Inventing a new sport is no easy task, but Rollerdrome finds consistently clever ways to marry extreme skating with explosive gunplay. The story can be ignored in favor of raw action if you want, but it’s intriguing enough that I was excited to find so much hidden underneath this beautiful surface when I went looking. Either way, developer Roll7 has found an inventive mishmash of genres that work so well together I can’t stop replaying levels to better my scores. Its rollerskating and third-person shooting may sound odd together, but just like its stellar soundtrack, Rollerdrome finds harmony in marrying the two to create something that truly shreds.

Al netto di alcuni fastidiosi bug, Way of the Hunter è una simulazione che sa certamente come appagare i patiti della caccia, regalando loro un viaggio nella natura selvaggia che consente di adottare approcci multipli per abbattere prede sfuggenti e dai comportamenti quasi sempre convincenti. Parliamo al contempo di un grande esercizio di pazienza, da impiegare sia quando le lunghe battute di caccia non portano ai risultati sperati, sia nel corso della modalità campagna che, vista la sua struttura ludica, non si è rivelata interessante come speravamo.

Rollerdrome est un très bon titre qui offre une expérience originale, maîtrisée et très prenante. L’alliance entre roller et shooter à la 3e personne fonctionne à merveille, c’est grisant à souhait et d’une constante fluidité. Et que dire de la direction artistique et de l’OST qui nous agrippent immédiatement. On regrettera seulement le manque d’ambition et de folie créative du soft qui avait encore plus à offrir, particulièrement dans le level design. Sans compter notre frustration personnelle quant au manque de narration. Pour autant, si on reste clairement sur notre faim, le titre de Roll7 est globalement rafraîchissant et réussi. Il serait vraiment dommage de passer à côté.

If there's an award for game feel, Rollerdrome wins it by a country mile. Roll7 has crafted a short but supremely sweet experience that feels incredible to engage with. No matter whether you're performing tricks or blasting enemies, its addictive loop will have you coming back for more. Complemented by a phenomenal, colourful art style and a real sense of speed, flow, and motion, Rollerdrome rivals the very best Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games.

Rollerdrome è la piacevole riprova che Roll7 sa il fatto suo quando si parla di sport su rotelle, poco importa che siano quelle di una tavola da skate o di un paio di pattini vintage anni '70. L’idea di combinare uno sparatutto in terza persona al pattinaggio acrobatico si è rivelata follemente intrigante e ben realizzata, e rispecchia in pieno la regola del “facile da imparare e difficile da padroneggiare” applicata a una campagna che sfortunatamente non ha molto da dire in termini di narrazione e longevità. Ovviamente non mancano le motivazioni per rigiocarla e magari anche puntare ai vertici delle classifiche online, in più il tasso di difficoltà verso l'alto della modalità Sete di sangue terrà a bada i giocatori in cerca di una sfida a tratti proibitiva, talvolta fin troppo, da aggiustare eventualmente smanettando con le impostazioni. Divertente e spettacolare controller alla mano, Rollerdrome dimostra di essere tanto solido tecnicamente quanto stiloso seppur senza riuscire a colmare il gap artistico (e non solo) dell’eccezionale OlliOlli World. Non la miglior performance videoludica di Roll7, e su questo ci metto la mano sul fuoco, ma una digressione comunque piacevole per chi non ha paura di imbrattare di sangue i propri pattini a rotelle in compagnia di Kara "Tonia Hawk" Hassan.

Rollerdrome è un prodotto dalle dimensioni ridotte e il prezzo contenuto non riesce a giustificare del tutto la rapidità con cui si può giungere ai titoli di coda. Pur essendo pensato per essere rigiocato più volte, il titolo di Roll7 non dispone dei presupposti utili a spronare l'utenza a spendere molto tempo nei livelli disponibili o grazie alla modalità endgame. Detto questo, parliamo di uno spendido passatempo dotato di un core gameplay molto efficace, capace di far impazzire anche chi non è solito avvicinarsi a esperienze di questo tipo.

Rollerdrome nos trae a la mejor Roll7 que tras su interesante OlliOlliWorld se marca un 1080 con un título muy fiel a lo que pretende ser. Su propuesta sencilla pero frenética, su trabajo sobresaliente a la hora de diseñar su jugabilidad y ese end game que es más bien una continuación de la campaña por todo lo alto se une a la oferta de sus opciones de accesibilidad para convertir Rollerdrome en algo muy especial dentro del catálogo actual del videojuego. Un título que respira arcade por los cuatro costados y que seguramente te volverá loco en más de un sentido si le das una oportunidad. Pero no todo son luces en esta propuesta. A la larga su oferta de juego llega a cansar, haciendo que el interés pierda fuelle y tengas que hacer pausas entre un rato de juego y otro. Otra cosa que echamos en falta es un modo online o un cooperativo/competitivo de sofá a pantalla partida que lo habría convertido en un indispensable, pero incluso sin este multijugador Rollerdrome sigue siendo un juego con méritos de sobra como para merecer un sitio en tu biblioteca de juegos. ¡Nos leemos!

Arcade Paradise takes you back in time to experience the thrilling life of owning a laundromat AND an arcade! In this simulation/management game, you’ll pass the time by doing some laundry here and there as well as playing your cabinets to promote the games. While the management side is light the variety of retro games you can actually play makes up for it. Gamers with an eye for old school videogames should give Arcade Paradise a try.

If it can get its technical issues under control quickly (and progress is already being made on that front), Rumbleverse’s fantastic wrestling-flavored gameplay has everything going for it to become the next big thing in the battle royale genre. Once I was in a match slammin’ bodies, slappin’ chests, and RKO’ing dudes from out of nowhere, it quickly became some of the most fun I’ve had playing video games in 2022. And it’s more than just spectacle – there are some extremely deep and well-thought-out mechanics ingrained in its combat design, opening up plenty of possibilities to outplay and out-think your opponent just like in a smartly designed fighting game. I’m hoping it fleshes out the shop with more worthwhile and over-the-top items, but if Rumbleverse is this good right out of the gate, I can’t wait to see where it goes over the next few years.
