Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp fa quello che deve fare: mette nelle mani dei giocatori un sacco di missioni e tante ore da spendere alle prese con un gioco di strategia divertente, intelligente e che non è invecchiato. Questa riedizione aggiunge davvero poco agli originali, al di là di una veste grafica più moderna, il gioco online (con i classici limiti di Nintendo) e pochi interventi che non modificano davvero l’esperienza. D’altronde il tempo passato dall’uscita originale è talmente tanto, che anche chi se li era divorati vent’anni fa, probabilmente si è scordato tutte le mappe e oggi potrà goderseli quasi come fossero dei giochi nuovi. E quindi decine e decine di ore di strategia in salsa Nintendo.

Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly builds upon the original, bringing players new and easy-to-love characters, a ton of good vibes, and tidbits of lore for anyone interested. It’s a sweet return to the nighttime café that fans are sure to enjoy.

While I love Episode 2 to a similar level that I did the original, I am somewhat left just a little disappointed by its decision to not reinvent the wheel much at all. The experience is still a great one, don’t get me wrong, but the additional drink choices and the ability to give items to customers to get further story content just isn’t a enough evolution in the experience, especially seeing as the location and collection of regular patrons are basically the same bar for a few new characters. The vibes and aesthetic however are still as pleasing as they were before, and those keen for an indie game to relax and pair with a hot beverage, Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly serves as a welcome choice.

An exceptionally pretty slice of DLC that does nothing to address the faults of the main game but does manage to emphasise its many successes, especially the graphics.

Se volessimo per un momento ignorare il sistema di combattimento rigido come un mattone, gli innumerevoli problemi tecnici, la storia non proprio brillante e una limitata varietà di nemici e situazioni, sotto la coltre di critiche e difetti potremmo intravedere quello che a conti fatti è un esperimento riuscito. Point Blank Games, con la forza di una formica, ha saputo mettere in piedi un ricco open world ricco di opportunità e per un breve istante, prima che tutto finisse col cadere sotto al peso di una dimensione produttiva limitante, la grande visione dello studio berlinese si è concretizzata lì, sotto ai nostri occhi. Ma le intenzioni non bastano mai, purtroppo.

Stray Blade trova la sua dimensione ideale tra i soulslike per novizi. La curva di apprendimento delle soddisfacenti meccaniche di parry e schivata perfette non è molto ripida e in un modo o nell’altro, scappando se necessario, si arriva ai titoli di coda in una quindicina di ore o poco più. La lore dell’articolato mondo di Acrea è affascinante, la direzione artistica che la racconta panorama dopo panorama anche di più. Peccato che le animazioni di lotta non siano la base di un gameplay altrettanto fisico e coinvolgente, che dopo poche ore inizia a ripetersi in un loop molto poco attraente. Se siete in cerca di un’avventura action colorata e cartoonesca, che dei soulslike ha solo l’impostazione di base, però, non rimarrete delusi. Ma non aspettatevi altro.

With the current flood of action role-playing games inspired by the Souls series, Stray Blade wasn't setting out to light the world on fire, but the game did have the potential to be much better than it turned out to be. While the experience isn't entirely unplayable when everything clicks together, the clunky execution of most of its gameplay mechanics makes it difficult to recommend the game to anyone but those who live and breathe ARPGs and need to play each and every one of them.

Stray Blade è la storia di Farren, che da antropologo si dirige nelle terre perdute di Acrea e rimane intrappolato in quel continente dimenticato. Con l'aiuto di Boji un mezzo lupetto dall'aspetto coccoloso, dovrà sconfiggere i nemici che si trovano su Acrea e trovare il creatore di Boji, che pare possa liberare i due dalla maledizione del luogo. Sebbene visivamente il gioco sia ottimo, mostra il fianco nel sistema di combattimento che, con qualche accortezza in più, sarebbe potuto risultare più soddisfacente e ottimale.

Labyrinth of Zangetsu revisits the fundamentals of classical function crawling. Peer past the attractive ink-wash-styled visuals and you’ll find an experience that’s a faithful adaptation of board gaming with graph paper and pencil. Largely, this should satisfy purists looking for a timeless crawl where a deluge of crits are ready to punish the imprudent.

Disney Speedstorm viene a plantar cara a Mario Kart y Sonic Racing con un juego de carreras tremendamente adictivo, divertido de conducir y muy carismático.

Même si Mario Kart semble indétrônable dans son genre, la lutte fait rage pour tenter de suivre le chemin tracé par le maître étalon de Nintendo. Avec un joli casting, des circuits intéressants et un gameplay proche de la perfection, Disney Speedstorm est une belle réussite capable d'offrir une expérience de jeu complète malgré un business-model qui penche logiquement vers les loot boxes. On y revient avec plaisir, notamment grâce au roulement des événements saisonniers qui permettent d'apporter du contenu différent régulièrement.
