Iron Man est un jeu dont le gameplay décevant ne mérite pas les efforts déployés pour le prendre en main. Visuellement repoussant, il propose en outre des missions inintéressantes au coeur d'environnements austères. Le fan absolu des super-héros Marvel aura déjà du mal à faire abstraction de ces nombreux défauts les autres sont purement et simplement invités à s'en tenir au film.

Fans of shooters, anime, or just general Japanese weirdness should definitely spend some time in Castle of Shikigami III. It's a fine-tuned shmup that, while not revolutionary, has all the makings of a fun, challenging game. Sure, I wish the characters were more balanced, there are prettier shooters out there, and the $30 price tag may be just a bit steep. But, as a fan of the genre, I can tell you I've been playing this game for months and I'm not sick of it, yet.

Pokemon Puzzle League was well received when it first arrived on the Nintendo 64 nearly eight years ago, and the strength and intact addictiveness of the core Panel de Pon design makes it still feel fresh and fun today. The Pokemon animated series references are dated, but still work well as a way to give more color and character to the gameplay – and some unique features like 3D Mode make this specific edition of Puzzle League particularly compelling. The only reason puzzle fans might not want to spend 1000 Wii Points on a download of this game right away is if they want to save those same digital dollars for a different puzzle purchase from the Wii Shop, as another of Nintendo’s classic designs in the genre, Dr. Mario Online Rx, is scheduled to arrive in just a few more days. But even still, it’d be worthwhile to double up and invest in both, as having this classic version of Panel de Pon sitting next to the newest, most updated version of Dr. Mario on your Wii Channel Array will be like a puzzle players’ paradise.

Ja, Turok und Turok 2 waren super Spiele. Aber was dem glorreichen Namen danach angetan wurde, rechtfertigt wohl, dass die Serie einen komplett neuen Anfang nimmt. Und ich habe kein Problem damit, dass mein Held jetzt kein Indianer im Dinosaurierland mehr ist, sondern ein unrasierter Schema-F-Marine, der ohne größere Änderungen auch in jedem anderen Shooter mitwirken könnte. Ich habe allerdings ein Problem mit blöden Design-Entscheidungen, die ein gutes Spiel in die Mittelmäßigkeit zerren: Ein Indianer mag keinen Schmerz spüren, ich hingegen schon – und der äußert sich in diesem Fall in einem angesichts des schrecklich missratenen Checkpunkt-Systems rasant schrumpfenden Paracetamol-Vorrat. Die Verwundbarkeit während der nicht abbrechbaren Messer-Attacken zählt ebenso dazu wie die hibbelige Steuerung oder die übertriebene Unberechenbarkeit der Saurier, die ihren Teil dazu beitragen, dass der Schwierigkeitsgrad unnötig in die Höhe gekurbelt wird. Ich mag das Messer samt seiner mannigfaltigen Anwendungsmöglichkeiten, ich mag den Bogen, ich mag die vielfältigen Herangehensweisen an die Probleme. Aber ich mag es nicht, eine Stelle zehn Mal spielen zu müssen, weil die Designer der Meinung sind, dass das total viel Spaß macht. Turok, alte Hütte – tu rockst einfach nicht mehr!

Putting it all in perspective, WWII Aces is a real gem when put up against the rest of Destineer’s Wii trackrecord. It’s still a pretty crappy game, but there’s certainly a little more merit in this game compared to some of the other lower-budget third party Wii titles on the market. What’s been done in WWII Aces could be used as a foundation for a better arcade flight sim, but as a standalone experience this one’s a “pass.”
