In many regards, PGA Tour 2K21 feels like a more refined version of TGC19, and once you’ve mastered the art of golfing the core gameplay experience is the best the sport has seen yet. As a PGA title, there are some missed opportunities though. The lack of playable golf stars is a big omission and a shallow career mode are two areas HB Studios and 2K could improve on next time around. But if you’re just looking to play a few holes here and there, PGA Tour 2K21 is a great way to get out on the course.

Windbound makes an admirable attempt at bridging the gap between an unguided survival experience and a narrative adventure, and it almost gets there. The core building blocks are there, and they’re all fun, but they don’t always gel in a way that works. Like the ocean waves that seem to almost consciously work against Kara, the ebb and flow of the game works to disrupt the player’s journey more than it carries it. There’s a genuinely good game here with a great story to tell and when it shines, it truly shines, but that makes its shortcomings all the more frustrating.

Giraffe and Annika is weird in a lot of good ways, and it has the kind of tenacity and heart that makes any good ‘indie’ experience a rewarding one, but there’s no getting around the fact that it lacks in production value and doesn’t amount to much more than a few hours of fetch quests wrapped up in a nice story. I hesitate to say that it’s an objectively ‘good’ game, but it’s an effective enough experience that hardcore weebs, especially the cat lovers among us, won’t mind giving up an afternoon to see it through.

Peaky Blinders: Mastermind is a brilliantly designed and executed puzzler, whose only real flaw is that it simply doesn’t make sense as a Peaky Blinders game. While the story mostly passes muster, fans of the show will probably be left a little underwhelmed, and those unfamiliar with the characters might struggle to connect with the story at all. Is Peaky Blinders: Mastermind a good game? Yes, it is. Is it a good Peaky Blinders game? Unfortunately not.

It’s no masterpiece, but in it’s particularly niche genre of GIANT CRAB BATTLE GAMES it shines as an example of a water-cooler idea turned into a silly smash-up of epic proportions. Explaining its concept to your mates may return a cocked head and a concerned expression – but get them at the helm of one of the crabs and they are extremely likely to have a good time. While Fight Crab may not earn a spot at EVO or garner its own esport league (a crime, really), it definitely fits into that ideal spot of being a great time with friends, and will likely generate tons of amazing Twitch streams and YouTube highlight videos.

Creaks is another winner from Amanita that should satisfy both fans of their unique, abstract style and their penchant for head-scratching puzzles – albeit now in a controller-friendly new gameplay format. It’ll also speak to a very particular type of person as the narrative’s surprises start to reveal themselves, so it’ll be interesting to see who picks the big reveal ahead of time and who doesn’t. All in all, if you’re a fan of the studio’s work or enjoy challenging, indie puzzle-platformers you’re sure to dig Creaks.

This game is hard to put down, drawing you in to complete just one more day towards your goal of operating an aesthetically pleasing and functional farm, making furry friends and piles of cash, or all of the above. SoS: FoMT rings with nostalgia but it doesn’t feel tired or worn out, but rather rejuvenated. This game would be a great entry for newcomers of all ages, in particular thanks to the easy mode, but provides plenty for returning players wanting to journey back to where the genre blossomed without having to have an old console. This is certainly a great example of a remaster done right, with limited issues and a whole hog (though there are sadly no piggies) of fun.
