Sony ripropone con successo la ricetta del buon umore. Bello da vedere e divertente da giocare, Midnight Carnival è una più che degna evoluzione del brand, che non stravolge, ma anzi perfeziona la già collaudata ed apprezzata formula di gioco, aumentando il livello di sfida e il senso di controllo sugli allegri personaggi. Stile e sonoro come al solito al top della categoria, un numero di livelli non elevatissimo, ma giustificato dalla buona qualità generale. Con un rapporto qualità/prezzo eccellente questo nuovo LocoRoco risulterà ampiamente soddisfacente per tutti gli appassionati del genere e, soprattutto, della serie. In questi pomeriggi uggiosi Midnight Carnival è una salvezza ridente e spensierata. Compratelo, giocatelo, amatelo. E poi rotolate qui a dirci quanto vi è piaciuto.

Indiana Jones fans will really get a charge out of this SNES production from Factor 5. I played the game to death when it came out in 1994, and I have enjoyed coming back to it as the new film casts a shadow over pop culture. Definitely check it out if you are a fan of classic platforming, as it provides a good challenge as well as being a great example of how to make a licensed game.

It's too bad the mini-games don't live up to the slick presentation in Encleverment Experiment. These exercises are either too easy to be engaging or they're just not fun (developers please note: math is not fun). While the single-player is a total bore, things do pick up in a multiplayer game. But these are pretty uninspired brain exercises.

Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles è il degno sequel di Umbrella Chronicles. Il brand Resident Evil vive una vita felice su console Wii, sebbene in una forma diversa da quella classica. I limiti che ancora caratterizzavano il suo predecessore, ovvero una generale staticità della progressione, ed un ritmo di gioco non così sostenuto, vengono superati, grazie ad una regia più dinamica. Un peccato che ancora tale regia sia da rifinire, dato che costringe l'utente ad un esercizio visivo spesso esoso e oneroso. Ed è un peccato anche che l'ottima struttura che fa da sfondo alle vicende, offra anche buone scappatoie per ridurre la difficoltà di gioco (già bassa), ad esempio potenziando armi per far fronte alle minacce più pressanti. Da un buon On-Rail avremmo preferito richieste più incisive in termini di colpo d'occhio e prontezza di riflessi. Darkside Chronicles offre comunque un eccellente impatto scenico e coreografico, per una decina di ore di gioco comunque divertenti, forse ottime per i fan più sfegatati. Certo, sia noi che questi ultimi, avremmo preferito vedere una Capcom capace di riappropriarsi delle meccaniche storiche del Brand, magari seguendo l'ottima scia proposta da Cursed Mountain. E se è vero che queste sono altre richieste, che esulano dall'analisi ludica del prodotto in questione, di fronte ad u n sunto così ben orchestrato delle vicende dei vecchi capitoli, un po' di malinconia resta.

Was für ein herrlicher, intensiver, actionreicher und nostalgischer Horror-Trip! Mit Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles werden so viele Erinnerungen wach, dass ich die Reise auf Schienen durch Raccoon City, Rockford Island, die Antarktis und den neuen Schauplatz einfach lieben muss! Dabei fesselt mich vor allem die Wackelkamera mit ihren hektischen Fahrten und lässt mich instinktiv zusammen mit den Akteuren in Deckung gehen, auch wenn es die Entwickler dabei manchmal übertreiben. Allerdings hat Capcom ein Problem – und das heißt Dead Space: Extraction: Der Neuling von EA macht nicht nur technisch einen leicht besseren Eindruck, sondern hat auch gezeigt, dass man mit kreativen Zusätzen noch mehr aus dem Railshooter-Konzept herausholen kann als das, was das etwas zu konservative Resident Evil zeigt. Trotzdem bekommt man hier einen der besten Vertreter des Genres, der vor allem grafisch eindrucksvoll zeigt, was man aus der Wii herausholen kann. Den Mutanten auf der Ishimura müssen sich die Zombies allerdings geschlagen geben…

If you're making a purchasing decision about a Mario Kart game and you have a Wii, you now have four different options -- Mario Kart Wii, the most recent release. Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, infamously 7.9'd and playable through the system's backwards-compatibility with GameCube discs. Mario Kart 64, also available through Virtual Console download, and, now the original Super Mario Kart. Each one of the four has its own appeal, and you'll find diehard supporters that claim each one of them is the best in the series. (Well, maybe not so many for Double Dash.) Where each of the N64, Cube and Wii installments of the series have focused on multiplayer, more characters and more crazy items, though, this SNES original keeps things simpler -- emphasizing, instead, the actual racing instead of the combat within each race. It's a different take on the same idea, which is interesting since it's the original take on that idea. So stick with the other Kart games if you want the multiplayer chaos, but come on back to this very first racing adventure with Mario and his crew. It's absolutely worth 800 of your Wii Points to re-experience, or to play for the very first time. And though it took a while for Super Mario Kart to finally arrive on VC, now that it's here we should be truly thankful. Year 4's getting started right for the Virtual Console.

So, like Valhalla Knights and Valhalla Knights 2 before it, this third installment in XSEED's on-going action/RPG series is a conflicted design. It has some elements that inspire interest, and could be especially appealing to players who value character customization -- the options for creating a custom hero here feel nearly endless. On the other hand, though, there are some extreme presentation faults that make such basic actions as being able to actually see what's happening on the screen an exercise in frustration -- so you could very well have your very own custom hero just the way you want him, and watch him die again and again because you couldn't tell that that slab of grey in front of him was a dead-end wall, since it looked exactly like the slab of grey that you'd just been running on as the ground. Some good, some bad. It all washes out to be somewhere around mediocre. (Just under mediocre, actually. The negatives outweigh the positives in the end, since no game should be so dark and drab that it forces you to have to crank your TV up to brightness level 99.)

Order of War è un titolo che riesce degnamente a ritagliarsi uno spazio ben specifico nel panorama degli RTS ovvero quello di strategico su larga scala ambientato nella seconda guerra mondiale. Un ottimo gameplay viene però appiattito da una scarsa varietà dell'azione e degli elementi di gioco, nonchè da qualche sbavatura nella parte tecnica. In definitiva consigliamo questo titolo a chiunque cerchi uno strategico specificamente ambientato in quei difficili anni che ripercorrono la fine del secondo conflitto o che abbia voglia di cimentarsi in un prodotto strategicamente molto allettante, senza badare troppo alla varietà che offre. Un buon titolo, che a causa di quanto detto, non riesce ad emergere dalla massa ma che comunque garantisce diverse ore di sano divertimento bellico.
