Infinite Space ha dalla sua una trama estremamente ricca e dei numeri che si fanno notare, ma giocando si ha spesso l'impressione che tutte le fasi interattive fungano da mero contorno a quella che è una sorta di cartone animato (poco) interattivo. L'aspetto "gestionale" del prodotto di Platinum Games è simpatico e ricco di possibili personalizzazioni, mentre i combattimenti deludono non poco, con gli elementi strategici che giocano un ruolo fondamentale nell'economia degli scontri ma non riescono a renderli più di tanto interessanti. Tutta la fase "adventure", poi, è caratterizzata da una macchinosità e da una serie di banali mancanze che non ci aspettavamo. Insomma, ci troviamo di fronte a un RPG in grado di regalare un'avventura suggestiva e duratura a tutti gli amanti del genere, ma che dal punto di vista ludico purtroppo non offre davvero nulla di speciale.

Nicht dass ich mir wünschte jemals im Knast zu landen – aber wenn’s schon sein muss, dann möchte ich ins virtuelle Fox River. In keinem anderen Gefängnis der Welt dürfte man derart frei und unbehelligt herumspazieren, nirgendwo sonst werden bewegungsfaule Maulwürfe als Wachen eingesetzt. Aber an die Logiklöcher von Prison Break sollte man ohnehin besser nicht allzu viele Gedanken verschwenden, sonst landet man unweigerlich beim jederzeit präsenten Diktigerät von Paxton, an dem keiner Anstoß zu nehmen scheint. Aber ich verlange ja auch keine mathematische Abhandlung, ich erwarte Spielspaß – und auch der hat sich hinter dicke Mauern verzogen, denn hier wartet ein belangloser »Hol mir dies und das!«-Auftrag nach dem anderen. Dafür, dass Paxton ein Top-Athlet ist, der jedem einzelnen Mitgefangenen den Kopf in den Bauchnabel stopfen kann, lässt er sich von allen anderen etwas arg oft als Wasserträger missbrauchen. Alles was man machen muss, ist nicht etwa schlecht oder frustrierend designt, sondern vielmehr so schrecklich tröpfelnd und belanglos, dass sich ein Vergleich auch mit dem ödesten Splinter Cell-Teil schon aus Anstandsgründen verbietet. Serienfans können zugreifen? Besser nicht, denn die dürften noch enttäuschter sein: Prison Break bietet keine spannenden neuen Einblicke in das Gefängnisleben, sondern etwa sechs Stunden uninteressanter Randstory der Serie, nach denen es keinen Wiederspielwert mehr gibt. Wenn schon irgendwas Knastiges, dann doch bitte mit Riddick oder dem Joker drin!

The Calling è un titolo che non soddisfa: le idee di partenza erano promettenti, e lo dimostrano le prime ore di gioco, ben congegniate e capaci di creare il senso di tensione nel giocatore. Ma tutto crolla come un castello di carte con il proseguire del gioco: il gameplay non decolla, non si evolve, rimanendo fossilizzato sulle stesse dinamiche iniziali, annoiando il giocatore più che spaventandolo. Il gioco poi soffre di un comparto tecnico appena sufficiente, e di un doppiaggio in italiano aberrante, che rovina quel briciolo di pathos negli animi dei giocatori. Qualche appassionato di horror giapponesi potrebbe intrattenersi con la trama del gioco, ma non aspettatevi nulla che vada oltre alle solite tematiche, che mettono in scena anime tormentate dall'odio e dall'astio, che riversano la loro ira sui poveri malcapitati di turno.

Espgaluda II is a surprise bit of fun that works much better than expected. It takes a big visual hit, which is disappointing. And as of right now, it will not play on pre-3GS or second-gen iPod Touches. But if you have a device that can handle it and want to experience the shooter sub-genre known as “bullet hell,” then get with the downloading.

There is no stealth in this game whatsoever, if you have ever played any other game of stealth where you can distract guards or even knock them out allowing you to continue on your way, you may be a bit disgruntled because it does not exist in this game. Any NPC that isn't an inmate, which can detect you can make you restart back from the checkpoint. Like I've said there is no way of distracting them so you just have to walk around them very slowly. Also at some points you may see security cameras which will be blocking your way, no matter, just simply knock the cameras to temporally disable them and off you go. I am pretty sure that if you did that in a real prison you would end up getting shot; repeatedly.. In the face... By someone called Gordon. So what is there to like? Well nothing really, if you really want to share the pain of this game you can always play the fighting mode in two player which will either leave you with no friends by the end of it or in a real fist fight of who can eject the disc the fastest from the games console. When its all said and done this is another reject TV game cash in that will be in the bargain bin quicker than you or me can escape from jail. If you really want some real entertainment from Prison Break I really suggest that you go and buy season one on DVD. Not only will this be more entertaining for you but it also may last longer than the game itself.

La grande famille des Harvest Moon a enfin trouvé le moyen de se renouveler avec Rune Factory Frontier. Même s'il ne s'adresse clairement pas à tous les joueurs, cet épisode Wii est tout à fait convaincant et séduira immanquablement les fans d'Harvest Moon et d'Animal Crossing. Doté d'une profondeur de jeu évidente, le titre vaut tout de même davantage pour son aspect gestion que pour sa dimension RPG et s'apprécie uniquement à la condition de prendre le temps de s'y investir totalement.

Paradiesische Unterhaltung? Nur bei frühreifen PSP-Zockern zwischen zehn und dreizehn, deren Fantasie von Polygon-Figuren angestachelt werden muss. Denn während diese kleine Zielgruppe durchaus Gefallen an den üppig bestücktenvirtuellen Schönheiten aus dem Dead or Alive-Universum finden dürfte, wird sich die übrige Spieler-Gemeinde vollkommen zu Recht von dieser mageren Umsetzung abwenden. Von den integrierten Minispielen ist nur das Pool-Hüpfen leidlich unterhaltsam, der Rest ist zum Abgewöhnen. Vor allem die Volleyball-Mechanik, die beim inoffiziellen Xbox-Bruder noch den Namen ausmachte (Xtreme Beach Volleyball) und selbst dort nur maximal befriedigende Werte herausschlagen konnte, ist nur noch ein Schatten ihrer selbst und vollkommen ebenso belanglos wie unzuverlässig. Der Fokus liegt mittlerweile eindeutig auf anderen „Bällen“. Und während das Sagen umwobene „Boob-Bouncing“ des DoA-Universums hier auch seine mitunter vollkommen unrealistischen, aber dennoch provokativ schwingenden Dienste verrichtet, ist der Rest der Technik ebenfalls ein gutes Stück von dem entfernt, was die PSP abliefern könnte und was die Xbox-Variante vor einigen Jahren in passable Bereiche retten konnte. Hier hat sich Tecmo wahrlich keinen Gefallen getan, denn der angestrebte Sex-Appeal liegt auch nur knapp über dem spielerischen Gehalt…

Tecmo ha pubblicato su PSP un prodotto inusuale, unendo le meccaniche di God Of War a quelle di Overlord o Pikmin. Il risultato purtroppo è un gioco riuscito solo a metà. Il combat system è infatti fin troppo povero e il controllo che si ha sull’orda di zombie è fin troppo limitato. Inoltre la poca cura riservata alla trama ed al level design non aiuta di certo a migliorare la situazione. Tuttavia è difficile stroncare di netto Undead Knights. Vuoi per il fascino insito negli zombie, vuoi per il divertimento che si prova nel mandare al creatore decine e decine di indifesi soldati, vuoi per un comparto tencico comunque discreto. O persino per una modalità multiplayer che funziona per qualche pomeriggio. Insomma, difficilmente questo titolo non divertirà chi è alla ricerca di un sanguinolento passatempo senza troppe pretese. Tuttavia non aspettatevi che questo divertimento sia duraturo o che il prodotto rimanga impresso nella memorie: Undead Knights nasce e muore in poco più di una decina di ore. Il nostro consiglio, insomma, è quello di acquistarlo solo se il concept alla sua vi intriga e solo se riuscite a trovarlo a un prezzo conveniente.

In definitiva, l’ultimo racing game dell’italianissima Milestone non riesce a fare molto meglio del suo predecessore. Forte di un aspetto simulativo decisamente preponderante (nonostante qualche sbavatura), Superstar V8 Next Challenge mette in piedi un comparto tecnico decisamente non al top, oltre ad una resa generale decisamente grossolana ed imperfetta, soprattutto in virtù di diverse lacune in aspetti importanti del gioco (come ad esempio il sistema della gestione dei danni o delle condizioni atmosferiche). Ennesima falsa partenza, quindi, per il team nostrano Milestone: Superstar V8 Next Challenge potrebbe essere una scelta da prendere in considerazione solo se si è in assoluta crisi di astinenza da racing game (e con titoli come Forza Motorsport 3 da mesi sugli scaffali dei negozi, sarà dura non sentirsi già profondamente appagati). Perfect lap quindi? Ci spiace, ma anche per stavolta la risposta è no.

Auf der PS3 drehe ich zwischendurch immer noch gerne eine kleine Runde mit GTI Club+, aber was Konami mit dem Wii-Ableger Supermini Festa verbrochen hat, lässt mich schon nach wenigen Metern voll in die Eisen gehen: Das Fahrgefühl ist einfach nur grottig, der Umfang immer noch bescheiden, das Geschwindigkeitsgefühl zu niedrig und die technische Umsetzung jenseits von Gut und Böse. Ohrenschützer sind außerdem bei der grausigen Klangkulisse angebracht. Selbst wenn man die überwiegend öden Minispiele außen vor lässt, hat dieser Arcade-Racer bis auf den netten, aber zu kleinen Fuhrpark absolut nichts zu bieten, was man nicht woanders sehr viel besser findet. Einzig die Möglichkeit zu Splitscreen- und Online-Events rettet den Titel davor, endgültig in der Schrottpresse zu laden. Konami wäre besser damit gefahren, eine Umsetzung des PSN-Vorbilds aufzuliefern und diese dann über WiiWare anzubieten. Qualitativ ist der Download-Racer der PS3 dieser jämmerlichen Fortsetzung jedenfalls deutlich überlegen. Leider ist die Wii insgesamt nicht gerade mit vielen guten Rennspielen gesegnet. Doch bevor man mit Titeln wie diesem abgespeist wird, sollte man besser noch mal Mario Kart entstauben oder sich mit Sonic & Sega All-Star Racing und Need for Speed: Nitro vergnügen.
