ing of Fighters XIII is definitely an improvement over its predecessor. There are some new modes added in, and the online play (while still not without its issues) is vastly improved over over KOFXII's lag-filled multiplayer. However, there are still some big issues with the game. The new Story mode has a pretty weak and convoluted plot and the boss characters are some of the cheapest since Street Fighter IV unleashed Seth on fighting fans.

In a lot of ways, the success of Lego Harry Potter and the rest of the Lego titles are a little inexplicable. The puzzles are easy, the platforming is floaty and doesn’t feel quite right, and the combat is one-button. And yet the games are still loads of fun. It’s clear that Traveller’s Tales made 5 -7 with a lot of love, and with a great eye for detail. Awkward moments from the film like Harry and Hermione’s infamous camping tent dance are expertly parodied, and TT even manages to wring laughs out of dramatic character deaths. Simply out, Lego Harry Potter is a light and breezy way for fans of all ages to experience the world of Harry Potter in a new way.

Kinect Disneyland Adventures is without a doubt one of the best Kinect games ever made, and may top the list for many. There is a prerequisite love for Disney needed in order to fully enjoy it, but anyone who has been to Disneyland (or wanted to go, but lives somewhere far away where all they have is a Busch Gardens), the game captures the park amazingly well. The mini-games, characters, side quests and collectibles offer up more gameplay than nearly any other family game on the market, and the game is cheaper than a single person admission to the park. If you can’t go to Disneyland, this really is the next best thing.

Like I said, I wanted Jurassic Park to be good, but just like John Hammond's dream of a dinosaur amusement park, it doesn't pan out. I wouldn't call Jurassic Park a bad game as it works and does take us back to a time when dinosaurs (stiffly) roamed the Earth, but the story, animations and general gameplay keep it from being able to contend with most titles on the market -- and that includes other Telltale titles.

WWE '12 features so much content that it's impossible to give due diligence here to each of its deep modes. Yet none of that depth would matter if the gameplay was sub-par. THQ's efforts in breathing new life into its core mechanics have paid off. Combat now has a natural flow that not only makes sense from the perspective of a player but from the perspective of someone watching a wrestling match take place. The tension and drama that should be present inside the ring are there, and the only reason that's possible is because there is a balance and fine-tuning in the mechanics. What THQ has done here serves its audience spectacularly. WWE '12 retains and improves upon the already-great presentation of its predecessors, capturing a likeness of wrestling that is uncanny. And it plays just as well as it looks. This should be considered a milestone for the wrestling simulation genre. It's certainly a much-needed breath of fresh air. Let's just hope every year can continue to be this remarkable - the bar is now set very high.

Shinobi for the 3DS represents a valiant effort to bring back this cult hit from SEGA’s past. The variety of moves, high difficulty level and abundance of secrets make for an enjoyable experience that harkens back to the original in many ways. What brings the game down considerably is the repetitiveness of the main combat, and the fact that the initially inspired level and art designs take a nosedive about halfway through. It’s still a title fans of Shinobi or the hack and slash genre should pick up, but otherwise the package fails to impress enough to highly recommend.

In Hydrophobia: Prophecy, impressive water simulation elevates an otherwise standard action game. It definitely entertains, and using the environment to creatively put down your enemies satisfies. Now, here's hoping the developers finally get working on parts two and three.

I’m surprised by how much I enjoyed Medieval Moves: Deadmund’s Quest. Its pinpoint controls, whimsical story and fun mechanics easily overcome the fact that it’s on-rails, though I’m saddened to think that the game could have been even stronger if it wasn’t. Regardless, Medieval Moves will prove to be a worthwhile purchase for Move owners. The main game has difficulty settings to adjust, leaderboards to compete on and an insane amount of collectibles to find (though they are more frustrating than they should be due to the on-rails nature of the game). And then there are the mini-games, which are fun on your own or with a friend.

If the lower resolution and other graphical changes made to bring Modern Warfare 3 to the Wii had resulted in performance parity, this game could have been great. Visuals aren’t everything, but when the graphics make it hard to pick out targets or they make the game perform poorly when it was designed to run super-silky, they become problematic. Imagine a Michael Bay movie without the explosions? It wouldn’t be exciting, and neither are the major moments in the MW3 Wii campaign. Combine this with the frustrating connection issues that turn Call of Duty’s greatest component, its multiplayer, into an anger-inducing time, and you have a port that feels like a bastardization of a fantastic game. Wii owners deserve more.

When I say “Black Eyed Peas” if you say “Hell yeah!” then you should think about getting The Black Eyed Peas Experience. For everyone else who is probably thinking “Oh I like that one song, the one with the beat, you know…” stick to Dance Central 2, or Just Dance 3, both of which are fun, multiplayer dance games that feature a wider range of songs.

Usually I'll take whatever Japanese arcade shooter I can get, but Otomedius Excellent is outdated and overpriced. It's got two things going for it: cute anime girls (if that's your thing) and an addictive upgrade system. Were this a downloadable game asking a third of the entrance fee, I would say it warrants a look for shooter fans, but with so little flash or innovation, I have a hard time recommending it. I guess collectors might want to pick it up because the fact that this was released on disc in North America is pretty amazing.

It’s really a shame that WWII flying games are so overlooked, as Air Conflicts proves that even a budget entry can be a lot of fun. If more time and resources were put into crafting it, this could have been a great arcade flying game. Unfortunately, though, the poor presentation drags down the entire experience. If you’re desperate for a WWII flight game, Air Conflicts can be enjoyable, but even in such a limited genre, there are honestly better options.

If you skipped out on Marvel vs. Capcom 3 earlier this year or simply heard about the Ultimate version and opted to wait it out, you’ll find a lot to love in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. The added characters round out the roster very nicely, bolstering the full lineup to potentially fifty. However, if you’re looking for something more than added characters and stages, UMvC3 doesn’t add much in the way of new features and modes, making the forty dollar price tag and retail-only package a little hard to swallow.

Need for Speed: The Run has a good racer inside it. It can be exciting and visceral, and there were numerous times in the game where I stopped and said, “Sh--, that was cool.” But all this awesome racing action gets somewhat lost amid the nonexistent story, the dumb/scripted AI, the lack of options, and the overall shortness of the game. The Run is not a marathon racing game, it's a quick and dirty drag race.
