The Forgotten Sands is a very impressive continuation of the Prince of Persia franchise. It seems equal kudos has been given to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game, but I can only speak for the version made for Wii. It’s common to get a “different” experience on Wii but it’s rare when that experience is just as impressive as the bigger systems. This version of the game is chock full of challenging gameplay and fun surprises, wrapped up in a product that really shows off some clever new Wii-centric gameplay mechanics.

This is a cheap ripoff of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. If you want to steal more cars and commit more crimes, this will let you do it. But if Chinatown Wars is a high-class escort, Car Jack Streets is a $5 corner girl.

If you've been waiting for the return of Rocket Knight I think you'll be pleased with this effort. It's got a vibrant, modern look but the gameplay is rooted in the 16-bit original. Gamers who don't have warm fuzzies for the SEGA Genesis original will still find an inventive platformer here. Eyebrows may be raised over the $15 price tag and short length of the game, though.

Skate 3 is by no means a disappointing addition to the series, but those who sunk their cash into last year’s Skate 2 really don’t have much of a reason to take the plunge here. Thankfully the gameplay is still the most impressive virtual representation of skateboarding around and the new audio treatment will delight fans of the series. And I suppose if you were starved for cooperative online team play, then this edition will quench your thirst, but if it’s a truly revolutionary and progressive sequel you’re looking for, Skate 3 doesn’t fit the bill.

Skate It is a fresh idea that just does not pan out. The controls have a steep learning curve. They may offer greater control over your skater so he doesn’t feel like a puppet, but they take way too long to get comfortable with the set-up. And even when you do get the swiping system, it still sometimes fails to respond. Couple that with some downright bad visuals and you have a game with potential but undercooked execution. I’d certainly be willing to check out a Skate It 2 in the future, though.

Nier is ugly and it can get really repetitive, forcing players to backtrack multiple times across familiar locations. But for every frustration I encountered in Nier, there were surprising gameplay twists, unsettling aesthetics and intriguing characters to meet. The ideas that Nier was built on are extremely solid -- the execution just falls short. If you're still the type to rent or borrow a game and you have a free weekend, you can get through Nier in about 20 hours or so. I'd say it's worth it, despite the game's faults -- especially when you consider the endearing cast contained within.

Xbox Live Arcade is a great place for retro shooters, but if they aren't great examples of what the genre is capable of they're likely to get lost in the mix. I suspect that is what will happen to RayStorm HD, a solid shooter that will get some attention for its nostalgia factor but is ultimately a pretty generic effort.

Iron Man 2 has some good ideas – the custom loadouts, the different armors, and Cheadle and Jackson providing voices – but they don’t pan out. In the end, this is an uninspired brawl from one mission to the next. You don’t need to worry about much, the game isn’t that hard, and it’ll be over before you know it.

I don’t think Lead and Gold is going to replace Team Fortress 2 for any of the fans out there. There’s just not a lot in the game, but what is there is fun, stylish, and cool. If you’re more of a casual multiplayer gamer like I am, then Lead and Gold is neat game. Just don’t expect to be playing it for months on end.

Record of Agarest War is a traditional strategy RPG that has a few nice perks but stumbles enough to keep it from greatness. It's being marketed as an erotic SRPG, but in reality it's actually very tame. A little cleavage is all you're going to see here. I would rather it have gone more over-the-top with its sexuality, as that would have made it a more unique experience. But if you're a fan of the genre, Agarest War will provide a very long adventure that spans generations.

Dementium II is a straightforward horror-focused adventure that's certainly a step up from the original Dementium: The Ward, but never quite reaches what the team has already done in its less gory, but similarly mature Moon. It definitely fuels the craving for more first-person action games on the Nintendo DS, and at the very least Renegade Kid continues to show how capable the team is with the handheld hardware. The six-year old system clearly still has what it takes to drive fun FPS designs.

Despite a disappointing shift in visual style, Picross 3D is another enjoyable and habit-forming puzzle game that is perfect for the DS. It's very satisfying to reveal each stage's hidden object and you'll find yourself returning to many puzzles in order to get a perfect rating. If you're looking for your next DS addiction, this is a good pick.
