World War II games generally skew heavily toward telling hyper violent tales from a soldier’s perspective. Whether in the forests of the Ardennes during the Battle of the Bulge, or amongst the ruins of Stalingrad and the Eastern Front, the main concern is usually staying behind cover and getting as many headshots as you can. Not a lot of attention has been given to the experiences of ordinary citizens trying to cope with the horrors of occupation by living their lives as best they can, and this is what makes Gerda: A Flame in Winter stand out. It lacks much in the way of gameplay, but it does not lack for tension throughout. The story is a deeply personal one that relies on choices rather than gunfire, and should not be missed by any fan of narrative-driven dramas.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion walks a tightrope between a remake and remaster. Most elements of the PSP version remain unchanged, including the story, DMV system and mission progression. The voice acting was done with a new cast, many visuals have been completely rebuilt and the combat mechanics have been redone where it plays like a modern action RPG, which may be the single biggest improvement over the PSP original. The story remains the same so Zack’s tale is still the emotional gut punch it was fifteen years ago. This remaster improves on what needed to be updated such as graphics and gameplay mechanics, but realizes the story and pacing were fine how they were. Crisis Core is still a fifteen-year-old game originally designed for a handheld platform and as such the improvements to this version can’t erase all reminders of its origins. Even with game elements that show their age, however, this is the best way to experience Crisis Core.

Crisis Core - Final Fantasy VII - Reunion è una di quelle remastered per la quale sarebbe servito invece un remake. Il gioco originale di quindici anni fa sopperiva alle lacune nella trama, nel ritmo e in diverse meccaniche con una qualità grafica mozzafiato per la PSP e alcuni dettagli della storia che ne valevano il prezzo dell'UMD. Questa remastered ne conserva ogni pro e contro con la massima fedeltà, ma paga il conto di un upgrade grafico per nulla convincente e dei difetti che sono invecchiati abbastanza male. Rimane tuttavia innegabile il valore che riveste nella compilation di FFVII: il personaggio di Zack e le sue relazioni con altri protagonisti già noti ai fan di Cloud e co. sono di altissimo valore e meritano di essere vissuti se si vogliono apprezzare appieno tutti i risvolti della storia di Final Fantasy VII, a patto di chiudere entrambi gli occhi di fronte alla "trama principale" di Angeal e Genesis, una delle peggiori mai viste nell'intera serie targata doppia F. Se però avete già giocato al titolo originale su PSP e ricordate bene chi è Zack e cosa succede in Crisis Core allora sentitevi liberi di recuperarlo solo in caso lo abbiate amato già allora: troverete esattamente tutto come lo avete lasciato.

Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion is everything that we hoped this remake would be. It takes a great game once shackled to handheld-only hardware and brings it forth to a new generation with a fresh coat of paint. Though some may be put off by its mission-based gameplay structure or the sometimes ridiculous writing, its excellent combat, gorgeous presentation, and heartfelt narrative combine to make this one that no RPG fan will want to miss out on, especially those who were fans of Final Fantasy VII. Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion is a fantastic addition to the Switch’s ever-growing library of great RPGs, we’d advise you to give this one a go.

Though High on Life takes a bit of time to get the ball rolling and lacks some enemy variety, it's a comical adventure with an excellent opening and finale, and promises plenty of other surprises in store for players.

Charming and relaxing is not how you’d describe the average action role-player but this wholesome Dragon Quest spin-off is an enjoyably undemanding, family friendly adventure.

Smurfs Kart pensa prima di tutto ai giovanissimi fan dei Puffi: la sua grande accessibilità e l'atmosfera scanzonata ne fanno un gioco di kart accessibile e fedele al franchise da cui attinge. Dall'altro lato, però, il gioco risulta quasi pigro nella proposta dei contenuti: i personaggi sono davvero pochi e non sufficientemente differenziati, mancano le personalizzazioni e più tracciati avrebbero aiutato i fan a rimanere coinvolti nel lungo corso. Ora come ora, insomma, la sensazione è quella di un'operazione timida: è apprezzabile in alcune proposte come il design delle piste e l'art direction, ma sappiamo tutti che correre con il freno a mano tirato, come Smurfs Kart fa, non ti farà vincere la corsa.
