Heb je ooit het Carcassonne bordspel als videogame willen spelen? Dorfromantik komt er verdacht veel in de buurt. Met zeshoekige tegels creëer je een rijk palet aan dorpen, bossen en akkervelden om heerlijk tot rust te komen. Voor de strateeg zit er een simpel doch effectief strategisch element in door de perfecte tegelplaatsing na te streven, terwijl de kunstenaar zich kan uitleven in creative mode. Een Switch-release was dan ook onvermijdelijk, want stilletjes puzzelen op de bank, in de trein of onder de dekens is exact waar deze minimalistische puzzelgame voor gemaakt is. Spijtig genoeg gaat dat wel ten koste van het broodnodige overzicht en de performance.

N'est pas NieR Automata qui le veut et c'est bien ce que nous rappelle Valkyrie Elysium. En s'inspirant de Platinum Games, le studio Soleil livre un gameplay solide qui propose une grande variété d'approches et d'enchaînements en combat, même si ces derniers sont parfois brouillons. Mais au-delà de ça, ce nouvel épisode de la saga Valkyrie souffre de niveaux basiques et répétitifs, d'une technique loin d'être irréprochable, ainsi que d'un scénario bien trop convenu pour rendre l'expérience incontournable. À vous de voir désormais si vous êtes capable de fermer les yeux sur ces défauts pour profiter d'un solide système de combat.

Valkyrie Elysium is a game of two halves. The level design and objectives feel at least two generations old and the characters and storyline are more like placeholders than the finished article. There's no capital F feelings here or much in the way of narrative justification, but if you're okay with that and you just want fifteen to twenty hours of fast, frantic, fluid combat then we can just about recommend this one.

Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival is a solid new entry in Bandai Namco’s rhythm game franchise, offering a roster of fresh music to enjoy, some creative new game modes, and more unlockables to have fun collecting. The game doesn’t offer as many multiplayer options as its predecessor did, but does feature more to keep solo players occupied. Rhythm Festival also offers what is arguably the biggest addition the franchise has ever seen, the Taiko Music Pass—a new music subscription service that can greatly expand the life of the game while also bringing with it some additional concerns over our subscription-laiden future.

Incredibly enjoyable locomotion abilities, pleasant collectibles to find, and fun (albeit simple) platforming puzzles are all that await those that are willing to look past Hell Pie's grotesque themes of animal abuse, drug use, and religious tones.

Hokko Life approda su Nintendo Switch in uno stato tecnico inaccettabile, tanto che ogni possibilità di provare simpatia per i piatti abitanti di Hokko e per le loro vicende sfuma a prescindere. Non aiutano la bassa qualità della scrittura e una struttura dell’esperienza che ci ha fatto sentire intrappolati a Hokko, e non padroni dell’avventura. Trascinati in un vortice di incarichi, raccolta di legna e spiacevoli sessioni di pesca, non siamo rimasti in alcun modo affascinati da un life sim che prometteva un’esperienza rilassante e creativa, ma che a conti fatti non riesce a competere con i più blasonati esponenti del genere, Animal Crossing e Stardew Valley su tutti.

Moonscars è un metroidvania soulslike molto ben caratterizzato sul piano stilistico, nel bene e nel male, e dotato di un gameplay solido e convincente, per quanto tutt'altro che originale. La mancanza di una sperimentazione che si spinga al di là degli aspetti artistici dell'esperienza un po' delude e sul piano delle meccaniche la campagna scorre senza acuti, a parte forse un impatto iniziale fin troppo ruvido. Se tuttavia apprezzate il genere, il titolo di Black Mermaid può senz'altro offrirvi alcune ore di piacevole intrattenimento, peraltro a un prezzo accessibile o addirittura senza alcun costo se siete abbonati a Xbox Game Pass.

Moonscars Black Mermaid si presenta nel mondo videoludico con un prodotto nero come l'ossidiana e rosso come il sangue che pulsa nelle vene. Moonscars è un soulslike in cui la direzione artistica ed il gameplay si fondono in una danza tetra ed affascinante, al tempo stesso spietata ed entusiasmante. Sulla produzione grava qualche peccato tipico degli esordi, ma qualsiasi fan del genere stia in guardia: si tratta di un appuntamento al chiaro di luna che non vorrete mancare.
