After putting in numerous hours with Fuel, I've struggled to find anything that I especially like about it. The racing has issues, but in and of itself (outside of not being able to select a ride you might want), it works well enough. Not great, but well enough. If you play the game and just skip all of the collection crap (unless you have a ton of time to kill) and just simply move from race to race via the menus, you might be able to squeeze out an experience that isn't painful. But don't go wandering and expect to find anything cool - it's all just wasted space.

It goes without saying that this game is for hardcore simmers and it doesn't do much to lower the barrier of entry for newcomers. With that said, Rise of Flight has, hands down, some of the best flight modeling and graphics of any sim I've played. Given the lack of good flight sims, that alone is more than enough to justify its presence on my hard drive. But as impressive as the overall visuals and flying are, the campaign system and plane roster just feel more than a little anemic. When compared to the wide range of content in games like IL-2 Sturmovik or Fighter Ace 3.5, it's hard to feel that Rise of Flight is holding back a bit too much, especially for forty bucks.

The amount of fun you do or don’t have with Mega Man Star Force 3 is going to be directly dependant on a number of things. First off, fans of the series are going to eat this one up, as the continued online offering and added depth and customization with the noise system makes for far more user-based strategy throughout. If the continued rehash issue hasn’t gotten to you yet, it probably won’t. For others – myself included – Star Force 3 is another in a long line of titles that just don’t seem to evolve at a fast enough rate. I played it back in 2001, left the series in 2003/04, and it’s now 2009 and I feel like I haven’t missed a thing. For those that are totally new to the franchise though, combine what you’re getting here with the optimism and originality found in our original Battle Network GBA review. Not much has changed, and while that means the core audience will be ever-dwindling as people step away from it, it also means there’s still one hell of an entertaining game to be found. Weighed against its predecessors, Star Force 3 is the best of the trilogy thus far on DS. Whether that matters or not is entirely up to you…

The Bigs 2 may not be the perfect baseball game, but it delivers enough pure fun to keep you playing with your friends for hours. Become A Legend starts fun and gets more and more annoying the deeper you get. The mini-games serve the game well for the most part, even if some feel out of place. There’s no doubt that The Bigs 2 is an improvement over the original with bigger and louder mechanics built into the gameplay that help enhance things on the field. I advise those who enjoyed the first Bigs to head out and pick this one up for another fun trip to the ballpark.

Infernal: Hell's Vengeance seemingly has all the elements to make for a great B movie type of videogame experience. It's got hammy dialogue brought to life in exaggerated style by the voice actors, a plot involving heaven versus hell and a God that apparently can't see through planets, and it's all set up so you can charge through a mostly linear stage progression popping foes in the face with bullets and demonic powers. Thanks to a fidgety character control and aiming system, half-baked cover and evasion mechanics, repetitive enemy encounters and some underdeveloped special abilities that are more of an inconvenience than anything else, Infernal's appeal gets stamped out amidst its many missteps.

As a prequel, Bound in Blood does a good job of presenting the characters, their storylines and what eventually leads back into the franchise history. It also packs in a ton of fast action, loads of explosions and a heavy dose of duels against opponents that want to take you to Boot Hill. Unfortunately, the repetitive nature of the missions, coupled with some technical issues, really keeps this title from standing out more. What's worse, the constant freezing whenever the game saves checkpoints breaks up the action, which really breaks you out of the flow of the gameplay, and is simply inexcusable.

This disparity between excessive accuracy in the military hardware and the broken nature of the mission elements leads us to wonder if developers of games like this aren't being overly ambitious. I love having dozens and dozens of realistic weapons and vehicles and highly detailed geography and ballistics modeling, but the unintuitive interface required to manage it all and the irregularities in the scripting make it hard to appreciate those qualities. ArmA II's modest score merely reflects my attempt to resolve its undeniable merits with its equally obvious faults. At times I feel that my score is too harsh, but at other times I feel it's too generous. Over time, the developers and the mod community will likely iron out most of the scripting problems, leaving the inelegant interface as the game's worst flaw.

My experience with America's Army 3 has been very rewarding thus far. It feels like the game has an older, more mature player base than what you'd encounter in a contemporary console shooter, and it's a game that will appeal to those who like realism and tactics. With that said, there are still plenty of problems, such as glitchy animations and weapons bugs, and the entire game could probably get a tightening of its network code to reduce lag. Still, it's hard to argue with the experience or the price (which is free). This is a shooter that's more intelligent than most and that requires more teamwork and coordination, but that makes the rewards of success that much more enjoyable.

The History Channel's a relatively recent addition to the gaming industry, as its signature branding's only been seen in game stores for the past two years or so -- starting with the requisite World War II fare like Battle of the Pacific, but then traveling a bit further back through time to bring us tales of war and conquest from some of our world's most prominent past societies. But this story of the Roman Empire falls flat, as the official History logo does little to lift it out of its mediocrity in design. Some strategy fans may want to give it a look since it's priced at a reasonable level of just 20 bucks, but most gamers will want to steer clear -- its rough interface with touchy touch controls, confusing navigation, hands-off combat and mostly frustrating mini-games all come together to form a title that is, ultimately, better left in the past.

I've played some truly terrible Sudoku DS games, and I've played some good ones. This one is a good one. It benefits by being the first one to market as a downloadable version, too – having the game "at the ready" as an executable in your DSi system without the need for cartridge swapping is a really nice thing indeed. It's hard to get excited about Sudoku nowadays, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a recommended experience. For a pick-up-and-play experience, Sudoku Master's a solid DSi addition.
