The core elements of the game are all very good: story, visuals and gameplay are top notch, but they don’t combine particularly well. The lofty ideas of player independence are held back by the need to tell a convincing story and the narrative can conversely be held back by the degree of player agency that does exist. The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is an enjoyable short game by all accounts, the sum just isn't quite as good as the parts.

CounterSpy may have it flaws but what makes it stand out is the visual style and design. It is, however, short but with cross buy and cross save on PlayStation it might just be that Spy-filler your looking for.

It seems Wizards of the Coast have taken a step back with Magic 2015. Bad Deck Building, micro-transactions and lack of other modes makes for a boring and unimaginative installment of Duels of The Planeswalkers.

For all of its variation in gameplay, War Thunder just never really feels very engaging. The extremely tactical nature that makes its closest relative so addictive just doesn’t exist, and while that’s not the only way to make a war sim entertaining, Gaijin haven’t offered a suitable alternative.

The lack of a Wii U function let this down for me. If I was playing the PlayStation version I would have less complaints. But overall One Piece: Unlimited World Red is a fun game, has loads to offer and any One Piece fan would love it.

The combination of repetitive gameplay, pacing and story issues in relation to the Earth/Cybertron dynamic and the absence of almost any new ideas will result in Rise of the Dark Spark finding itself being forgotten in the not too distant future. In the vocally distorted words of Bumblebee… “[Sad bleeps]”. Sad Bleeps indeed.

Van Helsing II isn’t a huge improvement over its predecessor, but it’s certainly starting to show increasing signs of becoming an excellent RPG. Unfortunately, the game is still hindered by some combat issues and a bland story, but the basics are there, we just have to hope the Neocore continue to improve on their IP.

Overall, Duck Game caught me by surprise, and once it had me, it didn’t let me go. A must-have for a party-game or even one for when a friend over. Its simple yet humourous design makes for a brilliant game.

The storyline definitely made up for the short campaign time, though understandably, others prefer a longer game and less of a story. There are some disappointing factors, but altogether, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the game made me want to continue to find out more; which essentially, a game should always try to keep your interest piqued.

Beautiful, stylised and interesting. In a world of stale games Transistor takes all that was good from the loved Bastion but makes enough changes that it stand out on its own.

As the good outweighs the bad, this is certainly worth a punt. Great story, enjoyable gameplay and the key element of fun are littered throughout the game, and are marred only slightly by a few niggling technical issues and rough-edged gameplay in places. A hugely enjoyable ride, just as single-handedly blasting through waves of über-Nazis should be.

You can’t fault its ambition, but ultimately due to pacing issues, hit-and-miss writing and story that is altogether too long, the game is never very enjoyable. If you’ve got the patience to put up with the occasional periods where nothing much happens, Always Sometimes Monsters will reward you with a memorable, if very uneven, experience.

The game is definitely not dull to play and should not be seen as such. It’s a massive experience with some really unique puzzles to solve and should keep you on your toes. Ultimately, if you like LEGO games, you like this. If you like The Hobbit, you’ll like this. If you like both? Well then you’ve hit the jackpot my friend.

X Rebirth will become something, but what that will be, only time will tell. In its current state, given room for potential and circumstances, I feel I am being extremely generous giving X Rebirth the score I have.
