The Maw is a fine little romp for people who feel the platformer genre doesn't get enough respect these days. It's also a great game for parents searching for something to hand off to a young child. The Maw is fairly linear and there isn't a great amount of depth to it, but its two main characters are adorable and the pacing is spot on.

Dawn of War 2 è un titolo ottimo, con numerosi pregi ed aspetti innovativi soprattutto per quanto riguarda la modalità campagna. I difetti però non mancano, due di essi assolutamente non trascurabili: l'assenza totale delle campagne per Orki, Eldar e Tiranidi e la scarsa personalizzazione delle partite Skirmish. Questi due aspetti impediscono a questo titolo di raggiungere l'olimpo dell'eccellenza, sebbene le premesse fossero ben auspicanti. Nonostante questo, la caratterizzazione ineccepibile dell'universo di Warhammer 40.000 ed un gameplay fresco, frenetico ed estremamente tattico e ben organizzato, nonchè una realizzazione tecnica eccelsa, permettono di consigliare Dawn of War 2 a tutti gli appassionati di RTS e non.

Sans être un mauvais jeu, Ski Doo : Snowmobile Challenge propose un gameplay perfectible, entaché par une IA à la fois agressive et peu performante, ainsi qu'un léger manque de dynamisme. Le principal problème vient toutefois d'un contenu très pauvre dont on fait le tour en une poignée d'heures seulement. Le manque d'alternatives contraindra peut-être les fans à dépenser les 30 euros demandés, mais ils ne trouveront malheureusement là qu'un titre moyen.

Full of bugs, linear play that discourages exploration and non-existent combat, Tomb Raider Underworld feels as though it's part of the series in name and main character only. While the story is still good, there's practically nothing here that even feels like a Tomb Raider game -- especially with Anniversary still fresh for the PS2. Underworld feels like an extremely substandard title that was released without any polish whatsoever. If you're a fan of Lara Croft, get Underworld on a current-gen system and skip the PS2 version.

Mytran Wars è un titolo discreto, di stampo decisamente classico, che non aggiunge nulla di nuovo al genere dei TBS ma si rivela fin dalle prime missioni coinvolgente e impegnativo. Il giocatore si trova a dover ponderare bene ogni mossa e a curare nei minimi dettagli la gestione dei mech e il loro potenziamento, visto che la forza e il numero degli avversari crescono in modo esponenziale già dopo pochi stage. Purtroppo l'azione non viene supportata da una grafica spettacolare, da una parte per colpa dell'uso discutibile dei colori, dall'altro per le location tutt'altro che dettagliate e varie. Inoltre le regolazioni del gameplay non permettono di rendere rapide le partite: bisogna necessariamente attendere che l'avversario faccia le proprie mosse durante il suo turno, senza poter saltare la sequenza, e non si possono muovere nuove unità se prima non si è concluso lo spostamento di quelle a cui già abbiamo impartito degli ordini. Insomma, ci troviamo di fronte a un prodotto le cui meccaniche sono troppo legate a quello che è il passato degli strategici a turni: con una serie di modifiche si sarebbe potuto ottenere un prodotto decisamente più appetibile, mentre allo stato attuale l'acquisto è consigliato solo agli appassionati irriducibili del genere.

Partant d'une très bonne idée et profitant d'une première partie extraordinaire, L'Ombre de Lara cède aux sirènes de la facilité en s'écroulant complètement dans sa seconde moitié. La faute à quelques passages vraiment lourds et une construction se reposant sur un copier-coller du premier tronçon de l'aventure en agrémentant le tout de quelques pièges supplémentaires ou d'affrontements inutiles. Dommage même si cette extension porte en elle les germes de nombreuses possibilités inédites à même d'offrir à la saga une seconde jeunesse.

For a series that’s all about improving control, New Play Control: Mario Power Tennis takes an ironic turn for the worse. Here’s a game that’s visually pleasing, was an 8.5 on GameCube, and extremely fun, that’s now ruined by sloppy motion implementation. The original gameplay controls and charge/aiming mechanic have been taken out, and with less reliable shot placement and type the game moves into waggle territory, rather than being based entirely on intuitive motion or dependable button presses. Aiming shots is now less reliable, executing the right shot for the moment is now less reliable, and the final result is a game that simply isn’t as good as it was nearly four years ago. The control that did work has been removed for the New Play implementation, so while I’m sure Mario Power Tennis will make a killing on Wii, many of us have already played the superior game back in November of 2004. Newer doesn’t necessarily mean better.

In the end, calling this a "rebirth" or even a "reboot" just doesn’t cut it. If one looks hard enough, they can see the ambitions SNK had with this game, sadly outstripped by time and budget. This was likely a no-win situation for the company, and the release of so many high-profile fighting games over the past year did it no favors. As a release, this is botched beyond belief. As a fighting game, it’s just barely playable, provided users take large concessions. Normally I’d recommend that only the most diehard of King of Fighters fans pick this one up... but I have a feeling that said fanbase will be the ones disappointed the most.

In the end Eat Lead simply isn't a good enough game to make the most of the brilliant script and isn't the game to get Matt Hazard's career back on track.
