In the aftermath of such an event as being locked out of your save file one has to take a look at the road travelled in a very particular light. There’s a lot to like and even love about The Last Stand: Aftermath. Its moment-to-moment treasure hunting and rogue-like systems are top-notch at pulling you in and keeping you playing. I especially love the mutation system and its run-altering effects that make each volunteer you send to die uniquely fun. Frankly though, it’s hard to recommend something that clearly needs more time. If the bugs can be flattened to the point where they don’t endanger the player experience then there is a really good time to be had here. However, it might be best to stay away from this infection, at least for the time being.

Conway: Disappearance at Dahlia View feels like a paperback mystery novel you might find at the back of the bookstore. It’s not exactly a hidden gem but it does contain the occasional glint of something special. Perfunctory writing drags down the tension and a limited range of puzzles and interactivity struggles to pull it all back together. Worse though, Conway’s brutish ways filled me with unease from the first snap of the camera, rather than filling me with the joy of a good detective story, I just felt like an intruder.

Sessions with BPM: Bullets Per Minute always left me with my hands aching, my heart racing and my ears filled with the glory of sweet, sweet metal. Initial runs were embarrassing and frustrating, but the gradual sense of discovery of the game’s systems and the increasing knowledge of enemies’ attack patterns and combinations made me feel like each run things were becoming a little easier. You’re at the mercy of lady luck to some extent, with certain factors in the early game going a hell of a long way to setting up the recipe for success, but if you’re up for a roguelike with a twist then Bullets Per Minute is a great time. At any rate, the gift of metal will be bestowed upon thee. Rejoice!

Really, it’s parents and their very young kids that are the target audience of Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan. RPG veterans and Fortnite students may reel at the adorable visuals and simple gameplay, but those looking to simply spend time with their lil’ loved ones will forgive the sacrifices made for the game’s undeniably great accessibility.
