Tirando le somme, Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice è un titolo dotato di due anime ben distinte. La prima, quella hardcore, saprà saziare l’appassionato del genere, catturandolo e immergendolo in un contesto non sense di maestosa fattura (con un gameplay profondo e longevo come da tradizione). La seconda, quella meramente commerciale, è caratterizzata da un’assoluta svogliatezza che pervade l’intera opera, ovverosia la poca volontà nel tentare di attirare a se (magari con un comparto tecnico che mostrasse qualcosa in più, invece dei soliti sprite bidimensionali e scacchiere in 3D) le nuove leve dell’universo videoludico, che in questi giorni più che mai amano essere messi al centro dell’attenzione sul pianeta degli Hellgast o sui ring di Street Fighter. Che dire quindi? Scoprite voi stessi e scoprirete Disgaea 3.

While the Show on the PS2 is still an engaging and enjoyable game, it's definitely been overshadowed by the other versions on Sony's other systems. The visuals are getting a bit worn, and some of the changes feel like they weaken elements of the game, like those made to the fielding. While there is a lot more depth thanks to the Franchise mode, there are so few changes that this is almost a repeat of last year's game.

Grand Ages Rome macht zwar Spaß, schöpft aber das Potenzial nicht aus, da es zu wenig Neues bietet. Obwohl die Wirtschaft, Bauwesen und Versorgung vereinfacht sind, ist es anfänglich durchaus interessant, die Städte hochzuziehen. Marmorne Bauten wie Forum, Triumphbogen oder Siegessäule locken, die man sein Eigen nennen will. Schön verzahnt ist die Erforschung neuer Techniken, da man diese wirklich braucht. Wer hier vergisst, den Brandschutz zu erfinden, dessen Stadt steht wohl bald in hellen Flammen, da es praktisch ständig wo brennt. Gerade die militärischen Missionen haben es in sich, so dass der Aufstieg als Statthalter gar nicht so einfach ist wie gedacht. Der Feind drückt, Eisen ist oft knapp und eine stehende Armee braucht Versorgung, weshalb man nicht bedenkenlos Soldaten produzieren kann. Allerdings sind die taktischen Möglichkeiten stark eingeschränkt, da auf dem Feld der Ehre meist das größere Heer gewinnt. Zudem verlaufen die Missionen immer recht ähnlich und die Popularität hängt zu sehr von Brot, Spielen und Priestern ab. Wer sich darum sorgt, hat fast schon gewonnen. Leider wenig gemacht hat man aus der römischen Laufbahn, die kaum anders läuft als bei anderen Städtebauspielen. Man kann zwar Joker einkaufen, aber die braucht man zum Sieg ebenso wenig wie den Mentor. Trotzdem ist es der kontinuierliche Aufstieg, der einen noch bei der Stange hält. Die Politik im fernen Rom schafft dies hingegen nicht, da sie bei Grand Ages wie die historischen Ereignisse bloßes Beiwerk ist. Langsam aber sicher braucht das Genre neue Impulse.

Avalon Code offers a unique experience among action RPGs. Capturing people and objects in the Book of Prophecy and playing with their attributes is a compelling mechanic you won't find anywhere else. The interface isn't perfect, but it's definitely engaging. Avalon Code is also paced very well, and doles out new abilities to the player at regular intervals over its 20+ hours. Players looking for a cinematic DS experience will find it here. Now that the groundwork has been laid, let's hope for a sequel that refines the interface.

If you're not lucky enough to be one of the owners of one of those copies, you would have been looking at spending a hefty chunk of cash to buy a legitimate edition before this past Monday -- but now, with the game available for download from the Wii Shop for just eight bucks, it's an incredible deal. If you're at all a fan of strategy titles like Fire Emblem, Shining Force, Advance Wars or any modern game with the word "Tactics" in its title, you owe it to yourself to check out one of the rarest and most respected entries into the genre from the 16-bit generation. And, if we're lucky, this might only be the first Ogre Battle to see a VC re-release -- March of the Black Queen's sequel, Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber, is also an incredible game that could potentially appear in a future Wii-kly Update. So use your digital dollars to let Square Enix and Nintendo know there'd be an audience for that one too -- your reputation will go up if you do.

Der Name des Studios Deadline Games ist bei Watchmen leider Programm: Es wirkt so, als hätten die Entwickler das annehmbare Grundgerüst kurz vor dem Start des Kinofilms mit einfallslosen Levels und Klongegnern vollgestopft. Die hübsch glänzenden Kulissen sehen auf den ersten Blick stimmungsvoll aus, man trifft aber ständig auf die gleichen Fieslinge und Hintergründe. Außerdem wirkt das komplette Spieltempo reichlich träge. Schade, dass es keinerlei kooperative Angriffe der beiden Superhelden gibt. Auch ein paar zweckentfremdete Waffen aus der Umgebung hätten nicht geschadet. Stattdessen darf man z.B. Stangen und Flaschen nur dann benutzen, wenn man sie einem Gegner abgenommen hat. Als durchwachsener Prügelsnack für zwischendurch eignet sich Watchmen allemal, gegen Größen wie Kratos oder Klassiker wie Streets of Rage stinken die zwei Superhelden aber gewaltig ab.

Malgré ses nombreux combattants et ses donjons en 3D, cette suite de Ninja Destiny ne risque pas de créer la surprise sur DS. Affrontements bourrins, mode Histoire soporifique, réalisation douteuse, on oscille constamment entre consternation et ennui. A quand un bon titre Naruto sur la petite portable de Nintendo ?

Bob l'Eponge, Friture en Folie ne manquait pas d'atouts pour séduire les petits cuisiniers en herbe. Cependant, ses mini-jeux ultra-basiques sont tellement répétitifs que l'indigestion guette à chaque partie. Or, une simulation de cuisine qui donne mal à l'estomac, c'est pas bon signe...

Secret Service est un FPS lambda, sans âme ni signe particulier. Et s'il se révèle moins catastrophique que ses ancêtres, il ne peut pas pour autant prétendre à autre chose qu'au statut de FPS-navet. Plat, insipide et occasionnellement rigolo malgré lui, le jeu se laisse néanmoins parcourir, au même titre qu'un téléfilm de seconde zone ou un épisode de Walker Texas Ranger.

As there are so many fantastic fighting games emerging recently -- especially the incredible Street Fighter IV -- it's difficult for me to give a wholehearted recommendation to King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match. With that said, this game will probably please fans of the old-school stuff, especially considering the fact that Ultimate Match includes the original King of Fighters '98 on the disc, along with an extra disc with plenty of wallpapers and other goodies. And for only 20 bucks, it's definitely not a bad deal.
