Senza troppi giri di parole, Redfall avrebbe necessitato di un ciclo di sviluppo più esteso, e di un pizzico di coraggio nella realizzazione della struttura. È un prodotto imperfetto, ma che sa divertire quando ci si trova a intombare vampiri in compagnia di amici, vista anche la presenza di protagonisti dotati di abilità uniche e di un arsenale fornito di strumenti di morte di varia natura. Per queste ragioni, gli abbonati Game Pass in cerca di qualche ora di svago in co-op potrebbero dargli una possibilità, ma tenendo a mente una cosa: non ci troviamo affatto dinanzi al prossimo passo evolutivo delle produzioni a marchio Arkane.

Redfall is Arkane's most underwhelming game to date. A fascinating setting and some remnants of the developer's beloved gameplay formula aren't enough to overcome the game's numerous issues, from stiff controls and disappointingly rote design choices to lackluster storytelling and technical deficiencies.

Entre l'infiltration ratée et des combats mornes, Redfall nous laisse un goût particulièrement amer. L'envie de looter de l'équipement épique, de découvrir les boss du jeu (finalement trop rares) et la coop sont autant de raisons qui empêchent la manette de nous tomber des mains. Mais à chaque affrontement - aussi insipide que ridicule à cause d'une IA aux fraises - et à chaque nouvel objectif peu engageant, on se demande ce qu'on fait encore là. Alors, on continue, pour voir si ce qui nous attend vaut le coup, pour se rendre compte que non. Vous cherchez un très bon FPS à faire en solo ? Redfall n'est certainement pas fait pour vous. Vous êtes fan de vampires et souhaitez vivre une expérience abordable à faire avec des amis grâce au Game Pass ? Le jeu d'Arkane Austin vous comblera un temps très court, au mieux.

Redfall isn't a bad game per se, but its lack of a clear vision or sense of direction prevents it from being anything more than just decent at best. It spreads itself too thin and overextends beyond Arkane's wheelhouse, falling back on systems and mechanics borrowed from around open world games and beyond that don't really gel with one another, and leaving Redfall a game confused. Enemy AI is largely pretty shocking, which stops the big multi-faction fights being as interesting or intense as they could be, and while gunplay and abilities do feel good, you're constantly re-gearing up for an endgame challenge that never comes, upgrading to new gear simply to tread water against the same threats as before at a slightly higher level. There's definitely a decent time to be had with Redfall (especially in co-op) in spite of some baffling design decisions, but given Arkane's track record, it's hard not to be deflated by what Redfall could have been compared to what it actually is.

Redfall est un gloubi-boulga d’influences qui échoue à exceller dans les nombreuses catégories qu’il vise. Loin d’être inintéressant, en particulier grâce à un level design de qualité et à des rouages qui s’imbriquent plutôt bien dans ses systèmes principaux, le titre d’Arkane Austin est décevant par rapport au pedigree du studio. Contrairement à Prey, le game design n'a rien de génial ni d’original, mais en contrepartie, le soft est sûrement le jeu le plus accessible imaginé par Harvey Smith. Cette aventure à vivre en coop, mettant en scène des vampires qui sont parvenus à cacher le soleil, est à tester entre amis grâce au Game Pass avant qu'elle se fasse éclipser par d’autres sorties. Le jeu d’action de Bethesda va diviser, mais pas régner.

Redfall sees Arkane experiment with melding genres, to mixed results. There's plenty of flashes of the style and narrative flair we've come to expect from this incredible studio as you explore the town and face off with its undead inhabitants. However, the mixing of FPS action and story beats with open world exploration and a relatively relaxed pace leads to a balancing act that may leave hardcore shooter aficionados and Arkane super fans alike wanting more. If you come at it looking for a chilled out bit of vampire hunting there's still plenty to enjoy here, but some irksome AI issues and a lack of clarity over what it really wants to be leave it feeling a little lost in a limbo of its own making.

Ultimately, Age of Wonders 4 is a very solid and positively addictive entry in the strategy genre. Not only it lives up well to the legacy of the franchise, but I'd say that the influence of Paradox's own design philosophy and resources has contributed to making Triumph's offering stronger. Fetching visuals, well-explained concepts, deep strategic gameplay, tons of room for personalization, and great replayability make this a game that is easy to recommend to those who love building their own magical empire. Just, please be sure to eat, properly hydrate, and sleep.

Redfall tente d'être beaucoup de choses : un monde ouvert façon puzzle, une sorte de looter-shooter où l'itemization ne suit pas, un jeu de tir à la première personne narratif qu'on ne comprend pas bien... Il ne réussit pas vraiment à convaincre, peu importe le genre qu'il essaye d'émuler. Et c'est sans compter de nombreuses limitations techniques. Le coop pourra le sauver pour certains, en ajoutant le plaisir de la convivialité, mais ça ne fonctionnera pas pour tous. Il y a dans la tiedeur du nouvel Arkane un manque de maitrise probable de trop de nouveaux éléments - on espère que le Game Pass et quelques patches l'aideront à trouver son public.

Redfall is a gold dust-rare miss for what has been a very consistent deliverer of quality video games. If you are able to look beyond the game’s several questionable design choices, Redfall can serve up just a small bite of mindless fun beneath the island’s black hole sun.

In definitiva, il nostro incontro con The Last Case of Benedict Fox ci ha trasmesso sensazioni contrastanti. Da un lato troviamo una trama interessante, impreziosita da qualche gustoso colpo di scena e incorniciata da un’ambientazione estremamente affascinante. Dall’altra parte della barricata troviamo però una realizzazione tecnica approssimativa e una generale mancanza di rifinitura nel gameplay, difetti che finiscono per compromettere la godibilità complessiva dell’opera. Il nuovo progetto di Plot Twist, fa parte del catalogo Game Pass già dal day one: per questo ci sentiamo comunque di consigliarlo, almeno in una certa misura, agli appassionati del genere abbonati al servizio. A tutti gli altri, invece, nonostante il titolo venga proposto a prezzo budget, suggeriamo di attendere eventuali patch che possano quanto meno risolverne i problemi più evidenti. Nella sua forma adeguatamente rifinita, The Last Case of Benedict Fox potrebbe infatti ambire a vette qualitative ben più elevate.

Redfall è il classico gioco che avrebbe avuto bisogno di alcuni mesi in più di sviluppo e che invece è arrivato sul mercato troppo presto. Non mi riferisco solo ai bug, ai glitch e alle prestazioni grafiche, ma anche a tutta una serie di elementi di gameplay che, oltre ad apparire in parte vecchi e superati, avrebbero necessitato di un lavoro di rifinitura ben più profondo (si pensi solo all’IA nemica). Per fortuna l’esplorazione, l’approccio libero agli obiettivi e la ricchezza del loot ci ricordano che dietro a tutto c’è Arkane, ma la loro implementazione è ben lontana da quanto visto e apprezzato in Dishonored, Deathloop e Prey e anche la modalità co-op online, seppur divertente, si porta dietro diversi limiti strutturali che lo rendono tutto tranne che indimenticabile.

Arkane ha acertado concibiendo Redfall como IP: los vampiros funcionan bien mecánicamente y le dan mucha personalidad a buena parte de las casas encantadas, cobertizos y otros lugares cotidianos que ahora son cotos de caza. Pero en cuanto empezamos a hablar del mundo abierto, del diseño de misiones o del acabado técnico, la cosa empieza a perder encanto a un ritmo vertiginoso. ¿Ha sido un desastre? Tampoco exageremos: si eres de esos que disfrutan examinando diarios y anotaciones para darle sentido a la historia y conectas con la ambientación, es probable que te atrape. Más bien, la sensación que da es que el mundo abierto por definición no casa del todo con la manera en la que el estudio está acostumbrado a trabajar.

Alla fine dell’avventura possiamo affermare che Teslagrad 2 è un ottimo titolo per passare un pomeriggio anche se secondo noi il suo costo non rispecchia propriamente il suo valore. Il titolo a sicuramente un grande potenziale sia artistico che per il gameplay anche se non raggiunge mai veramente il suo apice. Gli enigmi sono ben strutturati anche se semplici, i boss sono d’impatto anche se non propriamente iconici e la trama avrebbe potuto essere espressa in un modo leggermente più chiaro, magari utilizzando i collezionabili nascosti come approfondimento. Possiamo quindi affermare che Rain Games ha fatto un ottimo lavoro e confidiamo che il prosegua su questa strada.
