Diablo 4's always-online requirement is a shame, and a few of the classes are somewhat slow to kick into high gear, but we're only able to muster minor complaints for what is easily a game-of-the-year frontrunner, and Blizzard’s best game since Diablo 3.

Not the high-end remake that some fans would have been hoping for but even as a, at times, too faithful remaster this is a fascinating second look at one of gaming’s great unsung heroes.

There’s no hesitation in saying that Fuga: Melodies of Steel has some of the best tactical turn-based combat ever created. Both the first and second titles create a stream of combat based on skill and strategy that keeps the player from feeling both weak or overpowered at any time. Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 manages to feel much the same while adding new abilities and changes that help combat and challenge flow without any problem. It’s perfectly balanced throughout the entire journey and simply requires a lot of dedication to move forward through each fight no matter the outcome. While there are multiple endings that depend on various decisions made throughout the story, there are also helpful options for those who might not get what’s considered the best one the first time around, and new game plus for those who want to challenge themselves to unlock every little last nugget of information that can be uncovered. Fuga is short enough that it feels easy to replay at any time, but long enough to keep thoroughly invested throughout. We cannot recommend Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 enough to those who played the first title and hope those who haven’t consider giving the series a much-deserved once over as it’s one of the most satisfying turn-based challenges to date.

No tiene detrás un estudio multitudinario, ni un presupuesto contundente, y mucho menos un taladrante marketing como el de aquellos juegos de corte bélico que en los últimos años nos invaden de forma gradual en navidades. Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 se desmarca de estos productos consumidos por la pirotecnia y el consumo fácil para ofrecer algo más que tiroteos simplistas y polémica gratuita. Desde Cyber Connect 2 pretenden hacer reflexionar al jugador sobre muchos aspectos, golpeando directamente a la moralidad de cada persona. No sólo trata de meternos en el pellejo de los distintos integrantes que componen la obra, sino que también nos pone en la tesitura de dudar si en nuestro día a día estamos haciendo lo correcto. Cuando tomamos la decisión que pensamos que es la más correcta, avanzamos con nuestra idea cegados hasta el final, sin escuchar los consejos de los que nos rodean. Y quizás, esto signifique que nos demos cuenta del error cuando sea demasiado tarde. Así es Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2.

Outlast 2 est un jeu d'horreur en vue subjective vous plaçant dans la peau d'un journaliste. Equipé pour seule arme d'une caméra avec vision nocturne, il faudra vous faufiler entre des hordes de villageois possédés et sanguinaires. Le jeu propose une alternance de scènes d'infiltration et de fuite effrénées. Il faudra sprinter et se cacher, ce qui procure de véritables sensations fortes, une pression constante et une peur incontrôlable. La VF est de qualité, tout comme le reste de la partie sonore et l'ambiance d'une manière générale, très travaillée, rappelant à notre bon souvenir de nombreuses références de l'horreur. Malgré tout, le jeu propose tout de même une certaine linéarité et un aspect "die & retry" des plus agaçants. Malgré ces petits défauts, les amateurs de jeu d'horreur seront servis.

CONVERGENCE: A League of Legends Story è un ottimo platformer con una storia leggera e intrigante, un combattimento stratificato e delle meccaniche di esplorazione soddisfacenti. Il difetto più evidente è la poca varietà nei nemici ma per il resto il titolo si difende davvero bene soprattutto grazie alla possibilità di riavvolgere il tempo che toglie quintali di frustrazione sia al platforming che alle battaglie con i boss più difficili. Riot Forge ormai ha perfezionato una ricetta che funziona: prendere uno o più campioni di LoL ed esplorare la loro storia con un'avventura per giocatore singolo che non inventa niente di nuovo dal punto di vista del game design ma adatta ciò che è stato fatto bene in passato alla ricchissima storia di Runeterra. I fan di League of Legends troveranno decine di citazioni da cogliere e quelli di Arcane potranno incontrare di nuovo quei personaggi e quelle ambientazioni iconiche che li hanno fatti innamorare della serie. L'ultimo pezzo del puzzle del successo di questo gioco, poi, è che anche chi è completamente digiuno del mondo di LoL si troverà davanti un'esperienza solida dal punto di vista del gameplay ed efficace da quello narrativo e che non richiede prerequisiti in termini di storia.

Endlich kehrt Star Trek wieder zu seiner klassischen Formel zurück. Ich war regelrecht verblüfft, wie gut Story und Inszenierung die typische Tiefenentspannung der TV-Serienvorbilder transportieren. Ein wichtiger Faktor dafür sind die sympathischen neuen Charaktere und bekannte Gesichter wie Botschafter Spock. Wir sind tatsächlich an einem Punkt angelangt, an dem mich Videospiele im Star-Trek-Universum (und bei Star Wars) erzählerisch überzeugender in ihre Welt befördern als aktuelle Filme und Serien. Welch wichtige Rolle dabei persönliche Einschätzungen spielen, beweisen die ehemaligen Telltale-Entwickler auch beim Nachfolgestudio Dramatic Labs. Rund um den ungewöhnlichen Konflikt halten zahlreiche Entscheidungen meine Neugier geschickt aufrecht, auch wenn die Verzweigungen weit weniger modern umgesetzt sind aus als im genialen Detroit: Become Human. Die Traditionstreue bringt aber auch spielerische Altlasten mit sich, die mich schon in Adventures wie dem faden Batman: The Telltale Series regelmäßig störten. Minispiele, Tricorder-Suchaufgaben oder die hakelige Schleich-Action wirken meist aufgesetzt. Ein paar eingestreute Kopfnüsse wie in klassischen Adventures wären mir deutlich lieber gewesen. Der größte Schwachpunkt ist aber die technische Umsetzung mit unscharfen Texturen, zuckenden Figuren oder sogar verschluckten Dialogzeilen. Sei’s drum. Wenn mich die filmreife Inszenierung derart gut unterhält, können mir auch die vielen kleinen Macken den Spaß nicht wirklich verderben. Wer Lust auf Science Fiction alter Schule hat, ist bei Star Trek: Resurgence an der richtigen Adresse!

Chronicles of 2 Heroes had me as soon as I realised how tight its jump mechanics are. It’s a big game changer when a studio nails the fundamentals from the outset, and it made the early going far more enjoyable. And this was before the better mechanics and abilities played their part in mixing things up and keeping the experience fresh. There’s a few elements that didn’t quite work along the way, true, but I’m happy to recommend it as one of the hidden gems of the year so far, a title that confidently follows in the footsteps of its predecessors and delivers on the promise it holds.
