I am now thoroughly convinced that lycanthropy and ecoterrorism are perfectly natural bedfellows. The Werewolf: The Apocalypse universe is one brimming with potential, and Heart of the Forest in general does a fantastic job of leaning on its lore while presenting a captivating personal tale. There’s a palpable sense of choice in how Maia’s story unfolds, and the gamey elements are light but work well in the context and make it feel like an active experience. It’s true that occasionally the quality of the writing dips and there are far too many typographical errors, plus a second playthrough doesn’t come recommended if you don’t want the illusion spoiled, but for fans of the genre this is a solid little bite-sized experience worthy of a look in.

God’s Will Fall is very much a game that is almost there. It has the right elements – impressive dungeons, imaginative bosses and a unique storytelling system to supplement the adventure. Ultimately though it’s the more granular aspects within those elements that hinders the enjoyment, there’s not enough incentive to explore, bosses come and go quickly and the overarching story is paper-thin. There’s a lot here to like, genuinely, but it’s hard recommending a game that falls and fades so quickly.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game – Complete Edition is the same game that everybody lamented when it was lost six years ago. The progression-based game flow, the fantastic visuals and soundtrack, and the same problems bar one. While it’s nice to have back what’s become something of a legend in its absence, you know what they say about meeting your heroes.

I’m strangely attached to this series and I desperately wanted Super Mech League to improve on its predecessor. Luckily, the reworked combat and added combo/special moves make for some fun base gameplay. The camera is better, not perfect, the garage a bit pointless and some of the arenas are a bit painful thanks to their verticality, but I was able to see past those things because bashing and smashing robots together like they’re action figures was genuinely entertaining. It’s just a shame that there aren’t more creative modes to show showcase the more engaging grappling.
