Grim Fandango is a great game let down by its age, it generally looks good but persistent bugs hinder the experience. For fans of adventure and puzzle games I would highly recommend it, as it has one of the most engrossing and enjoyable stories of recent memory, and even the simplest of puzzles offer great satisfaction upon completion. The world and story of Manny Calavera are the main reasons to play Grim Fandango, persisting through the bugs can sometimes be a frustrating experience but it will be worthwhile. Grim Fandango is truly a classic of its time and will remain a highlight of the adventure/puzzle genre for years to come. This new remastered version may do little to enhance the experience but it does offer gamers a chance to play a remarkable game, and that is surely worthwhile enough.

Deathtrap is a game that has all the functional workings of a tower defense game and depth of an RPG, which makes for a surprisingly good combination. For such a low price it’s hard to go wrong with a game like this, while most tower defense games tend to get boring after a few hours, Deathtrap keeps you wanting more and more action. There were very few aspects of the game that I did not like and those were easy enough to forget about because of how entertaining the rest of the game is. I would highly recommend Deathtrap to any fan of tower defense games as it is a fresh take on the genre.

Sumo Digital had the unenviable task of taking on one of Sony’s franchises, and pulled it off with gusto. A more technical advancement to go with the new hardware would’ve been nice, but the new additions are numerous and significant enough to ensure plenty of ambitious and exciting content from the Little Big Planet community.

With stunning graphics and some of the best football gameplay you'll experience, PES is certainly a must have for any football fan, but what stops it from being a truly immersive and realistic game is the set of dull and confusing menus and sub-menus and still no licensed English teams.

It feels stripped back, but not in a ‘finely tuned race car’ kind of way, but rather ‘old banger that’s had more than a few collisions’ way. It’s a significantly worse game than most of those that have preceded it, with some jaw-dropping omissions and rather dull additions. I had hope that once Yuke’s gave over the reigns we would see an new age for WWE videogames, but this isn’t the new start that I imagined. 2K15 is a serviceable game, and can be great fun at times (the ability to play with friends is what’s keeping the score from dipping below five), but it pales in comparison to the older WWE titles, making it almost pointless to upgrade.

There may be times when DeadCore will drive you to distraction - but no matter how often you fall, get blasted, electrocuted or lasered, you’ll find yourself coming back for ‘just one more try’. I’m now going to put a plaster over the teeth marks on my fist, turn the TV up to hide my profanities, and give it another attempt.

Fortunately, Pre-Sequel is largely more of the same with a few new extras. With the return of the True Vault Hunter Mode from previous games, the first thing you’ll want to do after sitting (or skipping) through the credits will be to do it all over again - the biggest sign I can give you that Pre-Sequel is more than just a cut-and-paste copy of past games.

For a group of friends who regularly play together in the same room, this would be an ideal addition to the rotation. It’s an ironically fitting tribute to the days of Goldeneye, and one that will have your group in stitches by the end of your first session. Of course, you’ll be at it tooth and nail by the second session, and by the third you’ll probably be sick of it. While the idea and execution are both excellent, the game just isn’t substantial enough to warrant extended play sessions.

At the end of the day, The Evil Within is a good Resident Evil game from 2005, but a below average third-person action adventure game in 2014. Silly design choices and just plain awful decisions manage to hold back what could be a fantastic experience.

While not being as much of a leap forward for the tower defense genre as the first game, Defense Grid 2 oozes quality and will provide both DG veterans and newcomers alike with hours and hours of enjoyment.

FIFA is a game about making you feel like a superstar. The game excels at creating moments that induce feelings of immense pleasure from periods of extended play. While the game is essentially the same old FIFA you know and love, it’s a testament to the formula that it never seems to get old. With every feature you can imagine still here and improved, and more added for this year’s iteration, you’re left with a solid football game that gives you all the tools to enjoy playing for another year.

Don’t let its strange premise fool you, Hatoful Boyfriend delivers a masterful satire on the dating sim genre and a thoroughly enjoyable experience all the way through. Underneath its absurd setting, Hatoful boasts a well thought out world, enjoyable characters and clever writing that give the game its quirky feel. Plus, birds in maid outfits.
