalità single-player in cui il giocatore può cimentarsi, ma che purtroppo non riescono a spiccare a causa della ripetitività rispetto alla controparte multigiocatore. In quest’ultima potrete cimentarvi in diverse modalità più appaganti se avete uno spirito competitivo, ma allo stesso tempo, per i più casual, avete a disposizione una modalità Grand Bruise Legends! in cui potervi rilassare, molto simile a quanto visto in Fall Guys. Tecnicamente il titolo è eccelso, con una grafica in stile anime alla quale Arc System Works ci ha ormai abituato. Tirando le somme, Granblue Fantasy Versus:Rising è un ottimo titolo picchiaduro che tenta di guardare ai neofiti del genere, ma allo stesso tempo strizza l’occhio ai giocatori occidentali che sono abituati ad un altro genere di picchiaduro.

Al netto di performance non esattamente cristalline e di una generale mancanza di nuove idee, che finisce con l'allinearlo alla concorrenza invece di distinguerlo da essa, non c'è nulla che non vada in Dragon Quest Monsters: Il principe oscuro, che si rivela un prodotto piacevole e capace di creare dipendenza nei più appassionati al genere dei monster catching RPG. Da parte nostra avremmo gradito un livello di difficoltà più marcato, ma la scelta del team di sviluppo è comprensibile, nell'ottica di puntare anche alle fasce di pubblico più giovani e meno smaliziate, che sono in fondo quelle che hanno decretato la fortuna del franchise Pokémon. Ne emerge una proposta ludica vicina agli amanti dei giochi di ruolo incentrati sul collezionare, allevare e fondere mostri, più che su storia ed esplorazione a mondo aperto. Speriamo, comunque, che il team di sviluppo sistemi i singhiozzi del frame rate quanto prima.
