C'è veramente poco da discutere sulla qualità del gameplay di Bomberman: i suoi quasi 40 anni di storia certificano il fatto che si basi su fondamenta solidissime e sempre perfettamente valide e divertenti. Possiamo però valutare gli elementi specifici di questa ennesima digressione della serie, più improntati su una rielaborazione estetica che non su un'evoluzione strutturale o contenutistica. Sebbene quest'ultima non sia una condizione necessaria per riportare in auge il gioco, Amazing Bomberman fa veramente poco per distinguersi dai vari altri capitoli della lunga serie e risulta anche essere meno godibile di altri a causa di problemi nel sistema di controllo, nella visualizzazione degli elementi su schermo e nelle modalità di gioco. Ha stile da vendere, su questo non c'è dubbio, ma forse per un titolo di questo tipo la cosa non rappresenta una caratteristica prioritaria.

C'è poco da dire: venendo meno una modalità multigiocatore di qualunque genere, Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal: World Duel Carnival perde immediatamente qualsiasi appeal, proponendosi come un semplice simulatore - per giunta obsoleto - di partite contro l'intelligenza artificiale che potrebbe tornare comodo a chi vuole avvicinarsi al trading card game e cerca una specie di tutorial interattivo. Tra l'assenza di contenuti rispetto alla versione giapponese e la presentazione scarna e superficiale delle uniche due modalità di gioco, è impossibile non restare delusi neppure se si è super fan del gioco di carte originale.

Last Days of Lazarus sets itself apart with lasting religious themes and compelling interior spaces. Unfortunately some tedious item-hunting and unappealing walks outside prevent this first-person adventure from rising above.

Cult of the Lamb è un gioco che colpisce nel segno in entrambe le sue anime: la componente gestionale è ben equilibrata e rappresenta il nucleo dell'intera esperienza, in un loop che coinvolge senza annoiare mai. Ad affiancarlo e trarne beneficio, così come a supportarlo, c'è la frenesia del rogulite che pur non essendo troppo complesso riesce a intrattene e offrire un discreto livello di sfida. Grazie a un ottimo comparto artistico, che usa l'ossimoro di un'estetica cartoonesca per mostrare la violenza di fondo, Cult of the Lamb si dimostra un gioco efficiente ed efficace in quello che fa, mai banale né noioso nel suo lento e costante loop.

Despite these misgivings though, I had a fairly enjoyable time with Terminator: Resistance. Sure, its mechanics, looks and technical aspects all feel as though the last 10 years of progression in gaming didn’t happen, but as a straight shooting FPS it does a passable job of entertaining. The campaign over stays it’s welcome, but along the way there are some quite likeable characters that make the journey more bearable. It would have been nice to have the death bringing army of machines feel more of a genuine threat rather than a pop up gallery; if the tension in that early scene could’ve been maintained we might have had something quite special on our hands here. As it is, we have a pretty bog standard shooter that feels a decade too late to the party.

L'avantage des FPS ratés, c'est qu'ils permettent de mieux comprendre le succès des FPS réussis. Terminator : Resistance accumule les surcouches de chairs trompeuses, entre jeu de rôle (dialogues, compétences), et survie (infiltration, crafting). Des illusions qui ne tiennent qu'une heure et demie sur les dix nécessaires pour platiner le jeu. Ce Terminator : Resistance oublie de se concentrer sur l'essentiel : un gameplay nerveux, un squelette robuste. Dans ce créneau hyper concurrentiel, bac à sable de toutes les innovations technologiques (coucou le ray tracing de Metro Exodus et de Battlefield V), il faut du cran pour sortir en même temps que Call of Duty : Modern Warfare. Le faire avec un gameplay et une réalisation cassés, sans multijoueur mais au même prix, ce n'est plus de l'infiltration. C'est du suicide.
