Switchball è un ottimo puzzle game e chiunque dagli anni ’80 in poi abbia amato Marble Madness, Kula World o Super Monkey Ball non dovrebbe perdere l’occasione e acquistarlo. I livelli sono lunghi, appaganti e alcune soluzioni di gameplay stupiscono per la loro efficacia e freschezza. Alcune leggerezze però, in primis la telecamera decisamente poco reattiva, rovinano un titolo che, altrimenti, avrebbe potuto confrontarsi senza problemi con i grandi classici cui, più o meno velatamente, si ispira.

Metro 2033, pur uscendo in sordina rispetto ad altre produzioni, si rivela un ottimo titolo, tanto per gli amanti degli sparatutto in prima persona quanto per i cltori del survival horror. Grazie alla cura per il dettaglio di ciascun elemento ed alla varietà donata al gameplay da un misto di azione ed esplorazione, adrenalina, ansia e tranquillità, il titolo 4 A Games si iscrive di diritto nella lista d’eccellenza di questo 2010. Un surplus, per quel che riguarda la versione PC, è dato certamente dalla qualità tecnica sopra le righe che la produzione riesce ad esprimere.

As far as ports go, SupCom 2 on 360 is a middling success. Controls wise, it works well, which is great - at least as well as Halo Wars. But it falls down in some crucial areas.

The final question, then, is which version to get. This Virtual Console re-release wins the argument on price, as at just eight bucks to download it's an incredible value -- tracking down the GBA or DS editions would certainly cost you much more than that. But that may be the only key advantage this VC version holds, in the end. The remakes have been much more in-line with the story and gameplay experience that Square's artisans originally intended, and are certainly a better way to go for players, like me, who've just somehow managed to miss this adventure altogether over the past 20 years. So I'd recommend investing the extra time and cash to find one of those two portable packages, unless, unlike me, you're a gamer who first played this one in this original SNES form back in the '90s. Then the nostalgia you'll get from its many quirks, its goofy translation and its far-too-easy difficulty level will only serve to reinforce your love for Cecil's quest -- a love that I can understand and appreciate, even though this way my first time meeting the spoony bard.

The game's atmosphere and unique design choices will make it a worthwhile experience for some, but Metro 2033 suffers from a number of issues (poor implementation of stealth, recurring glitches, etc.). Fans of post-apocalyptic stories should consider giving this a shot, if they can tolerate the aforementioned setbacks.

Major League Baseball 2K10 isn’t a terrible outing for America’s favorite pastime, but it does lack any form of originality and rests too firmly on mechanics that we’ve played with before. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the game still has online multiplayer that’s easy enough to setup and performs well if you can find someone to play against. Still, at the end of the day MLB 2K10 is a ho-hum offering that not many people will be able to enjoy if they’ve played 2K Sports baseball in the last half-decade.

There's something to be said for dialing back a concept and letting simplicity shine. The sense of reward and increasing levels of temporal thinking needed to plow through Echoshift make it instantly more engaging than Echochrome. The game's sense of minimalist charm and gently sloping difficulty curve keep it familiar but improved in nearly every way over its spiritual predecessor. If you're looking to add a few more wrinkles to that grey matter of yours, Echoshift is a perfect way to do it. Just don't come crying to us when you start having dreams about finishing some of those later levels.
